  1. Review titled Anyone needing the same procedure need not worry

    by Loulou36 - Posted on 23 January 2023

I wanted to pop my opinion here for anyone worried or having the same procedure. My appointment for the procedure came quickly after they determined what needed to be done, which was unexpected but welcomed. The procedure was quick and mainly pain free. The nurses at that particular department are incredible, and made me feel so comfortable and well looked after, I was told from start to finish what was happening, and there is a nurse by your side at all times during, just to talk to. Also every appointment to the run up to the procedure I saw the same nurses and each time I left feeling unjudged and really cared for. They are an absolute credit to treliske and I can't thank them enough. Anyone needing the same procedure need not worry, you are in the very best of hands :)

Dear Loulou36 Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such positive feedback about our staff. I am very glad to hear that your appointment came quickly and that the procedure was quick and mainly pain free. I am also delighted to hear that the team made you feel comfortable, unjudged and well looked after. Our teams work hard to try and minimise any worry or anxiety for their patients, and to make them feel as comfortable and informed as possible during such an invasive procedure, and they very much appreciate all feedback. I will ensure that your kind words are shared with the team. Thank you again, and I hope that you are well following this procedure.

  2. Review titled My husband had an accident with his eye.

    by EyeEye52 - Posted on 11 January 2023

It’s so easy to complain about the NHS, and there are definitely issues and delays. However, our experience this morning has been amazing. Eye injury, phone 111 and within less than 1.5 hours, we had a triage, and two call backs and an asked to to go Bodmin minor injuries. Seen almost straight away. Discussion with Eye department at Trelisk who called back within half an hour. Recommended medications for administering now and an appointment made for Monday. He went for the appointment today to the eye clinic at Treliske. He was seen almost immediately by triage and then seen by an eye doctor within a few minutes. He was greatly reassured that no permanent damage had been done. It was explained to him how to look after it and reassured that if anything changes, he could come back to the clinic at any time. Such care and empathy. Treatment couldn’t have been better. Thank you Treliske eye clinic.

Dear EyeEye52, Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback for the Eye Unit. I am so pleased to hear that you were promptly called back by the Eye Unit once the referral was received, and given advice regarding medication and an a appointment. It is great to hear that you were not kept hanging around waiting once you arrived in the Eye Unit, by the triage nurse or the eye emergency doctor, and that reassurance was given that no permanent damage was done and an SOS appointment if required. I am glad that you feel he was treated with great care and empathy, and that treatment couldn't have been better. I was pass this wonderful feedback back to the team. Once again, many thanks for kind and positive words Kerry Trembath, Senior Staff Nurse Ophthalmology RCH

  3. Review titled Great Receptionist

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Janet Wood - Posted on 31 January 2023

Yesterday I went into the Oral & Maxillofacial Dept to try and sort out an ongoing Appointment problem. I am P.Deaf and although my Dentist has highlighted this fact when making a Referral I have continually been offered telephone consultations from this department. As I had an appointment at another department I thought I would go to this department and have a face to face conversation with the Receptionist as I can lip read. I explained my problem to Receptionist who went out of her way to help me, she made phone calls on my behalf and printed out information that applied, also giving me an email address if I needed more help. Deafness is an overlooked disability in many departments but this Receptionist went beyond to help me so a big Thank You for her kindness, patience and understanding.

  5. Review titled Labour, birth and post-natal care

    by ophiuchusjn64 - Posted on 05 January 2023

Labour and birth at the Delivery Suite were fab. Staff were attentive, caring, informed and informative. They couldn't do enough for you. However, moving to Wheal Fortune has been awful. It's loud and chaotic - not conducive to recovery and preparing to go home. The bays are small, ours came ill-equipped with only a bedside table - no cot for baby, no chair for partner. If you press the call bell, someone may arrive, and if they do they may or may not return with what you need. It took two hours from arriving on the ward for someone to check on us. It has not been a pleasant experience.

