Review titled Terrible experience
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 29 December 2023
My surgery went reasonably well as far as I am aware, however the after care was appalling , I was physically shaken awaken & dragged by my arm to the toilet 5 times just in order to pass urine, this is so they can discharge you asap. I had a problem passing water & had to have a catheter, however the nurses were belligerent & nasty , they really hate it when they can’t discharge you , I was treated like an animal in the day ward . One particular nurse said I was dehydrated which was not the case , the opposite was true & I had to have a catheter to drain the urine. I don’t think nurses should be manhandling patients & forcing them to the toilet after a serious operation, just give people a chance to recover!!!

Review titled Superb Staff & Hospital
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I arrived at Casuality at the Whittington on 20/5/23 in huge pain & distress by ambulance. Every member of staff that looked after me was outstanding. I felt thoroughly taken care of and went from professional to professional smoothly and quickly. Every staff member ( over 30) doctors, nurses, consultants, cleaners, porters & caterers were all friendly , calm and caring. This hospital has a wonderful friendly & efficient atmosphere. This is the best hospital experience I have ever had , in the worst circumstances ever.

Review titled Great hospital, great staff.

by Mrs Helen Stevens - Posted on 16 November 2023
Was admitted to Whittington hospital May 31st with edema and pressure sores, caught pneumonia on ward was moved to nightingale ward where l was well looked after by all the team they were very thorough in their treatment and made me well. Unfortunately l accidently fell and broke my hip while recovering, was taken to theatre, nurses and ot staff were super despite me feeling down, they were so positive and kind, then l got covid, once again l was well looked after and recovered well. Health wise l was OK so was sent to St Pancras rehab to help with my mobility, was there 3 weeks progressing well when my oxygen levels dropped to 75. Sent back to Whittington nightingale ward for 4 weeks.. lve been home now for a week spending my 70th birthday in hospital which everyone made a fuss it was so special. I will always be grateful to the Whittington hospital staff from the bottom to the top who made me well, what a team all working together, thank you all from my heart, will never forget you all!!!!!

Review titled Bad practice
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I’m writing this review on the pregnancy triage services at Whittington. I sadly miscarried and visited the triage, the reception team seem quite unapproachable and sit there talking loudly laughing, even when certain staff come over and leave you can hear them gossiping. What I found really hard is you have to tell them why your there and the reception in in the waiting arrear where’s there’s other patients sitting in single chairs facing the entrance that can hear everyone’s problems and why there there. I found it a horrible experience soon I got told I lost my baby I was clearly upset and was ushered back to the waiting room. During my second scan I had two ladies scanning me and talking in their native language and laughing which made me feel very uncomfortable. The only positive was the main consultant was lovely and apologetic and was quite comforting.

Review titled Horrendous experience
Rated 1 star out of 5
by eva palacios - Posted on 03 April 2023
After five months of pain due to gallstones deprivation of sleep, and vomiting in the last 4 months prior to the appointment, I came to the hospital to see a specialist; the doctor did not acknowledge any of my symptoms and impact of them . The doctor wanted to send me to do a totally different test which they have already done a year before, rather than dealing with what I actually have pain from gallstone . Now I have been waiting for a month for another appointment with a doctor, and I have not heard from them yet, leaving me in pain for 6 months now without tackling the issue. If Gallstones are not treated, they can develop into cancer or pancreatitis. They totally ignore what I have and left me with severe pain to go home till I don't know when

Review titled Excellent Care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Lorraine Morgan - Posted on 31 March 2023
A close relative was admitted to intensive care unit after a seizure. The care received was exceptional. Communication was good and we were very reassured that everything possible was being done. A very distressing experience which was made easier by the compassion and care given.

Review titled Sad and scary
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Sof - Posted on 20 February 2023
I had a horrible experience at the A and E department. I spent hours and hours waiting to see a doctor which I didn’t feel like complaining about. I understand the waiting list was long. Then, I was given a diagnosis and I was told I would be admitted in hospital. I spent more than 8 hours waiting in an uncomfortable chair surrounded by very ill patients for this to happen. When I came in, I was feeling fine and strong. I ended up feeling sick, scared and extremely stressed. Nobody deserves this and should have to go through this experience.

Review titled reception person
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 24 February 2023
I went to opthalmology yesterday and there was a glaring example of bad practice. The receptionist was offhand and disinterested, and was actually quite rude to an elderly man in front of me. They paid no attention to me later when I asked for a mask (as recommended). There was also a long wait, and the room that they needed for my treatment was out of action.

Review titled Quick, kind and efficient
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 25 February 2023
On the advice of 111 I went to urgent care here - I had trodden in something sharp, and was worried - correctly - that my foot was infected. The receptionist sent me immediately to speak to a nurse, who took a short history, offered me pain relief, and referred me to the ‘pod’ where these injuries are treated. I was seen in 15 minutes, and my wound cleaned, my foot x rayed, and I was on my way home within an hour and a half with a cleaned, dressed foot, antibiotics in my bag, a tetanus shot in my arm, and much less worry on my mind. The surroundings there are shabby but the care is anything but. It was excellent - efficient, kind and friendly. Thank you very much.
