  1. Review titled No parking spaces

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 13 March 2023

twice now I have been to this hospital and have not been able to see my daughter at the scan because there is never any parking spaces available. I have to drop my partner off and continue to go around in circles almost like it’s a game or musical chairs to try and get a parking space, both times I have had to leave work early to attend these appointments costing me money and I do not even get to see my daughter because the hospital is so poor with parking spaces. If you have an appointment I would give yourself a good hour to even try and get a parking space, they have just had built a ‘multi story’ car park, that’s a lie you aren’t allowed up the multi story because the second level is for staff so you can only use the limited spaces on the bottom level. The security guards must hate their job pressing the button to let people put constantly because of the cameras.

Good afternoon I am sorry to hear that you have experienced difficulties parking. Having spoken with our Estates and Facilities team the Trust created the additional level for staff parking on top of the existing public car parking. We do recognise the challenges of parking, we are unfortunately limited to the footprint of our site. The security team do work hard daily to sign post people to all available parking. Whilst I am unable to offer any current solutions to your feedback I will ask our Communication Team to review any public facing messages, to ensure the public are aware of the parking options. 2. Review titled Emergency Department

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 February 2023

After entering the department I was seen by triage and was told to wait to see a doctor as they believed I may have been having another stroke (first one was in May 2022,). I was seen by the doctor who referred me to the stroke doctor (I think he was called that) who saw me in the a&e department. He concluded that he wanted to admit me into the unit to be assessed by a consultant the next morning so asked me to wait in a&e for a bed to become available. Overall I was seen within 5 hours, in the department for a total of 8 I think it was. I stepped outside to get some air only to see 9 ambulances sitting outside with more patients waiting to get in so at that time I decided to discharge myself. I know it may have been a stupid thing to do and I hope it doesn't go against me but I was only waiting for a bed to be assessed the following morning by the stroke team and I thought it was silly to take up a bed just for that as I was feeling better than when I first walked in. I would however like to apologise to the stroke doctor who saw me in a&e and the stroke unit who were trying hard to find me a bed when none were available for discharging myself. The a&e department that night worked extremely hard through everything that was thrown at them. Some did look a bit frustrated but always tried to keep a smile on there face and help whenever they were called upon. I would like to say thank you for everything you did for me and sorry for the small arguments we had when I was trying to discharge myself, I knew you only had my welfare at heart. Just a tiny thought though, maybe put a vending machine in the department so people can have a little something to eat, being in the department for a total of nine hours isn't great when you are told you can eat something and there was nothing available.

Recently attended the Emergency department @ Scunthorpe. Soon seen by a nurse then a Doctor. Was confident with their treatment and effeciency. The department was busy and noisy. I was only at the unit for 3 and a half hours in all. It will be a positive thing for Scunthorpe when the new Emergency Department opens.

i just wanted to thank the staff on the gynaecology ward at Scunthorpe general, after receiving results that I had a abnormal smear test at the start of the year I have visited here three times for treatment/appointments and I can’t thank the hospital enough how quick they have acted on it all, I’ve felt looked after and safe from the colposcopy, to the biopsy to the actual loop treatment it’s all been such a quick experience which has felt so reassuring considering the results feeling so scary and been in the unknown of understanding fully what cin 3 means, the consultant and nurses on the ward couldn’t have made me feel more comfortable through it all, I felt safe and looked after and comforted by them all, a big thank you to the new starter on the ears today too who held my hand and kept me talking all the way! Thank you so much to you all for been so assertive with my care!

  6. Review titled Poor quality of communication and treatment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 February 2023

I was sent by my doctor with a letter who had rang and told them I was coming with breathing difficulties was booked in on arrival sat 2 hours before I was seen by triage who told me to take a seat in waiting room even though I was struggling to breath sat 3 more hours waiting to be told it could be a lot longer wait I was not given anything to help with my breathlessness so I left with no treatment and no explanation of why I went through my doctors and after 5hours still had not had any help definatley would never use this hospital again appallingly.

I attended the Endoscopy Department on 16th Feb for a colonoscopy. I would just like to say what a wonderful team of caring and reassuring staff. I was put at ease and everything was explained to me. A credit to the NHS. Thank you.

  8. Review titled Third world service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Mrs Stirling - Posted on 10 February 2023

My husband was sent by GP for emergency admittance. 73 years old with complex and urgent medical needs I drove him so he didnt skip to ambulance direct to AE. No we thought help the NHS. 10 hours later they had still not seen him. Left him sitting in a plastic chair no food just some juice. At 11pm I called a taxi and brought him home. He is so ill I am incandescent with rage. We didnt just turn up his doctor phoned alerted them to how serious it was and they still ignored. How could they my dogs have better care from my vet. He is now so weak I will phone his doctor tomorrow. This hospital is broken. No care no follow up of vulnerable patients. If you dont get through those golden doors no one cares.

  10. Review titled Good experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by David Bontoft - Posted on 03 February 2023

I attended for a procedure (cystoscopy). The staff were friendly ,courteous and very efficient. This was the first time I had had his procedure. Everyone made me feel comfortable. The staff at the examination were great, they put me at ease, explained everything about the procedure, the risks and what they would do during the examination. The whole thing went very smoothly, I could follow the complete examination on a screen. They explained what they were seeing and the condition of the body part. They were professional, reassuring and sensitive to my needs. Afterwards they fully explained their findings and the options for follow on care. I can’t compliment their professionalism and courtesy enough. Afterwards a nurse explained she would be seeing me in the future when it begins. Anyone going for this examination can be sure they are in goo hands.
