Review titled My son's stay

My son was admitted to Oak Ward and he was looked after so well. He was so worried about the surgery he had booked in, but they went above and beyond. The lady coming around with games and Lego also went down very well and kept him busy.

I am extremely pleased to hear everyone involved with your son’s care looked after you all so attentively. I appreciate hospital stays and surgery can be hugely daunting for children and young people and we were able to provide all the support your son needed through this stressful time. I hope your son is now recovering well from his surgery. I will pass on your kind comments to our paediatric staff members, Play therapists and the surgical team who looked after your son. Review titled Calm & efficient

I went to A&E 5 Jan with a bloated stomach. I was immediately impressed by the quiet waiting room and then the efficient way in which I was dealt with by the receptionist and the triage nurse. I was taken to the odu and then admitted. After tests and treatment no operation was needed and I was discharged. At all times I was well treated by efficient friendly staff. Thank you!

Most of the staff were friendly - my praise especially goes to a HCA on Hestercombe for their bright, cheerful, happy to help attitude, a porter who was happy, chatty and reasurring even at 10.45pm, and the cleaner on the ward who cleaned all surfaces thoroughly. Room had biscuit crumbs on the floor, tissue, pieces of plastic tubing. Another cleaner mopped over dirt, did not mop bathroom, minimal wiping of surfaces. Bed pans, bowls, wipes left on chairs in bathroom & bedroom. Curtains - only one which did not fit. One light over two beds meant that when my fellow patient wanted lights out at 8 pm I had no light to read by. Refreshments person very off hand with fellow patient because they changed their mind about having tea. For my fellow patient, I think someone could have helped them choose easier to eat food, encouraged them to sit out to eat and cut up difficult food. Food was often cold with items missing. Not very appetising, the waste must be immense. Vegetables were overcooked and swimming in water. Day room - I wasn't informed there was a day room. The TV remote was missing (NB there is a small joystick on the back of the TV but most people would not notice this). The back of the TV was very dusty. Sofa in day room is grubby. Staff using the room as overspill staff room were quite noisy. One of the nurses wore extremely strong perfume which was quite overwhelming. Equipment in corridors under signs saying 'Do not leave equipment here or block access'. A nurse approached me in the day room to remove my canula whilst I was finishing my lunch. I also had a visitor with me and feel this is totally inappropriate. Having said all this I am most grateful for the care I received. I would, however, like better communication of what was happening instead of having to chase staff for updates. I feel improvements could be made quite easily to make a better experience for the patients.

My ANP was concerned about my symptoms and said he would arrange an MRI scan via the spinal pathway. I was offered this for the same afternoon. I was seen and scanned almost as soon as I arrived. I had a relatively short wait until I was seen by a doctor who examined me and explained the scan results and the future referral I could expect. The system was so efficient All the staff I had contact with were friendly ,,helpful and totally professional Wonderful care

Review titled My baby’s tricky start into the world

We were sent to Taunton from Bristol and to start with I was very scared about being moved so far away from home. However me and my husband couldn’t have made to feel any more comfortable and looked after. They have cared for our son so incredibly well, he is a different baby to when we came here. The staff here are a credit to the NHS and we can’t thank them enough for everything they have done for all 3 of us.

Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know about your experience, when things must be so busy with a young baby. I am really glad to hear that you felt well looked after and comfortable in our care, as we try to appreciate how particularly difficult it is to move away from somewhere you know and to no longer be close to your family and friends. Your feedback will help staff to continue to remember the importance of supporting families.

Attended early on Saturday evening after my nearly 3 year old fell off the bed and bit through his tongue. We were seen and discharged from a & e within 2 hours with a planned admission the following morning for surgery. Excellent communication from the surgeon, nurses and anaesthetist, we were in for 8am, theatre by 9.45, out of theatre within 45 mins and we left the hospital by 11.30. We are so fortunate to have such a fantastic NHS service nearby. Thanks to everyone from a & e, paediatrics and anaesthetics/ maxfax that looked after us.

I was admitted for surgery under general anaesthetic. Things were very well organised. the anaesthetist was brilliant as was the surgeon. The nursing staff were very professional. The outcome of my surgery has improved my general comfort and my walking. I am very pleased indeed!

The staff members went above and beyond for us to make sure we had everything we needed and were cared for. We unfortunately sat in resus for around 7 hours before being moved to the PAU. But once there I can’t complain about anything and the staff were absolutely amazing.

Review titled Miserable Receptionist in ED

I am sat here at 0722hrs listening and watching a receptionist in ED. Everything is an effort . She is rude to members of the public , the radio is loud and when she can’t hear them she asks them abruptly to repeat themselves making out that they are not speaking clearly . I have just asked her a question regarding medication for my husband whilst we are are waiting in the waiting room to be seen and she has not even given me any eye contact . We are all struggling at the moment whilst working for the NHS but this lady just needs a bit more sympathy with the patients and families and maybe this feedback may help her to make a bit more of an effort at her job role .
