  1. Review titled Total Confusion

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Jill Gregory - Posted on 14 November 2022

Received a reminder text on Friday re an appointment today which I knew nothing about. Couldn't contact anyone until this morning to query it, too late for me to attend. It is an appointment that is apparently an important Haematology appointment and after several tries I got through to the the dept who did try to transfer me to the Dr's sec. with my concerns regarding a stroke I was admitted for in September which could affect whether Haematology wish to see me or not - so far, no luck. I would add that I am under the Stroke Doctor and his team and I am really happy with the care and treatment I am being given and the staff on the unit I attended initially and the ward I was transferred to were lovely and so kind.

Good afternoon, Thank you for sharing your feedback and I am sorry to see that the communication from the hospital has been confusing. I appreciate not being able to speak to someone can be frustrating too. If you would like to contact me on patient.experience@stockport.nhs.uk with some further details, I can look into what happened and support you to speak to someone regarding the appointment. Kind regards Aoife Isherwood Patient Experience Team

  2. Review titled Excellent rapid response

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Elaine Murray - Posted on 08 December 2022

My son & husband brought me to ED 15.11.22 around 7.30 to 8pm with a sudden serious neurology condition. Initially, the first help was via a security guard who brought a wheel chair and was very kind to my family. Secondly, in reception my son called for help and a member of the team rushed me into triage . From there on I was treated urgently and with great care. Your team started my treatment then I was taken by ambulance to Salford Royal. Thank you to the tremendous team who commenced my treatment immediately. You are incredible. Very best wishes and again a grateful and sincere thank you. I hope the team who looked after me will have an opportunity to read my review.

Good morning, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am so pleased to read that the care and treatment you received whilst in A&E was quick and effective. Attending A&E can be stressful to it is good to see that you received the support you needed. I have shared this feedback with the Lead Nurse and Matron for the department who will cascade to the team as I know they appreciate hearing lovely comments. I wish you well with your ongoing recovery. Kind regards, Aoife Isherwood. Patient Experience Facilitator.

  3. Review titled Experience as a relative/carer

by Blubert - Posted on 13 October 2022

I was accompanying my elderly father-in-law to an ophthalmology appointment relating to his ongoing Giant Cell Arteritis. He is notoriously poor as a historian, at remembering medical details and even answering basic yet sometimes important questions accurately. As such he is always extremely reassured when I accompany him to his many hospital appointments, even to the extent of rearranging them if I am not available. He always wants me to be with him even for the most minor of consultations. I think my 40 year nursing career, mostly critical care - much as a senior nurse/manager - gives him a great sense of reassurance. Prior to him being seen by the ophthalmologist he was given a sight test. I was asked to wait outside so I explained he would prefer me to be present. I was admitted but throughout the test there was a low, but very badly disguised, level of hostility to my presence. Having been a health care practitioner for so long myself, I can understand that it can sometimes be annoying to be challenged, even politely, and my request may have seemed unnecessary, but I do not think this warrants making me feel extremely uncomfortable. I was acting not to interfere or get in the way, but because it was what the patient wanted, and also to ensure that any questions relating to his long and complex history had the correct interpretation and response. Both of these motives were in the interest of enhancing his care, something everyone is surely behind. I understand this is relatively unimportant in the scheme of things, but the small things are really important and cost nothing in time or resources. I do wonder: had I been wearing a Critical Care Manager badge, would I have been made to feel the same way? I have to add this has been an isolated incident and generally the staff at SHH have been very accommodating to my father-in-law’s needs

  6. Review titled Outstanding care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My dad was admitted to the AMU unit on the 11th October. He had lost consciousness and placed on palliative care. I can’t thank the whole unit enough for their care and compassion. Every single member of staff through the day and night couldn’t have been more helpful and understanding. We spent 4 days and nights with my dad till he sadly passed away. What an amazing group of doctors and nurses you have working on that unit. Please accept our sincere thanks. We have visited to say Thank you and leave a gift but I just feel that they all deserve so much more praise. Angels every one of you

  7. Review titled Can't speak to anyone for information

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 October 2022

My elderly father was admitted via A&E but it's impossible to get any information regarding his situation. The only people who can give any information seem to be the nurses but they're, understandably, too busy to answer. The phone just rings out and then disconnects! What am I supposed to do? Have a 3 hour round trip to go to A&E in the hope that someone can help? What happened to Admissions who could answer general questions... i.e. Has he been admitted? and/or Will be be kept in overnight?

I was admitted to ward d1 recently after being on a.m.u ,I was looked after well by the staff, but at night I found it impossible to sleep as it was so cold.I asked for an extra blanket but was told there were no spares. There was also a lot of visitors stood around one of the beds all night ,talking and laughing and generally making sleep impossible.

Good afternoon, Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience with us regarding D1. I have informed the ward manager of your concerns and she said she would look into getting some blankets to the ward for anyone who needs it. 9. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Elaine - Posted on 14 October 2022

Ihave been to Jasmine suite 3 times in the last few weeks. I was referred by my GP on the 2 week cancer pathway. I had a scan, hysteroscopy, cervical test and then a polypectomy. The consultants and nurses were brilliant. They went to great lengths to make me feel completely at ease. They looked after my dignity at all times as these procedures were very intimate. Everything was clearly explained. The constantly asked me if I was ok. The were very professional as well as friendly and kind. I had a phonecall yesterday to ask me to go in that afternoon to discuss the results. As I have covid I couldn't go. A consultant phoned me in the afternoon to say the biopsy showed pre cancerous cells. The treatment offered was an MRI scan next week followed by a hysterectomy shortly after. I could not have been looked after any better. Amazing!

  10. Review titled Emergency appointment with chest pain

    by firexs84 - Posted on 20 October 2022

Unimportant as I got informed my blood results were done but I couldn't be informed yet as there is people ahead, which I understand due to the process you follow, but no one seems to take in people's circumstances such as starting work early or having to resolve family issues at home so realistically I would of been better off suffering with the pain and getting the stuff done that needed doing than coming to the A&E.
