Review titled Excellent patient care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by The department was endoscopy - Posted on 09 February 2024
From entering the unit full of fear and dread my husband dropped me of and the attention from all staff on the endoscopy ward explained the procedure step by step and this removed all my fears completely, I would easily recommend anyone with fears of undergoing the similar treatment in the future, don’t worry your in the hands of caring professional staff.

Review titled The appointment system could be significantly improved
by sagittadh93 - Posted on 15 January 2024
While the care I received was good, the system around appointments was awful. The appointment time seemed to function as an arrive at time and not to relate at all to the time at which you would actually be seen. On both appointment occasions, I waited over 2 hours from the time my appointment was actually scheduled, to the time when I actually saw a consultant. Long waiting times seem to be standard practice in this clinic. My time is money - when I don't work I don't get paid. Appreciate being able to access care - but surely the appointment system could be significantly improved.

Review titled Excellent Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5

My grandfather was admitted to ward b5, where he stayed for over 3 weeks. As a family, we cannot fault the care he received from all the staff. We got to know the Nurses and Healthcare assistants, (and even a couple of the patients!) and so the whole experience felt much more personal. They treated my grandad with the greatest care and respect. We even received a call when he'd been transferred home for palliative care, to make sure he'd arrived safely and was settled. I'm not allowed to name you all on here, but I hope this review reaches you, and you know just how grateful we all are to every single one of you!

Review titled Very good practice

I have just had a prostate cancer diagnosed and dealt with in a few weeks. A blood test taken on 4th December showed a raised PSA. On 13th I was checked by a registrar in urology and had an MRI scan on the 22nd. On 15th Jan I had a biopsy and on 25th met with the head consultant, who carefully explained the results and discussed the options. Doctors, nurses and MRI technicians were all courteous and patient. I could not have asked for better treatment. It was the NHS at its best, in spite of the endless and growing pressures and difficulties caused in recent year by ever-changing P.M.s, chancellors of the exchequer, so-called ministers of health and their stooges.

Review titled Little accountability, lack of basic care and humanity
Rated 1 star out of 5

Having to ask for pain relief five times is not acceptable Patient was NBM from 7am and thus requested to be given food and drink at 5 or 6am. This was not done. Unacceptable. I could go on….there is no humanity in this level of care. I found junior members of staff failing in these basic aspects.

Ward c4 My husband received excellent end of life care whilst on this ward. The staff were all kind, caring and loving to my husband and also the family. If we were not with him, a member of staff say with him at all times. I can't thank them enough.

Review titled Waiting
by bravojn43 - Posted on 15 December 2023
Waited over an hour for an appointment for my 90-year-old wheelchair bound mother. Went and asked 3 times, given a 5 minute promise each time which didn't materialise.

Review titled Waiting time and communication
by castored36 - Posted on 21 December 2023
Running at least 1 hour late despite having a 9 am appointment. No explanation as to why, and I found the nurse rude when I enquired about the delay. Seems to be a lot of nursing/HCA staff doing very little in the department other than chatting and leaning on walls. Can’t believe this department is understaffed. Seem so inefficient and wasteful to me.

Review titled Kind and helpful this time
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I am now in my 80s and having had an operation to remove a cancer a few years ago I now have regular screening to check everything is OK. Three appointments ago I was treated very roughly. As a result I chose not to attend my next appointment. The hospital called to find out why I missed it and I explained to them about my rough treatment. They said they would arrange an appointment with someone else for me. My last two appointments have been OK. In fact, the Urology Nurse Specialist I have just seen was very gentle, kind and I would like to say a very big thank you to her. I will definitely keep my next appointment.

Good morning, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent treatment with the Urology team. I am sorry to read that your initial appointment was uncomfortable with you being left feeling like you did not want to continue. I was pleased to hear that the department spoke to you about your concerns and resulted in you attending for the support you required. I will share your feedback with the Lead Nurses who will share with the wider team. They will appreciate hearing this feedback and will also reinforce the importance of gentle care. I wish you well with your ongoing treatment. Kind regards, Aoife Isherwood Patient Experience Team

Review titled Waiting time at A&E
by songthrushjb69 - Posted on 03 January 2024
We came with our toddler son recently. He had a really bad cough in the early morning, so we decided to go. When we registered, we were told to wait in the children's area, so we did. There were no other children waiting ahead of us, and we thought it wouldn't take that long. However, after waiting for nearly 2 hours, we asked at the reception about the approximate waiting time. It turns out it was a 7-hour waiting time! I mean, we do understand a lot of things, but why didn't anyone inform us about that initially? We would have tried other services. Also, the coffee machine was broken. I mean, in what times are we living? In my opinion, there is no excuse for bad service, especially in emergency services
