  1. Review titled Exemplary service in difficult times

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Stuart Ben Hawksworth - Posted on 13 February 2023

Having been admitted on February 3rd through A&E I was admitted to McGill and later Clarke ward. The way I was treated from the point of being picked up by the ambulance from home to my discharge was first class. I was impressed by the fact that the staff were consistently pleasant and helpful whilst being faultlessly efficient. This despite the fact that staffing levels were stretched. The general atmosphere in the hospital was supportive and caring with an underlying sense of professional competence.

  2. Review titled Brilliant support from the virtual ward

    by monoceroszz93 - Posted on 09 March 2023

I was struggling to breathe and called 111 who advised me to head to the A & E in Winchester. Within 10 minutes I had seen a triage nurse and was then moved into the emergency area - put on oxygen- bloods taken and an ecg read out taken. I was then taken for a chest xray and also given a nebuliser. I was then taken to another area to wait for a bed- even though all areas were extremely busy I was treated with courtesy and well informed. Approx 20 hours after arriving I was moved onto Shawford Ward - again all the staff were lovely and answered any questions I had. The next day I was allowed to go home with medications and a promise if support from the Virtual Ward and also that tests would be booked for further investgations at the hospital. What started as a really scary experience for me was reduced by the way all the staff dealt with me -they were all so lovely and it meant that i felt confident to come home as soon as I was allowed with the promise of calls from the virtual ward nurses. They called as promised and I was happy to be signed off after a few catch up calls. Again I was really happy with the support and had a number to call if needed. I have received a letter from the hospital confirming dates for the tests. I don't think anyone likes being or going into hospital but my experience throughout was brilliant and I don't have any negative feedback - the virtual ward as support when I came home was spot on - there if needed but not intrusive. Just want to say a big thank you

  3. Review titled So much compassion

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Amy - Posted on 06 January 2023

I felt compelled to leave a review for an experience that restored my faith in the NHS. Yes, it was clearly busy and there were emergencies happening but everyone from the HCAs to the Consultants were incredibly understanding, empathetic, compassionate and helpful in the time that they were able to provide. I think it's really rare to have a team where everyone who is overworked is able to maintain that high level of professional compassion satisfaction when dealing with someone, that is not as critical as the emergency they have just dealt with. Any buzz for request was responded to with a smile and really prompt action, from an extra blanket to toast. I actually felt spoilt! All the conversations really made me feel supported and ultimately massively helped me feel much better. Having felt really down about this current illness it was really nice to have been cared for by people that did not make me feel like I was a burden in the slightest. What an amazing department.

  4. Review titled 10/10

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I recently had my big toe and foot operated on as a day patient at Winchester. I had never been to hospital for anything like this and was apprehensive to say least. Wow what an experience...not only did I have a successful operation but I was privileged to witness efficency, humanity and kindness, skill and compassion in equal measures. I left that day feeling that I must be special but no, all others on that day were treated the same. Thank you Winchester Orthopaedic dept and the MRI dept, you are a fantastic group of people. For what it is worth you have my whole hearted gratitude and respect.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The nurses and doctors in northbrook ward have been nothing amazing for my sons care. He was happy and comfortable with each and every single one of you and I couldn’t thank you anymore for the help and support you’ve given to us while he’s been unwell. Everything to the little chats throughout the day to make sure we’re both ok, to my sons care, to helping us in times of need, amazing. I’m so grateful to each and every single one of you. Thank you so much.

  6. Review titled Outstanding care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Was referred for a colposcopy after an abnormal cervical smear. Ended up having a lletz procedure which although scary, wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. This was purely down to the the outstanding care from the dedicated nurses and consultant, who put me at ease, held my hand and did an amazing job. Thankyou from the bottom of my heart.

  8. Review titled Poor care!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 02 December 2022

Bought my daughter who is 12 up to accident and emergency as she was in lots of pain abd somehow it looked as if sge had dislocated her collerbone as her shoulder was mishappen to the other! We arriced at 10.30pm and waited for quite some time then called to triage where it felt like we were an inconience!! We then eventually were called in to see the doctor who did not do a proper examination, and no xray which she should of had. The manner from the doctor was rude and unhelpful and we were made to feel like we were wasting his time! No care at all! Sent home with no real idea as to whats wrong, daughter still has a mishappen and bulge bony area on her collerbone and still in pain!!! Would not reccomend.

  10. Review titled Urgent Community Response

    by eagleny79 - Posted on 07 December 2022

Following a fall at home and a call to 999 for assistance it was recommended that I call 111 to speak to a doctor. I had a home visit from a GP who started immediate Community Response visits. I had been feeling generally unwell for almost 2 weeks and the support I was given was superb. Sadly within 24hrs it was deemed necessary to be admitted to hospital where I stayed for just over 3 weeks. However, the prompt response to my medical needs at home was exceptional and various aids were delivered to my home address at very short notice. The medical care I received helped me to remain at home initially and I was very grateful for this support. The nurses that did come in to see me at home were caring and supportive and this helped tremendously as I was naturally very frightened and vulnerable. Having to be admitted to hospital via A&E when an ambulance was sent for me I was then admitted to hospital for over 3 weeks to locate and treat various infections that were discovered.
