  1. Review titled Fantastic A&E staff!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Margaret Sunderani - Posted on 09 July 2023

My granddaughter was rushed in with a dislocated knee yesterday in absolute agony. She has special needs and was distraught. Almost the moment she arrived she was assessed. Staff were kind, reassuring extremely efficient and it seemed like a well oiled machine that just sprung into action. I cannot praise them enough for the way they dealt with the whole situation. In a few short hours she was medicated, x rayed and her leg plastered. She was given crutches and discharged with care instructions. Bravo A&E you were under so much pressure that night but still took the time to be compassionate and professional with a frightened child and her family. Bless u all!

Dear Margaret Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us and apologies for my delayed reply. We are pleased to hear how smoothly and efficiently the team came together to help your granddaughter in the best possible way, taking into account any special needs she may have so as not to cause more distress than a dislocated knee already had. We hope she has now made a full recovery and walking without any discomfort. Regards Patient Experience Team

  2. Review titled Poor abrupt treatment

From the moment I entered the procedure room I felt uncomfortable. The medic was abrupt and rude and made me want to burst into tears.

  3. Review titled Amazing staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Isabel - Posted on 08 June 2023

First of all I would like to thank the ambulance men. I was having a mini stroke and quick treatment wasn’t the word. Thank you. Next A&E under such pressure but were very lovely and how they cope goodness knows. I was then admitted to the stroke ward. Over next few days doctors nurses there wasn’t a single test I didn’t have. I saw many in different departments checking my abilities. Everyone was just great in their daily busy work I am full of admiration for them. I can’t put into words how lucky I am, how lucky everyone is to have you. It’s a very difficult time and so often gets taken for granted . Thank you so much.

Dear Isabel Apologies for the delayed response to your kind comments. It sounds like the care you received was very good from start to finish and highlights the excellent teamwork of front-line staff working together. We really appreciate the invaluable efforts the ambulance crews go to in making sure patients get to hospital in the best condition possible and then stay to support them on site until the point of handing them over to the hospital teams. The information they gather really helps to make sure you get to the right place for you so the care you receive in hospital can continue as seamlessly as possible. Like you said, the pressure they are under it is amazing they cope as well as they do, and comments like yours really help to keep a positive focus on the reasons they do the jobs they do, so thank you once again. 4. Review titled My dads care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Trisha Conway - Posted on 28 June 2023

I want to say that the staff on ward 25 and ward 22 were extremely caring towards my dad who is 103 and spent almost two weeks in their care . From nurses , doctors , hca’s, therapy and others were very professional ,caring and listened to family about future care for dad when discharged and what is in his best interests . The ward sister on ward 22 , nurses and discharge team plus everyone work under pressure day by day and manage to overcome what is a very challenging job . They don’t get enough recognition and deserve to be appreciated a lot more than they are . They are an example of what keeps the nhs ticking over . My experience of my dads stay for two weeks was handled well and respect was given and shown to my dad being such a ripe old age . Thank you from my dad , myself and our family for looking after him !

Dear Trisha Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and apologies it has taken so long to reply to you. Your sentiments are shared by so many people, we often receive praise for ‘the unseen teams’ who help to keep our services running smoothly and indeed produced a video showing just how many staff were involved in the care of just one patient and we, like you, appreciate every one of them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEqVsPrHVzE We really appreciate the comments we receive from patients and their families as it makes the effort all the more worthwhile even when the person may go unnoticed and just being a part of a patients life story comes with its own special reward, especially when they reach the ripe old age of 103. Thank you for sharing. Regards Patient Experience Team

Every member of the team was helpful, attentive and professional. I have been in private hospitals and nothing matches the quality of the care I received today. Thank you.

The Midwife and student that I saw today for reduced movements were amazing. I cannot recommend enough, they made me feel so relaxed and at ease. Left the maternity hub feeling very happy and looked after.

  7. Review titled Awful waiting time, worst than before

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 April 2023

Ambulance has taken me to the A&E as I had awful pain. I had to wait for painkiller when we arrived I almost passed out. After half an hour I was given morphein and blood has been taken. Then nothing happened. I must say the paramedics were amazing, they were so caring and nice. But then they moved me to a waiting room full off patiens and visitors, i think visitors should not be allowed as the room was so packed. Then until 8 am nothing happened, apart from a carer checking your temperature, noone coming to check on patiens asking if we would need anything. Elderly people were sitting around too I thought the care was absolutely shocking. After a 9 hours of wait I decided to ask when I am going to see a doctor, I was told I have not been waiting that long wow. And probably another 2 hours, and I have not even had a scan nothing done. Not to mention that I have missed my work too, it was absolutely a waste of time sitting there on a plastic chair..Not even a bed was given. I did not found the nurses too caring..they were just sitting around chatting, gossiping or checking their phone. So I have decided to go home. I think I prefer to die at home than going into the hospital again. Pointless to say that I still do not know what is wrong with me, as no scan was taken and I am scared to eat now as paramedics suggested I might have a problem with my gallbladder.

  8. Review titled Shocking treatment

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Mandy - Posted on 24 January 2024

Failed my late ex husband shockingly since his diagnosis of oesophageal cancer in oct 21 to his death in the hospital in April 23 Promised him treatment that never happened, begged for what little he got! Discharged him 4 times in the last month of his life dying and barely able to breath to an empty flat with no aftercare package ever put in place. I kept taking him back to A&E in such a bad state, and within days they had him waiting for hours in their departure lounge for his meds. Lots of other poor souls waiting in there to be collected by a taxi and sent home alone. I will never get over the way he was treated it will haunt me forever

  10. Review titled Good experience of Gastroscopy department

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by #48 - Posted on 02 March 2023

I was admitted to Bournemouth Hospital for a Gastroscopy and biopsies yesterday and despite being concerned about having this done without sedation every nurse who dealt with me continuously reassured me throughout the procedure which benefited me tremendously. The nurse who looked after me post procedure not only supplied me with a cup of tea and biscuits she explained in great detail the report in terms I could understand and gave me a leaflet concerning Gastroscopy Oesophageal Reflux Disease. All in all made a daunting experience quite comfortable. Thanks to all the team
