Review titled Maternity staff
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Furious mother - Posted on 04 November 2023
Very unprofessional and should be given a disciplinary. Leaving pregnant mothers to sit and wait whilst chatting in their little office. Not checking up on mothers to be. As a pregnant mother especially first time moms they should at least have the decency and professionalism to realise that mothers need to be reassured. Maybe they should all have training days with the midwives at the General as they are lovely and caring and reassuring . Having been there twice I have see first hand how much better trained at dealing with expectant mothers the midwives are.

Review titled Excellent Care 100%
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by SARAH kENDALL - Posted on 28 November 2023
Absolutely can not fault the care that I was given from start to finish This was due to the prompt undertaking of 2 Rheumatology Specialist Nurses over a space of 2 days who listened to me and promptly solved an issue so painful but because of them I will be ever grateful to them for their quick thinking and action it shows that the care sharing on their side works and the consultant was so professional and approachable as was all the staff in clinic on my visit today Thank you

Review titled 4 hours waiting in kids A&E and still not seen a doctor
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 15 November 2023
Four hours waiting in kids A&E on a Wednesday evening and we are yet to see a doctor. Another child was sick on the floor and it took nearly an hour to be cleaned up. The staff are great but the volume of staff is simply not enough to cover 10% of the patients. As a tax payer, it would be more beneficial not paying national insurance and paying for private medical insurance because this is a failed service unfortunately

Review titled Can I casualty go and teach A@e Adult casualty how to do it?
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 05 December 2023
This review is a follow-up of the review I gave for Adult A&E casualty this review is for eye casualty department of the Leicester Royal infirmary only read my other review of the appalling way. I was treated in Adult accident and emergency A&E so I returned to eye casualty today. What a difference fantastic service from the moment I walked in to the moment, I left the receptionist a gentleman was friendly, reassuring and very kind and very welcoming and put me at ease straightaway from what was a very stressful time, I was then taken into a small room within 15 minutes and eye test and eye pressure was Also taken I was then asked to wait on the seats for another half an hour before I was seen by an eye specialist nurse who asked me questions about my medical health. I was then asked to take a seat again and I saw the consultant within an hour was okay luckily for me and I was able to go home bravo Leicester Royal infirmary eye casualty!!!! Dept . Perhaps you could nip down to Leicester , Royal infirmary Adult A&E and show them how it’s done because they haven’t got a clue if you go to Kettering you go through different process and it’s very quick. I realise the Leicester City is a very large city and you are dealing with a lot of people at A&E emergency department. However no excuse for dismissiveness rudeness or unconcerned attitude you apparently chose a career to help people??? Then show some compassion, kindness and think about why it was. You became a nurse or a doctor, or a receptionist at the hospital in the first place. It’s not about money you get paid a lot and you use it as an excuse not fair and if somebody’s on their own, show them a little bit more compassion, it’s frightening to go to you nobody wants to !! Here to help, no wonder people don’t go n dread it ! here to Help it doesn’t seem like that to me ! people do not go to hospital for any other reason other than fear illness and injury. It is your job to make us feel better that’s what you are paid to do. It’s a pity you don’t wear the fantastic nurses and doctors uniforms of the past with capes and bonnets that gave you a pride in your job When I was a little girl, my mum would point to the nurses and say don’t they look amazing in their uniforms all lost and now we’ve got nurses and doctors talking to people like that you’re scum that is now lacking. If you are brought in an ambulance to A&E casualty, the situation is completely different and you’re immediately met by lovely staff, helpful kind and respectful show some respect in the A&E walk-in department when you casually telling people it’s a 9 1/2 hour. Wait in the hope that they will turn round and go as I did and you say okay then goodbye you’re a disgrace so that’s why I’ve said congratulations to A&E eye casualty you are fantastic thank you xxx for your love and care of patience you’re fantastic

Review titled Care throughout
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 07 November 2023
Thank you to the Eye casualty team for caring for my 90 year old mother throughout her 7 hour stay in the department. Her day started with a routine eye procedure at one of the community hospitals but at Mum’s request the doctor took time in her clinic to conduct a thorough examination of the other eye as Mum had detected a recent change in her vision. An urgent referral to Eye casualty followed. Once there, Mum had a barrage of tests and imaging, a tiring day for a 90 year old with poor mobility. But all of the team looked after her and a consultant arranged for some tea and biscuits for us as the drinks machine was not working and the cafes had closed. We had a long wait into the evening for blood results but Mum was allowed to stay in the privacy and more comfortable chair in a nursing cubicle as the department quietened down for the evening. She received the best possible care and the next steps were clearly explained. Thank you.

Review titled Absolutely amazing staff and Consultant
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Tammy - Posted on 18 October 2023
I have always had excellent experience from LRI but I have been on a waiting list for this one. The staff were fantastic and the consultant was amazing she was calm helpful honest and she didn't rush me. Ensured I understood the situation. People are too happy to complain and not give credit when it's due. But this experience was outstanding in my opinion they need to be recognized so much better

Review titled Great Team but Never Get Appt Letters
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 December 2023
A very good medical team at the hospital and I've been through a number of operations. My criticism, however, is that I've been coming to the department since 2016 and never once have I just received my next appointment withough having to call up and chase. And it's not easy getting through, of course. So that's almost 8 years and dozens of appointments, and every single one of them - including operations, I've had to chase up with phone calls. I know times are tough, but surely administration could be a little more thorough than this. I'm always told at the end of appointment that, 'A letter will be sent to you with your next appointment.' It never yet has been. A shame, because otherwise it's a great department. If I were a timid person I might have lost my sight by now, given the severity of the issues I have as they're explained to me by the medical team!

Review titled Very high water pressure
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Max - Posted on 12 October 2023
I am a regular user of the hospital and my experience at the hospital (staff and care) has been excellent over the years. Only issue I have is the water pressure in the gentlemen's restroom at Balmoral building near the Eye clinic is far too high. It tends to splash water all over your legs as one cleans their hands. Please rectify this. Thank you

I had a panic attack when going for a CT Angiogram. The staff in the CT room where so patient and calming. They made me feel relaxed and cared for. I cannot thank them enough. I was very conscious of wasting their time. They looked after very professionally and with compassion.
