  1. Review titled Time wasted by nurses

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Mike Shepherd - Posted on 02 May 2023

having spent 8 hours in a&e on two separate weekends with my wife who has now been omitted, i was able to observe the amount of wasted time the nurses spent walking up and down the isle calling out names. surely the trust could put in a simple electronic call up system similar to those used in surgeries. this would free up the nurse to clean up and prepare for the next patient. this is not difficult, but I suggest this would reduce wait times but more important would reduce the stress on nurses that get frustrated when trying to find people. most patients are familiar with being called by electronic screens in doctors surgeries and i am confident it would work in a&e. apologies for no capital letters this software would not allow them.

  2. Review titled Excellent Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Peter Casey - Posted on 14 April 2023

On 3rd April 2023 I had a seizure at home. No breathing and no heartbeat. Paramedics and ambulance crew responded magnificently and brought me back to life before taking me to A&E at Lister Hospital. The team of doctors and nurses in A&E were amazing. They gave me tests and treated my condition with medication before transferring me to a cardiology bed. Although my time in A&E was quite short I felt very well cared for by a team of excellent professional medical staff who also provided reassurance and kindness to my very anxious family. I am very grateful for everything you did to help me that night. Deepest appreciation and thanks.

My daughter came in with dislocated shoulder following a seizure. She has autism as was looked after so well. Nothing was too much. The ladies in AED went above and beyond. A national treasure

  4. Review titled Thank you

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Helen - Posted on 11 April 2023

Thank you to the staff in A&E who cared for my elderly father for 24 hours with compassion and professionalism, especially given that industrial action was taking place at the time. I mostly interacted with nurses, nurse managers, and staff in discharge including HCAs, porters, Ambulance staff and cleaners. Everyone was kind and working hard to help patients and families. Thank you all very much.

  5. Review titled very poor

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I received two text messages on Saturday about an appointment for my aunt on the 15th. The text messages gave me options to confirm, rebook or cancel. having no paperwork relating to the appointment and what is for I wanted to speak to someone from Ophthalmology. Two attempts to speak to someone. On the 1st the phone went dead when put through by the operator. On the second the phone was answered but placed down, no one spoke to me but I could hear staff taking talking together and to patients. There were also long periods of silence. Do your highly trained staff need training in using the phone or is your normal practice to lift the receiver and leave the caller hanging for over 30 minutes? As a consequence of this extremely poor practice I was forced to terminate the call and cancel an appointment for my Aunt at short notice. Please remember there are times when we need to speak to someone.

  6. Review titled A&E and X-ray

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sarah - Posted on 10 April 2023

I was seen incredibly quickly after having dislocated my shoulder. The staff were kind, and the communication between the doctor, X-ray and myself was clear and prompt. Couldn’t fault the treatment and am thankful for such kind people.

During my two visits and 1 telephone app on - everything was explained very clearly by the Respiratory team. They made me feel very comfortable and are always there if I have any queries or concerns. Excellent service.

Went to Yellow zone, area 6. Went with a member of family to assist. The team were fully aware I have anxiety coming to appointments, but did nothing to help, just stood there and waited for me to stop stressing like a statue glaring into my soul. Didn't give me any chance to talk either. Get the crew trained on anxiety when coming to appointments. The receptionist was lovely, that was the only positive thing.

  9. Review titled A&E receptionist 2 13:25 6th April

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Andy MacRae - Posted on 06 April 2023

Asked for help locating someone and the receptionist had an attitude that showed she clearly could not be bothered. She waved to the waiting room and said “look around or ask a nurse” then went back to her computer. I was dismissed. I said thanks for your help. I honestly wasn't thankful and she said “Oh really, how can i help you, clearly ready for an argument. When I spoke to her about her attitude she became even more belligerent. I don't think its to much to ask for help or empathy from reception when you drop someone off that is ill. She was short on both.

  10. Review titled Fantastic patient care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Damian - Posted on 24 April 2023

I don’t enjoy the hospital or Doctors at the best of times but I do have to say I was admitted for day surgery and everyone I had dealings with were polite, respectful, caring and understanding to all of my concerns and worries. I would just like to that the team at Lister Urology for putting me and my mind at ease . Thank you and kind regards.
