  1. Review titled Urology day surgery for tumour

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 January 2024

Received great care from medical staff but concerned about minor details which would help - conflicting information on anaesthetic leaflets given by pre admission in King Georges, lack of info on discharge about supplies needed, or who to contact about queries. If the only reply to these reviews is contact PALS, why are reviews collected? Surely some follow up from here would be helpful? Most staff are helpful but a few are dismissive. A day spent as a patient could open their eyes.

  2. Review titled Fracture Clinic - Not fit for purpose

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Louise - Posted on 02 February 2023

I visited the fracture clinic with a shoulder issue after presenting at urgent care. I had xrays that apparently showed know skeletal abnormalities. The DR in the fracture clinic was meant to do further investigations. All he did was look at the xray and then tested the strength of my arm by doing various movements. He did not physically look at my shoulder. I was not asked to remove my top. If I had he would be able to see that the injured shoulder is not in the same position as the other uninjured shoulder. An MRI scan was requested which has a wait time of 6-8 weeks and in the meantime I am to start physio, which was where I was referred to in the first place by my GP when I first started having the shoulder issues. I have gone in a full circle, still suffering from pain that stops me from sleeping and effects me all day and everyday. You will see I was unhappy and attempted a conversation with PALS which was unsuccessful. I have since contacted the hospital to request a second opinion from a different DR.

  3. Review titled Excelent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 February 2023

Having had to attend the eye clinic for treatment to both eyes for differing conditions I have been impressed by the care provided and the courtesy of the clinical staff. Despite being clearly overstretched they are polite and caring, Appointments are provided as promised and those by post are followed by a telephone reminder. This area is a credit to Queens and those reposible for it.

I would like to pass on my thanks to all the staff on mandarin A ward who cared for my father during the time he spent on the ward. He was treated with great care and compassion and respect. The care was also extended to me and my family and when he unfortunately passed away the staff could not have been kinder. I hope this is passed on to them all They are Angels.

  7. Review titled Life saving care

Rated 4 stars out of 5

My husband was admitted to A&E on 12.12.22 with undiagnosed chest pain. We wish to thank all of the staff involved but particularly the lady doctor who treated him. He was diagnosed with an aortic dissection and promptly transferred to Barts where I am pleased to say he had surgery and 3 months later has made an excellent recovery. I am sorry that I do not know the doctor's name but the work of the A&E staff on that day undoubtedly saved his life.

  8. Review titled Bad early Assesment unit

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 December 2022

I am still sitting here in early pregnancy unit at 12.02am. Came in at 4.45pm and I still haven’t been seen by a dr, despite my condition and despite being asked to come in due to having issues. Most of the Nurses are quite nice apart from the odd few who have a chip on their shoulders. The nurse I was triaged by tonight wasn’t very pleasant at all, she could do with some customer service training. Do not have your baby here if you have health conditions or complications with your pregnancy, because chances are you will have a bad experience under this hospital’s care. Came in a few months ago to A&E and waited 10 hours to be seen for 5 min. So I definitely don’t recommend this hospital for emergency care.

  9. Review titled Queen's ENT and my Surgery advice differs

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 November 2022

The Trust website says I can be seen at the ENT Dept via GP referral, but this is not exactly so. Initially I was sent by a GP located at King George Hospital to the Hot ENT Clinic at Queen’s Hospital. After having seen two ENT doctors at this clinic, I was told that I need to see a Consultant as I was still spitting up blood after a procedure. (I have now been doing this for over two months). The second ENT doctor accordingly wrote to my GP recommending I see a Queen’s based Consultant. However, several people at my surgery told me that the GPs at the surgery do not refer patients to a Consultant anymore. However, two admin staff besides the ENT doctor at Queen’s were not aware of this, so rather than getting my health problem sorted, I became “piggy in the middle” being told different things by people from different parts of the Trust. I have now clarified the situation after many phone calls, emails and a lot of stress. I was also told by my surgery that Queen’s always think that the surgery can recommend patients seeing a Consultant, which now appears to be incorrect. Although well meaning, can somebody take responsibility and inform all the kind ENT staff that patients cannot always be referred to ENT Consultants by their GP. It is stressful enough spitting up blood daily, let alone being informed of the wrong information, however well intended. Thank you.

  10. Review titled Amazing staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by lesley gould - Posted on 03 November 2022

My daughter recently gave birth at Queens. At every point the staff were amazing and caring. As an NHS worker myself I know the stress the service are under and was slightly worried but all the staff in all the departments were attentive and friendly. Try and remember that most people only review when bad things happen and not good. Well done NHS.