Dear ophiuchusjn64 Congratulations on the birth of your baby and thank you for taking the time to share with us your experience of the maternity department. I am really pleased to hear of your positive care on Delivery Suite. I am the matron for Wheal Fortune, the postnatal and Transitional Care Ward, and am really saddened to read about your experience there. Whilst we are aware that the environment as a modular building can be difficult to maintain a peaceful space to aid recovery and also be a space where you get to know your baby, the other aspects of you experience must be resolved. Our goal is to support families in their transition from birth to going home feeling confident with caring for their baby and also having experienced timely, compassionate care which we have not achieved for you and your family and I am very sorry for this. I will use your valuable feedback to share with the team so that your voice can he heard and improvements can be made for all other families staying on the ward. If you would to talk to me any further about your experience, please feel free to email me at sarah.harvey-hurst@nhs.net. With Kind Regards Sarah Harvey-Hurst Maternity Matron

Fantastic experience in the Ophthalmology Department at The Royal Cornwall Hospital in Treliske. Really reassuring, efficient, friendly ophthalmology nurse and then brilliantly successful 1 min laser treatment with the consultant. Cataract eye transformed - in and out in 25 minutes. Heartening.

  7. Review titled Professional, empathetic and efficient service.

by Happy green eyes - Posted on 23 January 2023

Attended St Austell MIU for an injury to my eye Received excellent diagnosis and primary care. A follow up appointment was arranged at the main hospital eye unit at Truro, where I received excellent care from Louisa and the team. I was in and out in 15 minutes. The object painlessly removed from my eye. Professional, empathetic and efficient service.

  8. Review titled Walking through a corridor in my gown

    by avocetbg49 - Posted on 16 January 2023

I got changed in one room and had to walk in my gown across a corridor where others were using it as a walk through and workmen also there. I felt embarrassed as this is a woman's clinic. Other than that the staff were lovely and caring

Thank you avocetbq49 for taking the time for this response. I am really sorry that you were put in this embarrassing situation and completely understand your comments. We are currently changing the layout here in gynaecology outpatients so the recovery room will be accessed via a adjoining door so patients will not have to cross a corridor. Also the corridor will be closed off, meaning only staff required in clinics will be able to access the corridor to prevent a thoroughfare. Although in this instance the builders are required within the corridor. Again we are really sorry you had this poor experience. We are working towards a better solution for our patients. Kind Regards Sarah

  9. Review titled Appalling

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 January 2023

The duty of care particularly in the Phoenix Ward was disgusting, very ignorant and unhelpful staff not just to myself but to most of the ward. Staffs manual handling was extremely heavy handed! Majority of the time call bells were being ignored throughout the ward, while staff laughed and joked among themselves.

Dear Anonymous, Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us. I was both saddened and disappointed to learn of your experience on Phoenix ward here at the Trust. This is certainly not the standard of care we want any of our patients to receive. If you have not done so already, and if you would like to, please contact our Patient and Family Experience Team (Complaints) to raise your concerns formally using the details below. I have already shared your feedback with them, so you can simply quote your Care Opinion story if you wish to contact them. Tel: 01872 252793 Email: rcht.patientexperience@nhs.net In the meantime, I will ensure that your feedback is forwarded onto the Phoenix ward team so they can reflect on your experiences and make improvements to the service they provide where possible. Thank you again for taking the time to get in touch, I am sorry that on this occasion, the care provided was not up to the standards we strive for. Best wishes, Jess

  10. Review titled Outpatient appointment in obstetrics and gynaecology

by Laumac - Posted on 24 January 2023

I had a procedure in January to have my copper coil removed due to some complications. I was very nervous prior to arrival, however the health care assistant that greeted me straight away put me at ease. She thoroughly explained the procedure, she spoke to me like I was a person and not just another case. She made me feel really at ease. During the procedure all staff were really professional, reassuring and explained every step to reassure me. I can’t fault the service, and the procedure. If you’re feeling nervous about any upcoming procedures at RCHT obstetrics and gynaecology department I hope this will reassure you, as the experience was positive throughout.
