  1. Review titled Inefficient receptionist

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 September 2022

I had to call reception 3 times in order to be put through to the relevant department. I was cut off twice, put through to the wrong department and left listening in on a conversation the receptionist was having when she mistakenly thought she had put me on hold. The third time the call was answered by a different, & very efficient, receptionist who put me through to the relevant department without delay. Clearly further training is needed for staff who don't know what they're doing, & praise given to the ones that do.

Was very impressed by the level of professionalism, speed and genuine care during my visit to the Same Day Emergency Care ward. Miles better than any other hospital I’ve been to.

  3. Review titled Forgotten About!

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 September 2022

Attended a&e29/09/2022 at 8.30pm and was seen in triage at 10.30pm. Had bloods taken an 1 hour later and was seen by a doctor at just gone Midnight I explained that I'd had severe headache in one specific area and had routine assessment, at which point the doctor suggested a CT scan. Doctor told me at 12.30am that this would take a couple of hours. At 3am, I was finally took for the scan, which took a couple of minutes, at 6am I was still waiting for the results, at no point was I offered pain relief by anyone and the nurses who were on didn't seem to care if care was given, more interested in their conversations regarding each other! Would I recommend this a&e, no I wouldn't!!!

  4. Review titled Saved my life - literally!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Liz Wagner - Posted on 08 June 2023

On 29 Sept last year I suffered an out of hospital cardiac arrest. About 10 days after the event I came round and the staff were fantastic, my sons told me how the nurses cared for me and made sure they were kept fully informed along the way. The mention of brain damage was made on more than one occasion but thanks to cooling treatment, within 4 weeks I was back at university (mature student) and 8 months later and back to my pre hospital stay condition. No underlying issue was found and I now have an ICD fitted so if I do it again I should self shock. The care and professionalism from doctors through to the lady who brought me my food is excellent, staff are amazing and caring beyond reproach. The team their literally saved my life and I will be eternally grateful, as will my two youngish sons.

  5. Review titled Compassionate care for my eating disorder

    by Guidingstar87 - Posted on 23 August 2022

I was admitted to Vickers 3 at the Northern General Hospital due to a relapse of my eating disorder. This was a very difficult time, especially being admitted to a general hospital with a mental health problem. However, the staff on Vickers 3 worked really hard to try and support me as much as they could in my stay. Working with me to create a meal plan, guidelines of how best to support me whilst eating and after, getting to know me and my mental health and triggers so these could be managed when they arose. I never once felt judged (common for mental health patients) and felt like I was treated as a human being, not an illness. Staff were really keen to learn more about eating disorders, and how best to help people and I was pleased to see some changes being made already from my feedback. Keep up the good work!

  10. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sandra Moss - Posted on 18 July 2022

I visited A&E yesterday following a fall and I was experiencing pain in both wrists. I expected many hours of waiting, however, reception were very professional and efficient, they referred me immediately to X-Ray where I was seen within minutes. The radiologist was also professional caring and efficient. I was then directed immediately to fracture clinic and only had to wait a few minutes to be seen. This staff member was also very professional, kind and caring. She was very reassuring and informed me that the trauma team would look at my X-Ray the following day and contact me should I need further treatment. She provided a splint and offered advice for the next few days. The whole experience was only about one hour! I am so very grateful to the whole team and hope they are made aware of this review.
