    I found the team friendly and helpful throughout. When I was in pain after surgery they gave me support as soon as they could. It would be great if they were contactable all through the week. Overall a great service, thank you

    Saturday 9th December went to have a Colonoscopy, to be honest I was quite worried, all the staff were really kind, receptionist, ward staff, theatre staff. All really kind and put me at ease, actually made me laugh which was the last thing I thought I would do. I just want to say thanks so much for making time for me.

    I was extremely nervous going in for my procedure , but from the moment of check in , through theatre, recovery and discharge everyone I came into contact with was clear about their role , answered my queries , helped me feel calm and confident that they all had my best interests at heart. Great teamwork throughout the whole experience- and even though there were many patients to deal with , nothing was too much trouble and I felt individually cared for at all times .

    Saw a consultant gynaecologist today at Leighton hospital. She was caring, very informative, gentle and explained everything well. I was given a telephone number to call in case a follow up is required. I can't recommend this consultant and the service I received today highly enough. There is no room for any suggested improvement.

    My brothers optician recommended that he go immediately to a&e at 16.30 Sat 2.12.23. We jumped into my car and arrived at Leighton at 1700. We were in a&e for 9 hours and then released. My brother received an appointment from Ward 6 (Stroke Clinic) to attend on Thrs 7th at 1300 but on Tues 5th he suffered continuous numbness down one side of his body and after discussion we decided not to wait for the Thursday appointment but went back to a&e arriving at 22.45 At about midnight a member of staff announced to the room that there was a minimum of 8 hours wait to see a doctor - and this would extend if more ambulance cases were brought in, adding that if anybody who had been fitted with a cannula gave up and left then the police would be sent to bring them back ! We waited for 10 hours and in that time had blood taken and ~bp checked. Not much activity but people trying to sleep on unsuitable chairs or on the floor. Little activity until about 0820 when I suspect a new shift started and staff started to process the waiting patients, we were released at 0900 with my brother asked to keep his appointment on Thursday. He attended the Stroke Clinic as arranged to be told that he had suffered a stroke on Monday afternoon and again referred back to the A&E waiting room at about 1500 - no medication was given, cannula fitted and usual bloods and bp taken. He waited until 2030 and was then taken for a ct scan - results given 2230 and told he would be kept there overnight - he was then taken to ‘pod 1’ and given a trolley bed in the corridor for the night - at this point I left. But….. The corridors were full of (mainly elderly) people on trollies and wheelchairs all waiting or being attended to, there seemed to be considerable numbers of staff looking after them. The point I’m trying to make is that the people who are in the a&e waiting room have no concept of the magnitude of effort being put in ‘backstage’ as it were - this leads to people, who may be scared and vulnerable, loosing patience - being rude to your staff and in some cases baling out prematurely (in one case an elderly lady with what looked like a catheter bag - pushed her wheelchair back to the entrance and ignoring the entreaties of the nurse ordered a taxi home). We have to try and get comfortable on tiny seats or sleep on the floor it’s no wonder that a&e gets a bad rep even though the staff are working flat out. This seems like an acute communications problem - surely your pr department can come up with a method of communication with the folks in the waiting room to help them understand what the issues are and what you are doing to help them, rather than leaving them in the dark and hoping that we will be ‘understanding’. We can only be understanding if that is facilitated by knowledge of what is going on. The nhs is a wonderful concept but remember that the patients are sentient clients and should be kept informed, otherwise the void may result in indignation / offence.

    It took a visit to the Eye Care Treatment Centre to really make me appreciate the pressure they are working under and why waiting lists are so long. Despite the number of patients waiting for assessment and treatment, all the staff were exceptionally pleasant and wanting to help. The politics of waiting lists are outside the remit of the staff working there and my review is not concerned with this, but my experience on the day. At each stage of my assessment, care and consideration were paramount and my time with the consultant was not only rewarding on a personal level, but enlightening in his knowledge of my problems. His determination to do all he could to relieve my situation made me feel so much better about the future. I can, in essence, leave nothing but praise for him and all staff in the Centre. Thank you!

    On 08/11/23 my partner and I went into Leighton to be induced for our first baby. All of our previous appointments for baby related things had also been at this hospital. All I can say is wow. We had such a lovely experience throughout the pregnancy and the staff were amazing, especially during the induction process and the labour. This is compounded by the fact we have relatives going through the same process a couple weeks behind us at a different hospital and hearing how bad their experience has been it really had highlight how amazing Leighton is and the staff on the maternity ward. I only wish I could publish names of the staff we had dealings with to thank them on a more personal level too.

    Waited 6 hours to be seen. Kept in overnight in A&E as no beds. Trolleys full along all corridors and patients sat five to a cubicle in chairs.
