  1. Review titled Great patient care on day

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 27 January 2023

Attended x-ray B department with with my baby nephew. The staff were amazing. Treated him witch such care an attention. They explained everything clearly to his mother. She was extremely nervous. On another note. Although the staff were all so lovely efficient and caring my experience of the hospital as a whole is not great. The carparking situation is a nightmare and causes so much stress which it not needed on to if the stress of having to attend hospital in the first place. The whole hospital looks like a building site. Lots of missing or stained ceiling tile with wires hanging down. I feel the poor staff should be commended for having to deal with these below standard conditions.

Hello, Thank you for sharing the feedback about your nephew’s recent visit to X ray. I am pleased to see that the care he received was positive and support was given to his mother. I will share this feedback with the team. I acknowledge your concerns about the car parking and general estate issues. The hospital having some major building works which has unfortunately impacted on all of this. I will, however, share your experiences with our Estates team as it is helpful for them to pick up any issues that can be addressed in the interim. Kind regards, Patient Experience Team.

  2. Review titled No confidence in A & E department

    by zebracz58 - Posted on 10 January 2023

Came to A&E with suspected Heart Attack, waited approximately 20mins for an ECG, had one earlier by a Paramedics. They took bloods, put in a cannula and I was told to wait for a doctor to call me. I sat back down in the waiting area and the tannoy kept saying the waiting time was around 1 hour 30mins. Four hours later checked my blood sugars (Insulin Dependent Diabetic) reading was low and dropping. My husband requested a glucose gel, but as I was throwing up they replied there would be no point and to leave it with them. This was at 18:22. At 18:55 they checked my sugars on one of their machines, did not clean finger before checking. The reading was not classed as low so I was sent back to waiting area. Asked when I would see a doctor and was told I had been transferred to a medical doctor so they work the wards as well as A&E so no time could be given. Feeling very nervous and generally ill, body beginning to shake due to my low sugar levels. I have no confidence in the department or the staff. Not sure what to do next or who to turn to.

  3. Review titled Excellent Care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had surgery to manage my third miscarriage on the maternity Unit- Jasmine ward. From start to finish the whole experience was excellent, the professionalism, care, knowledge and sensitivity of every single member of staff I came into contact with- even the porter! I cannot rate this place highly enough, I only wish I found it sooner having had previous negative experiences elsewhere. When I eventually have a baby I will choose Stepping Hill.

  4. Review titled Great care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My mum was taken to stepping hill a week ago even though she lives minutes from Tameside hospital. At first I wasn’t happy due to the distance we have to travel to visit. A week on and I am over the moon with the care she has been getting. From the minute she arrived she’s had first class care. No waiting in a&e. Straight to the stroke unit. She’s that happy in there she asked can she stay bless her. My mum is 93 years old and they don’t treat her like some senile old lady they treat her with care and compassion. Well done stepping hill

  5. Review titled Bad experience from start to finish.

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Sam - Posted on 27 December 2022

Firstly, i’d like to state I understand that this is not the fault of the nurses and doctors who work at the infant accident & emergency at Stepping Hill, but those solely responsible for the running of the health service. The care and service which was provided for my 11 month old daughter was poor. Triage Nurse which was in such a rush she sprayed oral ibuprofen in my daughters eye, then a doctor which gave several possible illnesses without any clarification or being able to answer any questions. My daughters symptoms worsened during our wait and it took having to go to the main desk twice to get any attention. 8 hours in accident & emergency to leave without a diagnosis and a prescription that listed several items which aren't obtainable due to national shortage. After being told I would not be able to collect the prescription from Stepping Hill, I asked if they knew of an open pharmacist (boxing day) which I was then told to google in. Ending up in Rusholme, I was told I would not be able to get Penicilin and the hospital would have been aware of this. As I had several other things on the prescription, I handed it in and then collected the other items thinking i’d be able to get in touch with accident & emergency. After ringing accident & emergency 7 times I was told I’d have to come back to Accident & emergency with my daughter to wait 5-7 hours to see a doctor for a prescription. Meanwhile my daughters health remains the same and I'm awaiting a prescription from 111. Over 24 hours has past. This experience has completely alienated me. I do not believe the service available can provide adequate care for anyone. Rooten from the top and I sympathise with the nurses and doctors who are being set up to fail.

  6. Review titled Excellent service overall

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Dooley - Posted on 01 December 2022

Recently attended the A&E department and from the moment we checked into reception to the moment my mother was discharged home, I cannot thank each and everyone of these professionals enough for the care and compassion they showed throughout our stay. Everyone was so cheerful and efficient despite being incredibly busy. We are so fortunate to have our wonderful Stockport NHS Foundation Trust

  7. Review titled 8 hour plus wait

    by normayn38 - Posted on 26 December 2022

I think it is absolutely sickening that my grandmother of 93 was considered a concern but that we were then made to wait 8 plus hours for the next set of triage. Stepping Hill should be ashamed of this waiting time.

  8. Review titled Let down by notification of results

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 January 2023

Referred on 2 week cancer referral. Seen within 2 weeks, excellent communication and lovely staff. Biopsy taken on 2 week testing. 4 weeks later still not received the results despite chasing twice. Little point in being referred so promptly if results are communicated. Not to mention the anxiety of waiting over 6 weeks for a possible cancer diagnosis

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My husband fell off a ladder from l9ft, ambulance arrived whilst still on the phone to 999,went straight into casualty seen very quickly kept in fit two days for observation for head trauma. Excellent service all staff helpful and friendly. Couldn't have asked for any better service, a wait for a bed but that was understandable as very busy.

  10. Review titled Poor treatment of patients.

by Rytro - Posted on 07 December 2022

I was sat waiting over an hour for a timed appointment: left alone in a room for 45 mins after being called into a room. This is not satisfactory in any job, especially the NHS.
