Review titled Exceptional Care and Treatment
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Neil - Posted on 01 June 2024
Attended A&E due to mobility issues in leg and arm (self diagnosed TIA/Stroke)..A&E staff proffesional and attentive, conducted relevant tests and included stroke team. Assessment by A&E consultant thorough and reassuring including follow up scans which I attended the following day. Within one week I had the results, another assessment by a 2nd consultant and given the diagnosis (back issues). I know this hospital has been criticised in the past but I cannot fault any of the staff who dealt with me.

I attended a&E with my 93 year old mother who has Alzheimer's. Every member of staff we met treated her with care and kindness. Everything was done very efficiently and when you hear so much in the news about problems in a&e it was nice to have such good efficient service. Thank you to everyone

Review titled Excellent service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Sheila Thomas - Posted on 26 March 2024
Everyone, from the parking staff, receptionist, X-ray, consultant, nursing staff and Applejacks cafe were friendly and efficient, taking time to explain and help. Exceptional service. There was no undue delay and everything ran smoothly. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and the signage was helpful. All of you should be very proud of your hospital.

Review titled A&E Monday 04/03/24 10.00pm - 5.00pm

Thank you to all the diligent A&E night duty staff who showed great care & respect to our 87 year old mother who suffers from vascular dementia after she fell & banged her head in the Care Home she resides in. We waited 6 hours for an ambulance followed by a further 7 hours for a CT scan. They gave her tea & biscuits and expressed empathy. & to the young Dr whose patience was endless. A long wait but nowhere near as long as the patients occupying beds along corridors & corridors truly heartbreaking.

Review titled Wonderful Care in A and E
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Elizabeth Goodridge - Posted on 13 March 2024
Accompanied friend after minor collapse to A and E. Seen fairly promptly with quick tests including brain scan. The junior doctor was wonderful, courteous and patient and very thorough. Moreover the discharge letter to the GP gave very specific details and contrasted markedly with the discharge note sent by an Oxfird A and E following a recent similar episode. We would like to record our gratitude for this junior doctor's care and skill.

Review titled Great service
Rated 4 stars out of 5

Considering the Nhs is in such a mess this department appeared well run. Triage was fairly quickly done. Yes, they are under pressure and it gets filled very quickly my experience was that the staff were working and treating patients with care and should be respected for their care. I did have to wait some time but that was because they were waiting for blood results and I was soon taken though to the department for the particular reason that I had attended and given treatment. Sad to see people still on trolleys but that isn't the staff's fault it is because there is not the room and facilities which they should have.

Review titled The best possible care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Akexandra - Posted on 18 February 2024
Upon my arrival I was triaged in a few minutes due I am sure to referral by the out of hours doctor. I was then taken directly to the bed in a small department which is part of the a&e. From this moment if I had to find a problem it could not be done. Every member of staff, including triage and night staff, informed me of everything before acting and answered my questions fully in easy to understand language. I had to have a change to my medication routine and a detailed set of treatment methods and it was all explained fully including when they had to be altered. All of my requirements were satisfied fully including during busy times. I was treated with total professionalism and received the very best personal care. I believe this would also have happened without my possibility of a serious condition. In summary I almost wish I didn't get better. Although I think I was an easy patient I was given the warmest of farewells when discharged. My heartfelt thanks go out all the staff. I hope I do not have to return (unlikely given my health issues) but if/when I do it will be with a very positive feeling.

Review titled Poor service
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by KJ1957 - Posted on 06 February 2024
Attended A/E in the very early hours of Sunday morning 4 February after falling down a flight of stairs. The paramedics were called to the house and took all my vitals etc, and they were very good and caring. Following my arrival at the hospital I was triaged and again can’t fault it they were very helpful and also caring. After that I was placed in the waiting room until seen by a doctor ( which after almost 5 hours didn’t happen) and following a couple of requests by myself about progress I was told they couldn’t tell me anything. By this time I was feeling very anxious with the lack of sleep and again told they didn’t know when I’d be seen. I asked reception could I go home and the blood results to go to my GP, the receptionist said the results would go to my GP so I called a taxi and went home. The state of the reception area was well below standard with a couple of paper coffee cups on the dirty floor and coffee and soft drink stains. When I arrived at the A/E department it wasn’t overly busy and when I left it was less busy so I’m at loss to why I wasn’t seen. This was my first experience at attending southport hospital and wouldn’t like another one. I would sincerely hope they would get better at seeing patients and at the very least keep the patient informed

Review titled Thank you so much.
Rated 5 stars out of 5

My doctor sent me to A&E on 25/01/2024 as I had high BP and tingling around my heart. First straight into Triage for an Ecg then moved onto another waiting room for a blood test followed by X-ray. Also had my BP monitored again think this was around 5 times now from triage. Had temperature taken, gave a water specimen and sat in the waiting room for a short time worrying about what is happening with my body. A doctor came and we went into a room. The doctor explained that my bloods, x-ray and urine all clear. The doctor explained everything had time for me and was very reassuring. I felt 100% better when they gave me the all clear. I gave all the team praise yesterday and expressed my gratitude. The hospital was bursting with poorly people but even so the staff worked calm and efficiently. Thank you very much for looking after me yesterday.
