Review titled Terrible level of care
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Deborah B - Posted on 20 March 2024
My 87 year old parents had to visit A&E as my father could not pass any urine. They were admitted at 5pm and were left in the waiting room all night, only being discharged early the following morning. During that time, other people were admitted, seen and discharged. They were told on a few occasions that it seemed like the doctors had forgotten about them. Being elderly they do not like to cause a nuisance and so just accepted they had to wait. In the end a catheter was put in and they were discharged with no instructions about what to do next, only that a 'nurse' would be round to see them. They were given night bags, but no instructions on how to use them. Currently, one week later, they have heard nothing, have no idea what to do next. Their GP refuses to help saying it is down to the hospital to deal with them. Given the experience to date, my parents understandably do not wish to spent another 12 hours sitting in A&E to find out what to do! This is a ridiculous level of care and very symptomatic of how broken the NHS is! Unfortunately my parents do not live near to me and try to deal with emergencies on their own!

Review titled Cannot get through to anyone!
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 04 April 2024
I have been trying for the best part of 3 weeks to get through to the gynaecology department to cancel an appointment and have spent over 2-3 hours on hold trying to get through only for the line to hang up. I now understand why the nhs has so many appointment that end up with a no show as you cannot get through to anyone to let them know!

Review titled Great care, but no parking.
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by angela corbett - Posted on 15 February 2024
The doctor and nurses were brilliant, 10/10. But the parking is dreadful. The sign said 20 spaces but there were none. I drove round the site 3 times and the sign still said 20 spaces, but there were none. Also, the map of the site is upside down, ie, north is at the bottom of the plan!

Review titled Compassionate, caring and excellent care given
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was admitted onto the Gynaecology ward after a large bleed and required emergency surgery. I am a nurse myself and the care I experienced went above and beyond to provide for my needs. The nurses and HCAs were caring and took the time to really care about what I needed. The Registrar and SHO that cared for me were so empathetic and explained step by step what was going to happen a long the way. They put me at ease and showed great compassion. Thank you for doing your job so well.

Review titled calm, caring and professional care
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Pat and Jim - Posted on 22 February 2024
Although A&E Was busy late Sunday evening the Reception staff were courteous. After about an hour we were called by the Triage nurse. She was very cheerful and reassuring and redressed the wound. We were then directed to Emergency Care. Then examinations, x-ray and treatment were carried out in a calm efficient professional manner. We applaud the Staff. Working long shifts. The work that medical and NHS staff give to us, the public are to be applauded especially through Covid. thank you all.

Well looked after in an emergency situation that went missed by another Trust , it was great to have the Preston team find and resolve my Urology issue professionally. The team have to be the best in our area, which sadly may mean they may be the busiest but be assure the attention to details, patient communication and care is extemporary

Review titled Best care possible
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Yvonne Potter - Posted on 27 March 2024
At the beginning of February I fell and broke my hip, I was taken to Preston Royal Infirmary , from the moment I arrived I received the best care and attention possible. After being examined I was taken to Major Trauma ward. The nurses and doctors were exceptionally caring and my operation was explained in great detail. After the operation the care and physio were excellent. I spent 12 days there. Thank you for taking such good care of me. I’m a 79 yr old lady.

My partner was referred to the SAU at Royal Preston via Chorley Urgent Care follow an infection to an injury. I cannot speak highly enough of the team on the ward. Despite being extremely busy they attended to my partner with efficiency and more importantly care and kindness. The team work and organisation was clear to see. I hope the trust recognises what a brilliant team they have on the SAU and all the hard work they put in. Can’t thank them enough.
