Review titled Superb service under very trying circumstances
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by RGH - Posted on 30 January 2024
Just had to say a big thank you for kind and attentive service given to me by the staff at the A&E department. Thoroughly professional at all times under what looked like an avalanche of acutely unwell patients. And therein lies the problem. The sheer weight of this number of patients will inevitably crush not only the NHS but the resolve of staff as no service or persons can survive this pressure indefinitely.

I was sat in the room for 6 hours + made to wait as everyone nos this hospital is bad for waiting times but you never put theses on and why we was in the waiting room we had to keep helping people areselfs as they was too busy to help and when they wasn’t they was looking for people and we still had to tell them where they was that is not just myself there was 4 others helping that are nothing to do with me they say Lincoln is getting better to justify the new add on but it’s still the same they just get to split the times up so it doesn’t look as bad this is fixing and as the nhs this should be better stop trying to get people to go private and start caring about people again that’s why people loved the nhs

Perhaps you could use recordings of these "non answers" for your training purposes? Absolutely shocking

Review titled Awaiting letter

I attended the Orthopaedic clinic on 25th January 2024. After an Xray I was seen by the Orthopaedic surgeon who confirmed that my best option is to have hip replacement surgery, which I agreed to. The surgeon said he would send me a letter confirming his diagnosis and the next course of action. Six weeks on I am still awaiting said letter. This really isn’t good enough for patients who are, like myself, in considerable pain

Review titled Poor service provided

My daughter was referred to ENT in 2020 at age 2 for hearing loss and reoccurring tonsillitis, as well as suspected sleep apnea. After countless failed hearing tests, multiple months of enduring tonsillitis and antibiotics and many sleepless nights. The ENT department finally sent us a letter to come in and discuss the situation. Fast forward to Jan 2023, it was agreed by consultants that surgery was required for grommets, tonsil and adenoid removal. I received no further communication until December 2023, asking me to come in and sign consent, when I arrived, the consultant apologised and said that I already signed consent months prior and that the appointment was not required. It is now the end of January 2024 and we are still yet to have moved any further with this. My daughter has suffered terribly for almost 4 years and the errors caused have now delayed this even further for us. I am really disappointed in the service we have and are receiving and hope that future errors can be avoided.

Review titled Insightful experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Attended Endoscopy today. It was a privilege to meet the amazing teams from a to z. Professional, courteous, compassionate, empathic at the core. Felt nervous. Put at ease quickly which was reinforced by being given dignity with respect and profound kindness. The highest standards of care are palpable at every level. The human touch was invaluable. A place where you enter with, perhaps, tension and nerves yet you leave feeling well looked after by the triple A* teams. Thank you to each and everyone.

Review titled Very useful suggestions
by Antigone - Posted on 14 December 2023
The appointment was more or less on time, the waiting area is clean and tidy, the chairs comfortable. The consultant was helpful and her suggestions very useful, she clearly outlined the options for treatments from initial steps which may be enough to more invasive options. She was aware of my previous treatment and so knew the problems. I am expecting a physio appt in the near future and will know in about six months time whether these suggestions worked, if I do as suggested. Many thanks.

Dear Antigone Thank you for taking the time to leave this lovely feedback for our team following your recent visit to Gynaecology outpatients at Lincoln County Hospital. It is lovely to hear that the new chairs have made the waiting area a more comfortable experience. It is wonderful that you were given good advice on different treatment options for you to try, and you will be followed up to see if they have improved your condition. I will share your kind words with the team. Kind Regards Tanya Wilson Gynaecology outpatient Sister Trust Wide.

Review titled Disappointed with the lack of concern and care given
by Edd8 - Posted on 12 December 2023
My little one was sent up to paediatric A&E recently after seeking advice from 111 due to breathing difficulties and becoming unwell. When we were seen, it was very brief and the doctor only listened to his chest and looked in his throat. The doctor diagnosed bronchiolitis as well as a sore throat. By the next morning he’d got worse so we sought a second opinion from the GP and they discovered an ear infection, and shared concerns of his reduced intake and output. They sent us up to A&E that afternoon as he had refused anything orally and hadn’t had a wet nappy since early hours that morning. After struggling with the fluid challenge and sitting in A&E for many hours, they agreed to admit him, albeit a reluctant decision admitted by the doctor. When we got onto the ward, he had minimal observations done, no tests and doctors were reluctant to do anything although he had now been 24 hours without passing urine and he was very lethargic. I had to request the nurse to check his BP which was slightly elevated, but I was told it was fine. His sats were 91 on two occasions, in comparison to 95 the night when we initially had breathing concerns, yet once again I felt I was brushed off saying he was fine. When the doctors did ward round they expressed they weren’t concerned and they didn’t want to do anything with him and he will perk up, and they will hopefully get the results from swabs done to help diagnose what the issue is. I had to question about these swabs which were noted in his documentation as done but they hadn’t been. The nurse then came and corrected the doctor and said it was still yet to be done. At this point I had lost confidence in all care and felt very brushed off. When we were discharged he had passed a small amount of urine, and still significantly reduced fluid intake and eating. The following day he had improved slightly but he was still very unwell. On the Monday we took him to the GP again, where they noticed his chest was still wheezy and he was still working a little hard. They prescribed steroids at that point and booked to review him a couple of days later. I feel if the hospital hadn’t brushed him off initially he would’ve been able to recover quicker and if my concerns were heard originally a lot of the issues wouldn’t have occurred. I was disappointed with the lack of concern and care given on this occasion, so much so that it’s given me significant doubt in returning in the future for any medical emergencies or concerns with my children, although it being the closer hospital I would endeavour to go elsewhere when possible.
