Back in June. I was found to have a blocked kidney due to a tumour. Which later was discovered as lymphoma. I was given a procedure called a nephrostomy By a lovely team of very friendly nurses & dr. At the same time also had some biopsies taken. I’ve been in & out that dept 6 times in total for procedures & it’s always the same lovely nurses. They make you feel at home & are so caring & kind. Dept is called fluoroscopy dept. As well as imaging department I would like to say a big thankyou to all that work in that department. Also to the drs who done my procedures Thankyou A great dept couldn’t find anything bad about this department who work so hard. & never moan & are always lovely happy people. A big thanks to you all

  3. Review titled great treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jeremy Cope - Posted on 08 December 2022

After a call to 111 took my Dad ,who is 92 ,to accident &emergency with high blood sugar levels and risk of sepsis . He was very confused and I was concerned about a possible wait with a potentially life threatening condition . He was seen straight away ,and they even found a bed for him straight away . From start to finish the treatment he received and the attitude from all the staff was fantastic . He was discharged later that evening after lots of tests and examinations. I felt this needed to be noted as the National health service and the Luton and dunstable hospital get a lot of bad press at times , not however in this instance

  4. Review titled Rude reception on operator phone

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 December 2022

I called today to find out what ward my father is on at the hospital as he's recently had a stroke and and is 71 years old. The operator was being rude for some reason. I tried to give her the care home he reside in an she said "that doest matter to her" I felt like hanging up the phone. This is very upsetting that my father is suffering in hospital and the staff on phone don't have compassion to provide immediate family of location of their family member at lnd hospital.

  5. Review titled Absolute chaos

Rated 1 star out of 5

I went to the hospital after a car crash, and after waiting hours finally was seen by the doctor, as I had difficulty moving my arms, headaches and neck pain were ignored, but quite quickly I had Xrays, then I waited hours to get results, I was told that my spine bone is broken so I am going for CT scan, and to see orthopaedic doctor, while waiting for CT scan I witnessed paramedics conversation how much they miss Covid time and wish to happen again as the hospital was nice and quiet then, after the scan I was taken to ward, I was already 8 hours in the hospital, as Mt blood was not taken at E&A nurse was not happy and placed me in small waiting area on the chair, I kept waiting terrified that I have broken spine, I had a person coming every 30 minutes assuring me that doctor is aware that I am there and will come to see me, never happened, over two hour later a nurse came and said that nobody will see me , scan showed that my spine is not broken but compressed and practicly I wasn't at the ward as nobody accept me there and it was only E&A wrong decision, and I need to go back to GP, literally I spend 11 hours in the hospital like I wasn't there, good luck to anyone in need of help,

  6. Review titled Excellent Experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Pandora Smith - Posted on 21 December 2022

I visited Last night and was efficiently dealt with by reception and triage. I had to wait a few hours before I saw a dr. However I was seen by a lady dr and she was excellent. I had been unable to get a GP appointment for 2 days and was suffering from a chest infection. I was examined and treated with a nebuliser steroids antibiotics and a chest xray and a referral to the respiratory clinic. Very impressive. Also a mention for the nurse who gave me the nebuliser she was caring and professional. I felt instant relief. Thank you very much.

  9. Review titled Concerns related to my hysteroscopy

by AnonJ - Posted on 02 February 2023

I had a post menopausal bleed and my referral on the cancer pathway was very quick, however, after my internal scan I was booked for a hysteroscopy and in the information sheet (that I eventually received) it was suggested that I take paracetamol. The leaflet also said that they like to avoid general anaesthetic for this procedure. I should have been offered anaesthetic and it should been explained to me that because of my personal situation, it would be better for me to have anaesthetic. However, I had to insist and only knew that this could be an option because of the campaign against painful hysteroscopy group. I found out through the campaign that 25 to 30% of people going for this procedure suffer INTENSE pain, on a scale of 7-10 out of 10, but the leaflet indicates that I might suffer some discomfort. Apparently, because of other issues, which I explained at the appointment, I stood a very high risk of being in that 25-30% group. The consultant told me that they needed to do a biopsy; I asked if they thought I had cancer and they replied that they needed to do a biopsy. I was given the impression that I needed that ASAP but if I wanted a general anaesthetic, I'd have to wait for an indeterminate period of time, maybe two months. I have found out that the target for the cancer pathway is 62 days from first referral, to actual treatment. I was referred mid August, but by the time I'd had my hysteroscopy under general anaesthetic, it was mid November and mid December before I found out that I didn't have cancer. What if I had? Why wasn't I told, officially, before arriving at my original appointment that the potential for severe pain was so high? Why was I made to feel as if I was a nuisance for insisting on anaesthetic? Why was I told, by the appointments desk that my wait could be over a year? Why was it so difficult to get through to anyone on the telephone?
