I came in on the 16/08/2023 at (22:00) with a head injury that was split open and bleeding I said I felt dizzy and sick and in a lot of pain took 1 hour to been seen by the triage who gave me painkillers and told me that it is a 4.5 hour wait it is now the 17/08/2003 at (06:00) and still not been seen by a dr that is 8 hour’s feeling sick dizzy and in pain while sitting with a split head in the waiting room this is absolutely appalling and awful service as a head injury if not be treated properly can turn very serious

From the paramedic taking me into A&E I received excellent care and treatment. All the staff were friendly, considerate and caring. Everyone was friendly, cheerful and professional and answered any questions I had. This is the best hospital I have been in. Thank you to all concerned.

  3. Review titled Care fir my mum

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Karen - Posted on 03 September 2023

My mum was cared for first in A and E and then on Burdham ward for a week before she very sadly passed away . I have been wanting to write to sincerely thank all those involved in my mums care- she was treated with the utmost respect and professionalism and her every need both medically and emotional was very thoughtfully considered . This included nurses holding her hand and cuddling her when she was scared in the middle of night on many occasions . As a family going through this difficult time we were guided and supported by the most wonderful team of nurses who went over and beyond anything I could have expected to look after my mum and my family and I will never be able to thank them all enough . I would like to write to the hospital directly so that I can mention them all by name so can you advise the best email address to use so that I can say thank you to those incredibly kind people directly . Thank you so much . God bless yoU

  5. Review titled So reassuring

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Elaine H - Posted on 29 July 2023

I was taken to A and E for heart monitoring - the triage nurse who dealt with me was lovely, professional, friendly and reassuring. I cannot fault the treatment I received - although they were busy. I did not have to wait and was treated with care and compassion. Excellent example of what the NHS does well.

  8. Review titled Under staffed to a dangerous level

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 June 2023

5 hours waiting. Finally got to see the doctor. A very nice doctor. She took bloods. But the results were not back 3 hours later. No air con. Very hot waiting room full of stressed people with children. Finally I asked had my results come? No. There's a glitch. So I asked them to ring me if it came back as a clot as I had a mini stroke awhile back. I still don't know results. The fast rules went out the window.

  9. Review titled No human contact

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Patricia - Posted on 25 June 2023

I fell getting out of bed at 2am and hit my forehead on the corner of the radiator. I had a nasty gash which my husband said needed a stitch so we went to St Richards A&E where I had to fill in a lot of irrelevant questions on a screen. After nearly half an hour not a single person sitting waiting had had any interaction with an NHS staff member. I decided that rather than waiting forever, I would get my husband to try to tape my gash together at home. I think instead of paying people to sit behind a screen and relying on technology to do their work, the NHS needs to use their receptionist to interact with the people in the waiting room advising them what is happening and how long it is likely to be before they will be seen by a medic. Not impressed with St Richards use of technology while the receptionist is left to chat to colleagues instead of interacting with their patients. By the way most of the screens seemed to be out of order, but fortunately I was the only person who had to use one at that moment. Sad situation thinking that machines can replace human interaction.

  10. Review titled great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by maggie adams - Posted on 03 July 2023

I was admitted to your hospital as an emergency and want to express my thanks for the care and treatment I received. All the staff I met (including of course, the ambulance crew), were kind, courteous and totally professional and St Richard's and the NHS are very lucky to have them, as are the public. I've always been a huge fan of the NHS and you've surpassed all expectation. Thank you.
