  3. Review titled I feel badly let down

    by Leah90 - Posted on 31 October 2023

I am in my 70s. My GP in a phone conversation told me to phone for an ambulance to take me to hospital to have my asthma checked. They had phoned the ward, who would be waiting for me. As there was a 7-hour delay for an ambulance, a friend brought me in. I am still in A&E. No-one has asked me about my breathing or tested it. When I enquired, I was told I'd have to wait for the medical ward. No-one can tell me how much longer I'll have to wait. I've found the communication abysmal. I feel badly let down, as though no-one cares. Most of the staff are pleasant.

  4. Review titled Unplanned visit to A&E

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Hazel - Posted on 12 October 2023

Having being advised by GP to visit A&E I was impressed with the handling of my condition as a walk in patient . I was told to follow the Urgent Care arrows which led me into the waiting room Yes there was a wait, but a busy unit with kind, considerate senior health worker and very kind considerable doctor. Both explained the treatment and possible outcomes - all good . Then with prescription in hand to pharmacy where tablets dispensed in 20 mins with full info given by pharmacist who gave time and explanation.

  6. Review titled Amazing midwives

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ella - Posted on 10 September 2024

I went at around 11pm on 5th September in labour. Had my baby at 6:25 the next morning. I just want to thank all the midwives/ student midwives that were on that shift overnight who were helping me. You were all so lovely and supportive and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without you guys. You are such a good team, you really made the experience a good one for me. This is my second baby at stepping hill, last time was also a great experience and you gave me a great experience second time round. I just want you all to know how good you are at your jobs. Kept me going even when I felt like I couldn’t do it anymore and I was getting too tired - my baby was delivered safely thanks to you. So thank you so much and keep doing what you are doing because you really are so amazing all of you!

  7. Review titled Its all about the people you see

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 September 2023

I'm Autistic. Frequently I experience lack of emathy and understanding from 'front of desk' personnel. You'd think the NHS would do better but they do not. At Stepping Hill A&E the person I saw at reception clearly thought I was a nuisance. Complete lack of recognition of the challenges Autistic people face. The Triage nurse was wonderful though. A really helpful and caring soul, that made a huge difference to how I was feeling. I'm glad I went. It just goes to prove that an organisation is only as good as its people. Perhaps the front of desk person was having a bad day. I just wish hospitals were better able to support neurodiverse people. They should exhibit best practice surely?

Good morning, Thank you for taking time to share your recent experience with us following the contact you had with the front of house in the Emergency Department. I was sorry to read that you felt that you did not receive the support you needed. This feedback will be shared with the team so they can use this to look at how this can be addressed in the department. I would also like to assure you that at Stockport NHS Trust it is now mandatory for all staff to compete the Oliver McGowan Training on Learning Disability and Autism where communication, empathy and understanding is covered. 9. Review titled Accompanying my daughter

by Samsam - Posted on 01 September 2023

We went to the x-ray department to get my little girl's wrist checked out. I was there over half hour to realise four people went in before that came after her. Turns out they forgot to put her paperwork through and it was on the desk in front of the member of staff that forgot to put her name on the list. My daughter was then called in, for her to be told she would have to go in on her own when she's 7 years old. I said no, I would like to come in with her as I don't feel comfortable with that, to be then treated like I shouldn't be in there. End of the day, she's 7 years old and think any mum or dad wouldn't let them in, after all she's under 16 and a minor. They also asked her the questions that she didn't know, I confirmed them to be looked at funny as if I did something wrong. I can't stress enough that in this day and age not wanting a mum or dad in the room rings alarm bells with me. I do think this is wrong and the staff should let parents in the room and shouldn't need to be told they can't come in and for them to ask a child mum can stay outside without asking me first is not at all professional, in my view - she's 7, not 16. I hope this is taken seriously and not just pushed aside. Thanks

  10. Review titled Wait time

    by Titch67 - Posted on 22 August 2023

We were told my son would be seen quickly we waited patiently for over 2 hrs after it said wait time was 1hr 15m, waited 4hrs. Each time we asked at the desk we were told we were next then lots of other people went before us. Maybe just be honest.
