All nursing staff and doctor's work extremely hard and care for each patient as individuals. I was lucky to be cared for at Gate 45b by all members of staff. Thank you.

  2. Review titled Why have I been given no more follow up appointments

by Wayne Scrivens - Posted on 02 April 2024

I seemed to be struck of as a patient for hyperthyroidism and have been a patient ar this hospital for over 5 years with 3-4 monthly check ups to make sure my thyroid is monitored for safe levels ! Yet now it’s been 5 months no appointments and no mention of me at all with your department at this hospital also I would like to point out I was also a patient at another department at this hospital for another medical issue with regular check ups and seemed to be wrote of that as well ! Has this hospital declared me dead or something like that to save money on appointments!! Very disappointing and if anything happens to me medical wise will consider options !! Not sure what this hospital is trying to do to me causing me stress and anxiety that I don’t need ! Why have I been struck off from two different departments at this hospital regarding out patients !! No One seems to want to let me know !! And like I said I get the feeling it’s to save money !

Dear Wayne Thank you for taking the time to post your comments. It is clear from your feedback how frustrated you have been left feeling and for that I am really sorry. Without patient details, it is difficult for me to look into this further to try and understand why you have had no further appointments. Given that this is a public website, please could I ask that you contact our PALS team (myh-tr.palsmidyorks@nhs.net) with your details so that they can look into this for you. Thank you again and I hope you will be in touch with PALS. Kind regards Clare Blackburn (Head of Patient Experience)

  3. Review titled More staff is needed

Rated 1 star out of 5

Waiting far too long for my elderly mother in excuriating pain in her stomach and violently sick to be seen by a consultant. The consultant couldn’t do a full examination as no space and not even the basic of a bed to be examined on. The consultant was polite at all times but couldn’t do the basics of examining my mother. Still waiting in A and E 12 plus hrs in a cubicle in her wheelchair in agony to wait for a bed on a ward. Also looked dirty too.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding both yours and your mum's experience. The Trust has continued to see a high number of patients within the department which has meant patients have been waiting longer than we would like to be seen. I fully acknowledge that this does not make for a positive experience. I am really sorry for such a negative experience and that your mum was waiting a considerable amount of time in pain and clearly unwell. We are doing everything we can to improve the situation and actions are underway to help improve the experiences of our patients. I have shared your feedback with the team. Thank you again and I wish your mum a speedy recovery. Kind regards Clare Blackburn (Head of Patient Experience)

Camera viewing nose & throat - fascinating! Better if video recorded for patient to take home or small screen patient could watch. Very pleasant and unworrying appointment.

My 15 yr old son went to a&e on a Friday at 3.30pm with a suspected broken thumb (it was in 2 places) although we were there a while both nurses were lovely and kind and we expected to wait a while. We were impressed by the way they spoke to my son and the information given. Thank you for looking after him when everyone was so busy.

  6. Review titled My review is regarding the catering.

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Tammy Firth - Posted on 25 October 2023

The food at pinderfields is lovely. I stayed 2 weeks and the only meal i didnt enjoy was the sunday lunch. (The beef was tough). I absolutely loved the jacket potatoes and cheese! But!! Since coming home, i have learned from my nurse that potato skins should be avoided for a while! Once i was allowed off my liquid only diet, jackets were on my menu at least once a day. I am not wanting to complain! But on those wards, surely they should let the patients know that they should not eat the skins.

  7. Review titled All in all it was quite painless

by Jillybighair - Posted on 06 October 2023

After a period of post menopausal bleeding I was referred to pinderfields under the 2 week cancer pathway! I was seen by the team and given a trans vaginal scan and was told my lining was thickened and I would need a biopsy. I had a biopsy done which was painless and a cervical polyp removed at the same time which I also found quite bareable. I waited about 3 weeks for the results and was told the polyp was benign and only benign polyp material was found on the womb biopsy so I was to have a hysteroscopy with a myosure procedure to remove any polyps. I was then taken of the 2 week pathway and awaited my appointment which changed quite a few times over the next few months. When my appointment finally arrived I had stupidly read some reviews of the hysteroscopy about it been barbaric and invasive and as I was having it awake, I was petrified.I really don’t know why! The dr and his team were lovely, explained what was happening and I can truthfully say it was no worse than a smear! I had local anaesthetic in my cervix and didn’t feel that either! Only thing I felt was pressure and barely any pain at all! All in all it was quite painless other than pressure and a strange feeling of water inside! I would not worry if I had to have another!

  8. Review titled Fantastic experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I gave birth to my first child at Pinderfields hospital in September. The whole hospital experience was absolutely brilliant. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable, kind and competent. The compassion and genuine care both my partner and I experienced was really exceptional throughout our whole time there and really worthy of acknowledgement for how it impacted our whole experience.

  9. Review titled Shocking

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 September 2023

Went to A and E as my GP wasn’t answering the phone. Presented with symptoms of shaking, chills, upper abdomen pain, extreme fatigue and bad brain fog. Waited 4 hours on an uncomfortable chair praying I would not pass out. Doc saw me, rude woman, felt my abdomen and said” there’s nothing wrong so I can’t give you anything, no tumours or cysts”. I was shocked as I never said anything about tumours or cysts. I asked for blood tests and she tried to push me off by saying it’s a diff department and I’ll be waiting hours and hours, I told her I’ll wait. Then she sent me back to waiting room and she would arrange a urine test. 3 hours later, another doc came and called me to take blood. Said she would send a nurse to see me to do Obs and a take a urine sample. No nurse arrived. Bloods were in range so I was sent home with a broad spectrum antibiotic. 5 days later I feel the same but can’t go through all those hours in A and E and made to feel like I’m wasting their time.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent experience. I am really sorry to read of the experience you have described and how staff were unsympathetic to your symptoms. The Trust has values and behaviour in place that staff must adhere to and I am sorry if this was not your experience. I have shared your feedback with the team in the department as it is important we learn from our patient's experiences. I am equally sorry that you are still not feeling well and therefore, I would advise you either try and make contact with your GP or speak to 111. Thank you again and I hope you feel better soon. 10. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had a heart attack. I called 999 to report my problem and was promised to arrive within an hour, but to my surprise, the ambulance arrived 10 minutes later. The guys asked about what happened, measured the blood pressure and did an ECG, they decided that the situation was difficult, I needed to be examined in the hospital, since this was my first time. I am glad that I found myself in the hands of well-trained and technically equipped specialists.
