Review titled Awful service
Rated 1 star out of 5

I’ve recently been to lister hospital woodlands clinic and they are very unhelpful and left me for hours misscarrying my child with no support or anyone coming to check on me they did not even do my observations and I’m absolutely disgusted they were pressuring me to have surgery when they wrongly diagnosed me with an ectopic pregnancy and then when they told me it was definitely not ectopic they still wanted me to take medication and have surgery and I was passed from doctor to doctor with no clarification of what was actually wrong I also called the hospital before I went there that I was bleeding and they told me to come down with in an hour and I will be seen right away as it’s urgent I waited for three and a half hours and I ended up leaving due to sitting in my own blood in a hospital where I was not being cared for

Review titled Appalling appointment system
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Once a year I see a consultant in the neurology department, after which I am given a letter with an appt for a years time. Every time, I then receive another letter 2 wks later, that cancels the appt. The letter states ‘we’ll contact you’ to renew the appt but this has never happened!! What a waste of resources to give, then cancel appts in this manner!! Didn’t used to be like this, and I don’t understand why it happens every time now. This needs reviewing please please please!!!

I had a pacemaker box change and this was NHS at its best! I was very apprehensive but found the team very kind and supportive including doctors! I would certainly recommend this treatment for others. who need similar treatment! Thank you so much

Review titled Fantastic service

I was referred to Gynae outpatient services by my GP and needed to attend firstly colposcopy and then Hysteroscopy clinic for treatment. Both clinics were so efficient, informative, friendly and quick. No waiting in waiting areas. And pain free, empathetic treatments. All the staff from reception to consultant and all inbetween were so lovely. A great team!! I thank them so much for looking after me. Felt well cared for.

Review titled Poor information
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Was given an appointment via text in the 'oral surgery' dept. It is not listed on the Lister plan and after being sent to several different places via helpful but unknowing staff, I was stressed and anxious not only for my appointment but because I was then late. I spent 20 minutes trying to find where I should have been. If it wasn't for a super helpful woman on the eye clinic desk who found where I should have been, I think I would have been a weeping stressed wreck. So, huge thanks to eye clinic staff. The Dr I saw in 'oral surgery' (I never would have found it on my own and using the poor signage at Lister) was then dismissive, condescending and rude. All in all an unpleasant 75 minutes. The other staff I encountered were pleasant and tried to be helpful. Firstly, to help alleviate some of the stress, in the text stating where you have an appointment, ie Oral Surgery, include, yellow zone 2a. This is such a simple addition but would have saved me a lot of stress, at a time when I was already anxious. As for the Dr, I think he forgot that most people don't actually want to be at hospital at all, I didn't refer myself to his clinic, I was there due to a genuine concern. He was completely desensitised to any feelings, thoughts or concerns that I had. I certainly would not be in any rush to attend his clinic again but would probably attend a different hospital due to this interaction. Huge thanks to those staff members who were helpful, but seriously Lister, simple instructions of where to be are a basic must. As for the Dr, I wish that I hadn't been so stressed and anxious and challenged his manner at the time.

Review titled Long wait times
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 14 December 2022
Was sent to A&E by the 111 service after struggling with breathing. Was told on arrival there was an 11 hour wait but thought maybe this was an exaggeration. It wasn’t! The staff were rushed off their feet the whole day. They all worked so hard under such trying conditions and I take my hat off to them. They remained courteous to all the patients even the most difficult ones. It shocked me so much the change in NHS services….. the last time I visited A&E would have been 14 years ago for a broken wrist and things were not nearly as manic. Hope not to be back for a long time if ever!

Review titled No facility for those shielding..........
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Fred Hogg - Posted on 16 December 2022
Attended at 7.50 am and a sign was on reception stating it was a 12 hour wait to see a doctor. I had been sent to A & E by my doctor in the Macmillan department due to my fibrosis and pneumosis in her opinion I need to be admitted for intravenous steroid treatment, admittance having to be done by A & E. But with having to shield due to my conditions could not wait in a packed department I've only got to pick up one good chest bug on top off what I have and it's goodbye Vienna. Could someone please explain how I can attend the A & E safely ??? Past experiences have always been very good in the department, my personal situation has changed.

Review titled Brilliant Service
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had an ultrasound at Hertford County , which was booked quickly and was on time and good experience. The staff were lovely. I was then referred to Lister Hospital for a procedure . The turnaround was so quick . I was very impressed by this , as it is a worrying time waiting . I had my procedure today , I saw a consultant , had the procedure and had the results all within 30 mins . A fantastic service , and luckily for me , a clean bill of health . A great relief before the festive holiday . Well Done All

Review titled 10 hours in A&E, went home due to no bed available
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 30 December 2022
111 urged me to go to Urgent Care. 5 hours there. Sent by doctor to A&E Lister to see ENT Consultant. Despite being told this would mean we wouldn't have to join the queue, we did. The place was packed full, it was 10pm at night when we walked in on Boxing Day. It took 2 hours before a blood test/covid test was done, then another hour to see a nurse for temperature/blood pressure/oxygen test. Another hour to see the doctor who ordered IV for antibiotics, steroid, paracetemol and fluids, which took another hour to come. Was told to wait 2 hours to see if any improvement. No improvement so told to stay for observation and be admitted. From 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. no doctors were around, just nurses who were rushed off their feet. Patients had to ask for repeat painkillers/medication, no checks were made on anyone. We were sat on hard plastic chairs in rows surrounded by people vomiting, passing out, coughing and spluttering for 10 hours only to be told we have no beds and 19 people waiting for a bed who are elderly/more vulnerable so we suggest you go home unless you want to wait until the afternoon when there may be a possibility of a bed. Ward nurse not sympathetic at all and made no attempt to reassure us that it would benefit us to stay. We went home as my son had not slept all night and had nothing to eat. We felt that we were let down the one time we needed the NHS.

Review titled Poor communications
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Denise Chalkley - Posted on 16 January 2023
I am extremely disappointed with the poor communications from this department. Trying to get to speak with someone is nigh impossible. Thank goodness for the PALS department. All the phones redivert to 01438 284060 which isn't manned and voicemails not being picked up or acted upon. This number was also given as an emergency line post biopsy. Considering my referral was under the 2 week wait and results are late and overdue, talking to someone would have helped reduce anxiety. Such poor systems of communications - the absolute fundamental in healthcare services.
