Review titled Put me at ease every time
by The Gingerone - Posted on 27 July 2023
Have been having eye injections for past 8 months, quite scary for me but from the first time I had it done to my appointment today the two nurses who performed the procedure have made it painless and totally put me at ease every time. I always come away wondering why I was nervous in the first place. Lovely ladies, both stars! Thank you

Dear The Gingerone, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback for the Eye Unit. I am so pleased that you have found your experiences within the Eye Unit to be positive ones. You were right to be nervous in the first place as it is very daunting thought however it is lovely to hear that the staff really put you at ease and you no longer feel this way. I will pass your kind words back to the team, Kerry Trembath Senior Staff Nurse Ophthalmology

Review titled Amazing staff and care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jade - Posted on 11 July 2023
We visited on the 11/7 in the early hours of the morning with my little boy whilst on holiday to Cornwall and the staff were exceptional. We were in and out in 90 minutes with all of the essential treatment. We were given a good description of my child’s illness and aftercare. The staff also gave my little boy a card from the staff for his birthday and a small token to take away. It’s the little things that make you smile when you are worried as a parent for your child that can brighten the your day. Exceptional staff and service. Thankyou to everybody that was working the night shift this day.

I had my wisdom tooth removed today. The dental surgeon and nurses were very calming and reassuring. They made me feel at ease, with a painless and smooth appointment.

Review titled Keep rowdy patients calm and quieter
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 18 July 2023
Wanted a side room non available when taken to the heart department as an emergency. The ward was extremely noisy with older ladies chatting away obviously soon to be released. Why couldn’t the young nurses have enough common sense to have a quiet word with the ‘shouters’ to please keep it down especially with very ill patients being brought in?

Review titled Couldn't have had any better care
by cheetahmz47 - Posted on 25 August 2023
My overall experience from the time I walked in was amazing, staff were very attentive at all times. As I am a diabetic they kept a check on me regularly. Couldn't have had any better care. Nothing could have been better.

Hello Cheetahmz47, Thank you so much for taking the time to write about your experience in our Oral Surgery Department. It was so lovely to read that you have had a really good experience. I imagine that your diabetes can add an extra element of concern to any attendance at a medical appointment so, to hear that you also felt well looked after in that respect, is great to read. I will pass these lovely comments on to the whole team and I know they will be wishing you a very speedy recovery. Very best wishes and thank you again for this super feedback. It means a lot to us. Vanessa Deputy Sister on behalf of department sister Lucie Baker and the whole team.

Review titled Ongoing urology care - thanks to a great team
by RobinG - Posted on 13 July 2023
In contrast to a dreadful experience I had last November in a certain ward in the Trelawny wing it is a pleasure in contrast to give feedback at the opposite end of the scale. I have had an ongoing urology problem for over a year now but the urology dept etc. have been great. On 2 recent visits one for a follow on op. and then 3 weeks or so later for a clinical follow up all the staff were absolutely great. The staff on arrival put me at ease and were so helpful. The anesthetist and the surgeon carefully explained everything and were so re-assuring. The prep. nurse and others were all so helpful and friendly as well as professional. The op went well despite it being more difficult than anticipated. A big thank you to ALL of that team. The recovery nurse was also really caring and re-assuring. The follow on at the clinic on fl 2 was also great. Friendly re-assuring welcome on arrival. The clinician who saw me was great, efficient, but friendly and re-assuring - all of which helped put my concerns at rest. She taught me well how to do the needed procedures I have to do at home and I have been able to do this without any problem. She gave the me supplies I needed for the next few days, ordered the follow on supplies right away (they arrived next day!) and got the follow-on appointment sorted out right there and then. Right from the start the urology dept. have been great. Not forgetting as well the lovely consultant's secretaries who patiently and cheerfully answered by phone calls. I get the distinct impression that here is a good team that works well together and all of them have their patients well-being at heart. That should be the case everywhere in the hospital but sadly my experience in Dec showed that is not the case when I was shoved out is a disgraceful manner when not yet fit to be discharged. But that was NOT the urology dept responsible for that I might add. They are top notch and it is a delight to be able to leave a positive feedback for them. A great team and thank you to everyone. Another appointment soon and I know |I will get the same great care.

Review titled Dermatology Dept Treatment
by skykj56 - Posted on 12 July 2023
I had a Basal Cell Carcinoma removed recently. The appointment time was perfect because there was no traffic; usually getting to and from the hospital is very difficult because the roads are so busy. I was seen bang on time and the team were very friendly and caring, putting me totally at ease. Everything was clearly explained and the procedure done quickly and efficiently. I was given all the aftercare information I needed.

Hello skykj56 I am so glad that everything went well and we managed to make you feel at ease. The traffic is always a concern for patients and we do try to give a little extra time for patients if we can. Procedures are very short time slots so it can be difficult sometimes. We hope you are recovering well and thank you for getting in touch and leaving feedback. We can only make changes if we know how the service is affecting the patients.

Review titled Very happy with the service
by phoenixqr87 - Posted on 18 August 2023
Arrived early for appointment @ 2pm Called in early to be seen. Both were friendly, asked a few question and gave me a quick eye test. Then they quickly set to work to remove the piece of metal from my eye which was removed on the first attempt. Very happy with the service and nurses involved.

Review titled They have been there for me all the way
by decemberjx45 - Posted on 20 July 2023
I was admitted as an emergency with agonising stomach pains to RCH Treliske. A large cyst on my ovaries was found and I was moved to Eden Ward. The ovaries and tubes were removed the following day. The care was absolutely wonderful from all concerned, consultants, doctors, nurses and ancillaries. I was of course very concerned and each and every person I came into contact with was kind and caring, and all my questions addressed. All staff were clearly working under extreme pressure, but they all took time to ensure care. Having been discharged, a while later unfortunately I was contacted re the test results, which showed cancer. A few days later I had an appointment in gyno/oncology at RCH. The consultant was kind and fully explained and answered all my questions in a manner I could understand, and I was then fully briefed by the liaison nurse. Of course I was frightened, but, the the care shown, the time spent and the clarity of the options/procedures made me feel both reassured and 'taken care of'. Obviously still a long way to go with surgery/scans and chemo, but RCH has been there for me all the way, and I have faith that they be with what's to come.

Dear decemberjx45 Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to you and thank you for taking the time to leave such positive feedback, especially when you are processing such frightening news. I am very sorry to read that your tests showed cancer and I sincerely hope that you continue to receive all the support and care that you need. It is very reassuring to hear that you were treated so kindly, that the care you received following your emergency admission was so good and that the follow up care from the Gynaecology Oncology team left you feeling reassured and cared for. Our teams work hard to try and minimise any worry or anxiety for their patients, and to make them feel as comfortable and informed as possible, and they very much appreciate all feedback. I will ensure that your kind words are shared with the team that cared for you on admission and with those that followed you up in the Gynaecology Oncology appointment. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience and I wish you all the very best for your on-going treatment.
