Review titled Hearing services
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Sean Mackness - Posted on 26 November 2023
The fact that the hearing services and the ENT department refuse to liase is astonishing. I have had ongoing issues with my ears for 9 years and could have been resolved much sooner if It wasn't for the incompetence of certain 'professionals' that refuse to believe i have issues with my ears other than tinnitus. Many improvements are needed and regulators are desperately needed.

Receptionist down the phone was exceptionally rude, I had asked a question and her response was ‘Absolutely not today afternoon. Call tomorrow’ in an unpleasant tone and then ended it. Considering these people work in a clinic, I don’t believe the receptionist has had the correct training as she should be dealing with people respectfully over the phone.

Review titled Professional and caring
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 17 October 2023
I was diagnosed with a high white-cell count having had a blood-test for something completely unrelated. Things moved with awesome rapidity and I found myself in cancer triage on a Saturday morning. Staff were warm and professional. They kept me informed of what was going on and what was suspected. It was confirmed that I have leukaemia; the implications and prognosis were explained in a clear and direct manner, and I was left in no doubt of where things stood and the support and treatment I would receive. Whilst I wouldn’t recommend contracting blood cancer, I’d say that - if you do contract it - the staff at Leicester Royal are superb.

Review titled Excellent service
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Was unwell on a Sunday called nhs111 was sent to see a gp he took one look at me and told me to go to a&e The service I received from the triage nurse to the doctor was outstanding. (I'm not one for going docs or hosp unless essential) The only downside was they said I had to stay in being a Sunday night I went on a bed list obviously no beds so about 4hours later was told I could go home and come back in the morning to eye casualty. I didn't have a problem with that however it's not great not nhs fault...that there were no beds so was told I could go because obviously I'm taking up a cubical that they end for more patients coming in to be seen. The nhs is on its knees Thankyou to the outstanding staff that looked after me

Review titled Shall we do the surgery tomorrow
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by James Bayliss - Posted on 05 August 2023
Want to say a big thank you to the Gastroenterology surgical team, i had been in hospital on various medications for two weeks. It was clear after a ct scan of my bowel, there was a mass itight still need to diagnosed fully, but at the time there was concern it eleas a form of bowel cancer so removal was the best option. I was told this on the Monday and as the week went on in became more and more frightened and unhappy, their was times during that week I didn't want the surgery to take place at all but on the Thursday the surgeon came to see me. They were upbeat cheerful optimistic but honest about my situation, she and her team where kind and honest about what needed to happen and why. My options were limited either we could try medications for months with the possibility of serve pain continuing if they didn't work or remove the mass bowel resection. After the surgeon answered the questions of myself and my mother who was with me we opted for surgery. I know I had remain a inpatient to have this procedure, unfortunately dur to the behavior of another patient, sleep. Had been at a premium rate for the last two weeks. Ranging from none to 4 hours a night. So I was concerned this would go for a least another week. So when I ask the surgeon when could the procedure, if it could be done either that weekend, it couldn't she wasn't working so I thought Monday at the earliest. At which point the surgeon turned round and said shall we do it tomorrow. Within 12 hour's I was on the operation table within 18 it was done. I would also like to praise the burses I had in the Icu ward after my surgery. They were supportive kind compassionate professional and engaging especially the nurse I had on the 8th july. She want to understand everything about my other disability cerebral palsy, it was nice she took the time to understand it's history and we engaged in my other passion politics and the history of Africa. I had a amazing stay in Icu. These discussions helped me deal with the pain I was in after surgery. Considering buying had to have a mass removed this was the best 24 hours I had during my 3 week stay.. Thank you to everyone involved in care for being both compassionate honest caring and supportive. The way you treated me as a disabled person respextjng both my wishes and intelligence and not speaking down to me is why my care was exemplary and it's why university Hospital of Leicester and it's team is on of the best in the Midlands if not Englandin my opinion a big thank you..

Review titled Amazing Service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Kate Roubaud - Posted on 05 July 2023
I had 2 visits to A & E after feeling suddenly very unwell once as a walk in patient and secondly by ambulance as my symptoms had worsened. The service I had was amazing. I was treated with care and respect by all the staff as I made my way through the A & E assessment process. The staff explained the tests they were doing in language I could understand and I was discharged with a prescription for medication, advice and an appointment for the TIA clinic the following week. I kept this appointment and had further extensive tests and again was seen by amazing staff the last being a Consultant Physician. She was so kind and knowledgeable and did not dismiss my concerns. I was given an explanation of test results which ruled out many possible conditions and gave me an idea of what she thought the problem might be. I was discharged with a plan for the future. I cannot thank you all enough LRI staff. The service was impressive and I feel so lucky having this on our doorstep. Thank you NHS LRI. s and a discharge letter and

Review titled The most incredible staff.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Beth w - Posted on 14 June 2023
I came to the gau with my friend who had a terrible experience at a sexual health clinic and desperately needed her copper iud removed. It has embedded and given her an infection. She was scared, in agony and reluctant to trust anyone after the sexual health clinic. The staff in the ga department were incredible. I’ve never had an experience like it. They are just exceptionally skilled in making you feel comfortable and relaxed about such a private matter. I cannot fault them, and severely hope that they’re getting the appreciation they deserve. They were funny, kind and knowledgeable. Exactly how a team should be. Thank you, you’ve changed my friends life.

Review titled Fantastic service for children with additional needs
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by P Smith - Posted on 23 June 2023
I had to attend children's a & e with my child who is on the asd pathway and nonverbal this evening. All staff was amazing and was very understanding. Fantastic understanding of my child's additional needs was taken into account with the waiting time/assessments and I am very appreciative of that. I can honestly say it was made as straightforward as possible from the reception staff booking us in to the acp who assessed my child. Thank you for making a difference.

Review titled Worsening symptoms/No reply from the department
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Sean Mackness - Posted on 26 November 2023
I visited the ENT department in June and was told I would have a follow-up appointment in 2 weeks. It is now almost 6 months. My visit was quick and without the tests or diagnosis needed for my condition. I have contacted the department, as have many health professionals to expedite my appointment due to worsening symptoms and mental health issues but no reply has ever been received from the ENT department. I feel as though I am just wasting my time and my condition will never be resolved.
