  2. Review titled The NHS system is broken!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Christina Hurst - Posted on 10 April 2023

After being taken to hospital by ambulance with pain, shaking and vomiting etc, the seeing triage and having blood tests was the easy part. Then the wait..I could not put up with the pressure caused on my stomach from being sat in a seat and my husband asked twice if there was a chair with the back that went down or somewhere I could lay to take this pressure away..that was a resounding no. After already waiting nearly 7 hours I told my husband I couldn't bare it another minute and to ask how many more were being seen before me. I heard the receptionist tell him 'you've only been here 6 1/2 hours, some people have been waiting 12, so it could be another few hours' I said thats it I'm going home.I had to lay down.I took the canula off (the needle had come out anyway) and came home. My problem still not resolved so my granddaughter contacted 111,a nurse rang me about 3 hours later and said to go back to A and E and say they had said to take me to see a Doctor on the Surgical Ward. We bypassed the A and E and went straight to the ward to see if I could get seen. We had arrived there in less then an hour after speaking to them, only to be told Sorry but there was no Doctor, he had gone home at 3pm, this was 3.50pm. So if we had 'booked in' at the A and E again first, what would have happened? Would I have to sit in pain again until the next day? I came home! So I'm still in pain and discomfort now but will put up with it until I can see a GP. The NHS service is broken. We talked to people who had been waiting 12/13 hours to see a doctor. There were people with kids and babies that were there when we arrived and still there when we left. Its wrong! If I'd been sat with an amputated leg I would still have prefered the kids were sorted first. I do actally feel sorry for the reception staff in general who you can see are getting it in the neck from patients that are fed up. ( other than the one who seemed to think we should be thankfull we had only been there for 61/2 hours). I was taken by ambulance at 9pm Thur evening and left at 4am Fri having not been seen by a Doctor. Some people had been there 12 hours. All we were asking for was a layback chair or anything to lay back on and we would have reluctantly waited alongside all the others but not even that would be given.

  3. Review titled Great care and consideration

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Angela - Posted on 20 April 2023

I left a lengthy message as I wanted to commend all who I saw in A&E but alas I couldn't do this so I will hope you all know who you are. On Tues 18th April I came to A&E on my GP's advice. All from the girl on the door inviting me to sit as she took my details as she saw I wasn't well through to nurses, the consultant (he was great), on to the scan team could not have treated me any better or more respectfully. Well worth my wait. More money will provide more staff to help you all in many ways plus more blood pressure monitors needed in each consulting room so all the hard working A&E team don't have to run from one room to another looking for one. You deserve it and more. Well done to you all in a bad and very busy climate. Angela

  5. Review titled Fantastic efficient caring service in a&e

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Helen S - Posted on 24 April 2023

For all the negativity and bad press that national a&e depts have received over last few years regarding waiting times and overcrowded waiting rooms, I think Rotherham Uecc has forged through the troubles and come out the other side, shining. From being greeted professionally at the front door by the Primary care team, with a caring , efficient attitude to the consultation with an a&e consultant who was just marvellous and sorted my health problems with compassion, empathy, professionalism and a smile, I am in awe of the work everyone does here. The Eda was brilliant too. There’s been a massive improvement and I am so appreciative of your service. Thankyou Rotherham Uecc you are all superstars !

  6. Review titled Caring, Clean and Friendly Hospital

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lisa Hoyland - Posted on 20 March 2023

Now I’m feeling better i just wanted to say thank you to all the staff who looked after me when I had to visit A&E last week. The care I received was faultless. I was given swift and thorough treatment for what could have been a nasty eye infection. However, thanks to them it was caught early enough not to become too serious. From reception, through to the triage and blood collection team, the A&E doctor, the nurses and the lovely man who got me ready for the CT scan, they are all a credit to the hospital and the NHS. Thank you all so much.

  7. Review titled 100% happy with my Mammogram

    by courageee76 - Posted on 15 March 2023

My mammogram was today. I was petrified and incredibly anxious, close to cancelling and denying the risks. You only need to hear one person say it so painful... to set your mind off in a cacophony of crazy pain scenarios! I have large breasts, KK to be precise so I was particularly worried about compression. Turns out, absolutely worried myself sick (almost literally) for nothing. The nurse was lovely, explained everything thing and allayed all my fears real and imagined. I feel really stupid for overthinking it. Yes its compression but its manual and slow, controlled by hand in the final part with the nurse doing it right next to you. I'm a shameless scaredy cat with pain, it did not hurt nor was it terribly uncomfortable. Of course this is my body and mind's experience, however I feel good to be sharing it in the hope many women who read it may be reassured. You only truly know once you've been through it and of course we don't all have the same nurse, hospital etc. 100% happy with Rotherham hospital today.

  8. Review titled Wonderfully Reassuring Experience

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 March 2023

I needed to attend the Urgent and Emergency Care Centre and was met with kindness and care from the first contact with the reception staff all the way through to nurses, doctors and technicians. All were polite and most importantly they took the time to listen properly. Any instructions were given clearly which was very reassuring. I then spent some time on the Same Day Emergency Care ward where once again the staff were marvellous despite working under a lot of pressure. My health problems were dealt with as quickly as possible and I could return home feeling cared for and with a clear plan for the future. Thank you to everyone involved.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 April 2023

This A&E is shocking & should be looked into, ! People waiting minimum of 8-12 Hours + waiting this time before even been assessed ! what has happened to our NHS. the standard advertised wait time on NHS is 4 Hours why are we waiting double / triple This & then been sent home, I was sent Numerous times by my GP due to chest pains, dizziness & shortness of breathe i sat hours & hours without any checks to be sent home to see GP without any checks apart from blood tests Other family members been & waited over 12 hours with shocking treatment. Staff just keep saying no beds.More Like No Drs … as they only Seem to pull the odd person every few hours From the waiting room Is this what our national health care is coming to ?? Shambles
