I have just undergone surgery for a Hysterectomy at Maidstone Hospital. I cannot thank everyone concerned from the Surgeons, anesthetists, ward staff, discharge lounge staff, and the cheery reception staff at Oncology.

  2. Review titled Regained my faith in the NHS

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Trafford Fox - Posted on 29 November 2023

I went in for a short stay surgery and to say I was nervous was an understatement. But the care from going in to the moment I left, was well amazing. I've had really bad experiences with Pembury and Maidstone Hospital has made me feel that when I am at hospital, I feel looked after again. Thank you so much to all the staff in admissions, theatre, and short stay surgery... you are all angels.

  3. Review titled Great care all round

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Maddy - Posted on 22 October 2023

Brilliant care all round, I went to Urgent Care and the repetitionists were friendly, despite having to (very professionally) deal with someone complaining about a potential hour wait time. The triage nurse preempted me needing an x-ray so sent me to that while I would've otherwise have been waiting for the doctor. The x-ray staff were lovely and patient with me. The doctor needed to refer me to another department and asked us to have a seat in the waiting room until they got back to him, he then noticed we had been waiting a while (just over 30 minutes) and let us know he was going to chase it up. Shortly after he called us in and let us know what would be happening next and even gave me tips to help me sleep while I was unwell, even though I'd only briefly mentioned that being a issue about an hour before. Everyone I spoke to was friendly, I felt listened to and the care was efficient without being rushed. I was in and out within 3 hours despite being nowhere near an emergency. Thank you all very much 😊

  4. Review titled Confidentiality and privacy issues

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Sitting in the waiting room accompanying a patient, patients were called to the other side of an open/ partial wall to answer personal questions. Do you have a catheter, date of birth how much have you drunk. , what their procedure is and sometimes what the procedure involves, the occupancy of blood in urine ????? This discussion is fully audible to the entire waiting room of people. I pointed this out, my concern was then confirmed by another patient but I was not convinced I was heard or taken seriously. The desk has a notice to say ‘your privacy is important to us’?...it does not appear so, the problem is obvious and very concerning. This is personal subject matter for anyone.

  6. Review titled Ridiculous

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Went to have eye check. After getting stinging drops in eyes, was called through for scan. Only seemed to scan right eye and when I questioned this was told both eyes were done. Went back to waiting room after being told up to 120 minute wait as lots of people in front of me. 5 minutes later called back to scan as they had 2 of right eye & no left. This was apparently my fault because I blinked!! Finally got in to see consultant and sent for blood tests at 17.15 but phlebotomy closed at 16.30…., seriously?? Sent back to Opthalmology as told “doctor can do it”. Back at Opthalmology told to book online another day and nurse at desk seemed to find it amusing that I was sent for blood test after 16.30. Now have to arrange appointment another day & time which is additional travel cost and time off work. Like the regular 2 hour wait in Opthalmology isn’t disruptive enough

  7. Review titled Ms Datta Clinic

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I am a woman over 50 and was referred to the hospital after what is considered un abnormal bleeding. I do understand that consultants are busy, overworked etc. But nevertheless, in this case we are dealing with a potential risk of cancer. I was rather astonished by the tone of and the general condescending approach of the consultant, who simply refused to listen more than once, preferring to stick to not entirely correct notes sent by some GP clark. Surely, being over 50, I can have a say about my own body and events that happened to me without having to repeat myself multiple times and hearing: But it says here you had bleeding yesterday... (no it didn't.) Being a bit more of a human and paying a little bit more of attention to the patient (yes, we are patients, not some guilty school kids), could have made the experience much better. It's scary enough to have to think of a possibility of a cancer, without being effectively ignored a few times during the appointment. And what does a comment: "You are quite sensitive down below" (may not be the exact quote, but the essence is there) possibly mean? Yes, the biopsy was quite painful and this is coming from a person who had a few procedures done over a lifetime. I must say that other staff members were extremely nice and very helpful.

  8. Review titled Still waiting for CT scan results

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 September 2023

I had a CT scan at Hermitage Court 8 weeks ago on 4th August 2023 and I'm still waiting for the results (as at 27/9/23) to be passed to my GP. I've called at my surgery on numerous occasions and even rang the Imaging Dept at Maidstone Hospital. The scan was still waiting to be 'read' a week ago. I was told I can't personally chase it up - it has to be my GP or the Medical Secretary at the medical practice. Last time I had a CT scan (2 years ago) the results came through within 2 weeks! Very frustrating!!

My husband was in A & E in Maidstone Hosp today following a conversation with the receptionist at our doctors surgery who suggested he went there. I dropped him at 10am and picked him up at 4pm and he said his care was very thorough and excellent, lovely friendly staff. Thank you to them all.

I came into the Cornwallis ward for a hysterectomy and I would like to thank everyone for my care from the oncology department and that of my surgeon to the lovely lady who brought my hot chocolate in the morning. The nurses were so professional and kind .I cannot name everybody because I know there were many other people who took part in my care that I did not see, so thank you all and I hope this can be forwarded to the relevant departments.
