Review titled Do not donate a kidney here.
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Tom - Posted on 30 November 2023
I've had allot of negative back and forth with the renal unit at throughout donating a kidney and in the after care. The process was mayhem, but the latest experience tops it off just with the level of rudeness from a transplant co-ordinator. On my annual check up, I raised concerns of having my kidney level drop only 18 months post surgery. Especially since the renal consultant had advised that my kidney would grow in size and "work harder" to compensate. After detailing this a relaying my concern to the transplant co-ordinator I was told "you do realise you only have one kidney"./ Nooooo, really. I didn't realise thats what you did.... come on have some respect for you donors!

Review titled Excellent professional service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Diane Buckle - Posted on 11 September 2023
I had a hysteroscopy today as an outpatient. The service was first class . The area clean and relaxing . The consultant and nurses couldn’t of been more professional and reassuring. I was anxious but they made the experience so reassuring. Thank you to the staff for listening to my concerns and history with patience and kindness . I found the procedure almost painless.

Review titled Poor follow up
by Laura - Posted on 01 April 2024
After seeing my consultant in August he advised further surgery would be done by October/ November 2023. 8 months later still no surgery date, no help from admissions or his secretary, constantly fobbed off. For the last 2 years I haven’t been able to plan any annual leave/holidays or anything to look forward to which has made a massive impact on my mental wellbeing. I keep getting messages asking if I’m willing to see someone else or travel to a different hospital, to which I responded yes and still zero help

Review titled The greatest customer / patiant experience at this hospital
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Sterling Burton - Posted on 10 July 2023
Following a recent admission to the St. James hospital I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who dealt with me from the porters, catering staff to the doctors but my biggest thanks and gratitude is for the nurses, these guys are the heroes of this hospital, they deal with all the fallout, anxieties in such a professional manner they build you up when you're at your lowest they need more appreciation for the hard work they do. For all your own beliefs and faiths may god bless you Sterling Burton

Review titled Didn’t listen
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Stewart Whitelaw - Posted on 23 June 2023
For the second time this department tried to get me to make an appointment. When I questioned the procedure because my consultant had said this was not what he asked for, all I got was ‘I’ll discharge you then’ and no willing to sort the situation.

Review titled Made what was a terrible time for me the easiest it could be
by echopf87 - Posted on 02 June 2023
During such a worrying and important stage of my life, ward J24 treated me with the most dignity and care when I really needed it most. I was in a conformable, clean side room where I spent two days, nurses were kind and caring, attended to everything I’d asked, and the doctor on the ward - same doctor both days - was amazing, she was so considerate and calming in everything she did and reassured me the whole time. I would like the thank ward J24, they made what was a terrible time for me the easiest it could be.

I have had an on-going bladder problem, but every time I try and contact the Urology department I get an answer phone. It infuriating. I have search for an email address for them to drop them information/ask questions but there isn't one! Please could the hospital look into the current access to this department from outside the hospital. Currently it is not fit for purpose.

Review titled Surgical Assessment Unit - inappropriate behaviour
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 19 April 2023
Early hours in the morning where they tell you to get rest and you can hear the staff gossiping about other staff members and other patients. It’s off-putting hearing staff making inappropriate comments about yourself as it made me not want to ask for help. They were really loud and I could not get any sleep.

Review titled I am so grateful for everything you did for me
by Beryl B - Posted on 05 April 2023
I attended J25 (Ophthalmology) St James Hospital in Leeds today for day surgery. I want to commended the medical and nursing staff who treated and looked after me. I was nervous about this appointment, being 82 years young (!), but felt so reassured by the teams professionalism, compassion, care and good humour! One doctor was so kind as to place a pillow under my legs as my back was hurting, this really helped me and was a distraction from the procedure l had done. I am so grateful for everything you did for me and feel you need recognition for it.
