  2. Review titled Discharge process

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by David Sanderson - Posted on 18 June 2023

I would give Stepping Hill 10 stars but will have to reduce them to 9 stars There is no joined up thinking with the discharge process. My wife's doctor discharged her from e3 at 10.00am, her discharge letter was completed fairly quickly, and them we waited for her drugs. It's now 16.30pm and we're still waiting. Yes, my wife is on a lot of medication, which we have at home. She only needs what extra has been prescribed. I queried this with the Ward Sister and after phoning Pharmacy she was told they're doing the whole blister pack plus the extras! And no they can't just send up the extras. What a waste of money when we have 8 blister packs at home. Macclesfield hospital has a designated discharge ward, were all this could be discussed and sorted. Why cant Stepping Hill follow suit?

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 26 June 2023

I have been to hospital today from 9:00 am to 19:00 in chronic pain. After a few hours the consultant came in and she said you have a little pain here(tennis elbow, fibromyalgia and many other problems…...) and there and that is nothing .You do not have nothing. But first she asked where I am from???? Very unprofessional and clearly she didn’t care about me being in pain .

  4. Review titled Shocking Matrrnity services

Rated 1 star out of 5

Spend 4 and half hours today between antenatal and scan department today! Completely disgraceful. Appointment was only to check if needed growth as this was previously messed up by the scan department. Ended up having a growth scan and back to consultant.(no problem but 4 and half hours is disgraceful to leave pregnant women waiting this long). Notes not read properly get sent to scan department with a referral stating 36 weeks when am 30 weeks. Hopefully next scan appointments will arrive in the post although not holding any hope.

  5. Review titled Excellent hospital

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Kelly k - Posted on 02 June 2023

I have been referred to gynae at stepping hill. I was referred for general for a procedure which happened today and was on ward d4. The whole team there were amazing! I’m an extremely nervous patient and the lengths they went to for me to ensure I was comfortable were amazing. The nurses, healthcare assistants, everyone who I came into contact with. The anaesthetist was exceptional l, he was so understanding and put my mind at ease fully. I felt in very safe hands and he couldn’t have done any more. What a lovely lovely bunch of staff who are a credit to stepping hill and the nhs!

  6. Review titled I was certain I couldn't do this as an outpatient

    by firexz38 - Posted on 30 May 2023

I was referred to the jasmine suite for a hysteroscopy at Stepping Hill on the 2 week wait pathway, I was already very anxious and so decided to read up on the procedure, the stories I read petrified me and by the time the day arrived I was certain I couldn’t do this as an outpatient. I arrived for the appointment and we discussed why I was there and what the procedure would entail, I was reassured totally that I had options, I could have gas and air or choose the GA if I would prefer, the reassurance I was given and the understanding I was given helped put my mind at rest and I agreed I would give it a go as I was there now and I felt assured she would stop if it was too painful. I was taken into the room and we got started, for me the experience was gentle, pain free and very straight forward, I was chatted to throughout and could see what was happening on the tv screen, when the first biopsy was taken I was worried about the pain but only felt a minor clicking sensation, they were concerned they didn’t have enough cells in there for the best result and I told them to go ahead and repeat it as for me there had been no discomfort, I didn’t even consider needing to use the gas and air, I was given all the information they could give me and then told I could get dressed, they constantly asked how I was feeling and whether I was ok at each point of the procedure and I can’t fault the care and dignity I was given

  7. Review titled Something must be done about the parking

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 May 2023

It’s not good enough now to say for years that the hospital is looking into the parking situation. I have missed vital neonatal appointments despite giving up to an hours extra time because there simply is no parking. People resort to parking illegally everywhere as they have no choice. How can the hospital not see this as an urgent issue? It doesn’t matter how good the care is if you can’t get to your appointment

Good afternoon, Please see below response form the Facilities Department: The Trust does have a long-standing issue with car parking capacity and we have recently approved and commenced the implementation of a new car parking strategy which will, hopefully, help improve matters. The strategy covers multiple facets of car parking, ranging from the day-to-day management of our car parks, through to our sustainability and net zero ambitions. However, the primary objective of the strategy is to improve access to our car parking facilities whilst ensuring a fair and equitable provision is made available to all our service users. You will be aware that the majority of hospitals are experiencing increased pressures as a result of significant levels of clinical activity and, unfortunately, this increase in activity places yet further demands on already stretched car parking capacity. Furthermore, in respect of the Stepping Hill Hospital site, these underlying issues are somewhat compounded as, in response to long term increases in clinical demand, the Trust is also delivering a number of building developments aimed at improving clinical outcomes through the creation of improved clinical environments. Therefore, we have a number of construction site compounds dotted around the Stepping Hill site at present which may also cause some parking issues. We apologies for the inconvenience that the current situation brings and appreciate the frustration. kind regards,

  9. Review titled Amazing service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kerry Bentley - Posted on 18 May 2023

I had a gastroscopy and had been worried sick about it, I needn’t have been. Opted for the sedation, the throat spray was absolutely fine, the team who cared for me were brilliant, the whole procedure was painless, a little bit uncomfortable but over very quickly. If I need another, I know that I need not worry again. Thanks to the endoscopy team.

  10. Review titled Care and attention

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anne Cranny - Posted on 26 May 2023

I had to attend a follow up in outpatients A suite 1 for a fracture follow up and upon entering I was greeted by a bright smiling welcoming nurse who made me completely at ease. She was incredibly pleasant. I was then seen by the consultant and was greeted with a very courteous handshake and politely asked a few questions. He then asked me to undergo further X-rays. Admittedly the X-ray department was extremely busy and the wait was rather long. I was then asked to return to suite 1 and again welcomed by by the same lovely nurse. Another wait and then seen again by the consultant who explained the outcome of my injury and fully informed of expected recovery time etc. He then explained I would be seen by the physiotherapist. I saw him within a few minutes and was given a thorough evaluation of the injury and he examined me and talked through recovery plan, exercises and physio treatment which would commence in 2 weeks. His manner and explanations were extremely professional and helpful. I then left the department after receiving a great big hug from the original nurse who first greeted me. Although I was in the hospital for a considerable time, I felt I received first class treatment, full care and attention throughout. Thank you all so much.
