  1. Review titled Friendly and efficient

by Mrs Robust - Posted on 11 September 2023

Although there was a long wait between treatments, the staff at The Royle eye department were, without exception, very friendly and efficient. I can’t praise them enough.

Dear Mrs Robust ‘Thank you very much for your comments regarding your visit to the Royle Eye Department. Feedback is very important to the team, to see if we are able to improve our service. Although we appreciate the Royle Eye Department can have long waits between investigations and seeing the Clinician, we can only re-assure patients that this is due to the number of patients being seen in clinic during the session. It is very nice, kind and thoughtful for you to provide this feedback on your visit, and it is much appreciated. This will be passed onto the staff, to ensure they are aware. Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback.’ Regards Zoe

  2. Review titled Broken Hip

    by March57 - Posted on 30 November 2023

One very snowy/icy morning I slipped & fell on the patio at home, the result was a broken hip. I couldn't get up on my own & was unable to walk as I couldn't control my leg & the pain was very bad. Husband drove me to our local hospital for X-rays which confirmed that it was broken so was taken by ambulance to Pilgrim Hospital in Boston.

  3. Review titled I was looked after very well

    by Suzanne581 - Posted on 25 August 2023

After a terrible fall from a trip, I was treated in Skegness with speed and efficiency for a dislocated thumb, there were other injuries but this was the most severe. It could not be put back here and I was referred to Boston Hospital, they were contacted ahead to advise of my coming and they confirmed back they would be waiting for me due to the length of time of the dislocation. I was dealt with quickly yo start assessed etc was only after all of the procedures did things slow down considerably. But overall I was looked after very well and all the staff were very friendly and courteous. Considering my pain and being emotional, they were great.

  4. Review titled Could not fault

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 August 2023

Today I have spent time in Same day emergency unit, Staff couldn’t do enough to reassure my husband and myself. We were offered and given refreshments, on more than one occasion, making this department feel friendly and relaxed. There is a professional but reassuring atmosphere. All the staff are happy to talk and laugh with the patients to relax them.

  6. Review titled The whole experience was a really positive one

    by C F from Boston - Posted on 17 August 2023

Had an appointment to investigate a lump in the breast clinic. I was nervous about my appointment at the breast clinic and arrived early to give myself good time to find exactly where I needed to be. I needn’t have worried as the signs were great and I found the clinic easily. I thought the hospital looked and smelled very clean. Everyone I met in the breast clinic from the receptionist to the surgeon were all so friendly and professional. I arrived a little earlier for my appointment and was actually seen 10 minutes earlier which I would never have expected. The initial consultation, breast scan and results were all done within 30 minutes which far exceeded my expectations. Thankfully for me all was well and so I left feeling as if the whole experience was a really positive one. I am glad that the NHS have asked for a review as with so much negativity I was very happy to give a positive one. Well done Pilgrim Hospital and the breast clinic team! 10/10

  7. Review titled Stay in the surgical word

    by Sally 123 - Posted on 10 August 2023

Boston Pilgrim Hospital, surgical ward (5A) The staff was amazing, caring and there was nothing that was too much trouble for them. Couldn't fault them as a team. But on the bad side, the ward was in need of a complete refurbishment and updating as the whole area was so out dated, in my view. The main issues was as follows: Air Bed/mattress- so uncomfortable and not really easily to move on, not fit for purposes for the patients or nurses, in my opinion. The beds in the ICU unit would be a lot better as these was so much comfortable and gave move stability and a lot more easy to move around on. Plus if all the bed was the same I think it would be more cost efficient and save in the long as all the beds would be the same where at present u have 2 sorts. Being short it took for me to call the nurse every time i need to get out of bed cause there is no function on the patient remove to change the height of the bed, cause with this bed if it's too low the mattress doesn't inflate correct if too low. Which took the nurse away from patient that could need them for an more urgent issue. Chairs - being the larger person i could not fit in the chairs on the ward so I couldn't sit out of bed, there this is not good for recovery. The chair also in the icu are perfect and should be used on the ward as these are perfect for the larger person. One plug socket per bed - I think this is so out dated when some of the beds need 2 per bed along with all the other pumps and equipment need to be plugged in. Having to use extension lead also can cause issue with trip hazards not only to staff but patients. TV/radio monitors - although in place was all out of order so no entertainment was available and there was no access to the hospital WiFi on the ward so I end up having to use my own mobile data and phone to listen to music or watch TV on. Over head lights - whilst my stay and patient move the light on the wall and it fell down so they left it, only to be check but a nurse in the morning to find it had nearly fell out of the wall. Spot light in the ceil would be better than stuff having off the walls. Call buttons - not all call buttons on the wall was lighting up near the beds so the nurses wasn't sure who need help. To help this would it be an idea to put a red light strip around the curtain rails so they can clearly see that patients need helps faster.

Dear Sally123 Thank you for your feedback which is really valuable to us and helps us to see where we need to make improvements. I am pleased you were satisfied with the nursing care and found the team responsive and caring. We are aware of the estates issued you have raised and are working on solutions for these to improve the environment. Thank you for your feedback around mattresses and chairs this is something we will investigate further. Once again, thank you for your comments, and I wish you well with your on-going recovery Kind regards Sharon

  8. Review titled Nightmare

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Simon Hull - Posted on 27 August 2023

Today, I dislocated my finger and went to Boston via Spalding as Spalding had no x ray machine. Arrived at 1, and by 1.30 had the x Ray showing a dislocation. Waited for 4 hours for someone to put it back into place. Unfortunately, I only saw 1 person during this time, who confirmed it was dislocated and that someone would be down from orthopedics shortly to push it into place. 2 hours later, and that person hadn't materialised. They couldn't find anyone else to do it, so I left. I now have to go to Peyerborough to get it x rayed all over again as they can't see anything on the Boston system. Nightmare.

We thank you for your feedback regarding your visit to Pilgrim A&E. We apologise that you were wating longer than you anticipated for a speciality doctor to review your injury. The process is such that A&E doctors will refer to speciality doctors to ensure the best outcome for the patient. The speciality doctors then review the patient in A&E. This can cause significant waits due to their workload and capacity. As a department we will forward on your feedback to the speciality involved. We will work at improving our time seen by speciality doctors by improving pathways for direct referrals. Kind regards, Vikki Hoadley

  9. Review titled They make this journey so much easier to face

by Austen fan - Posted on 15 August 2023

At the start of August I had my second cycle of carbo/plat and just 5 minutes before the end there was a bit of drama. The tube of the drip caught, the needle slipped, it hurt and my hand swelled. The reaction by the nurses was fantastic and a big shout out to them. They were professional, confident and reassuring, which meant I did not worry, after all its poison going in to your body. The doctor was called and he was excellent. I saw him again the next day and the protocol was followed to the letter and I cannot speak highly enough of him. He explained everything and was professional caring and kind. I would like to thank all the nurses on duty that day and those on duty at the Bostonian. They are all stars and it makes this journey so much easier to face when people are so kind.

  10. Review titled I can not praise this team enough.

    by flutefb88 - Posted on 27 July 2023

My current care and treatment is at Pilgrim Hospital. From my first diagnosis to my current on going treatment I can not fault the staff for their care, compassion and professionalism. The chemo suite team are always on hand if help or advice is required and make having treatment a pleasant experience with their smiles and sense of humour. I can not praise this team enough.
