if you do not have a category for Wards then you cannot get reviews of elderly peoples care in the wards when they need help to feed, toilet, and wash. You must change this so you can see if things are going well and gather this information. Wards - my father arrived on ward 14. His body & legs are all twisted and it is clear he cannot walk easily. He was put in a bed furthest away from the toilet, even though his visit was for chronic diahorrea and he is always desperate for the toilet. He was left for 4 hours without even a glass of water. When I asked for a cardboard bottle for him to urinate into they said they had run out. Nobody spoke to him about a strategy for toileting or asked him what his needs are. He was in agony and they refused to let him take his pain killers saying that they need to meet with a doctor before every dose. He was supposed to not eat for 8 hours and take 2 doses to clear his bowel. Instead of giving him the first dose straight away they made him wait for 8 hours before the first dose. This is a man who weights 8 stone being deprived of food for 16 hours instead of 8 hours and deprived of water and a way to toilet himself. If someone clearly cannot get to the toilet...how can there be no assessment made by a nurse so that they dont soil themselves? We were just told that a commode was on its way and that arrived after 6 hours.

Visited with my daughter who had suspected fracture . Was seen and given pain relief and x rated within 30 mins and after treatment given . Superb care and all staff we came across from the staff in children waiting area in accident and emergency to the radiographers to the lovely practitioner we saw to get the boot were all amazing and so kind . Really impressed . Keep up the fantastic work you all do . So grateful

Having had surgery 26/1 came out of theatre then went onto recovery room then onto ward 16 I'd like to thank all the staff who were there to care for me you were all so wonderful and very caring throughout my 5 day stay made me feel at home. Loved to see all the different members of my care team come onto the ward every morning to see how things were. Plenty of food choice to and the food was amazing . Thank you all

My 10-year-old son attended the outpatients department for surgery on his mouth. Every single member of staff that we met was so kind, caring, friendly and knowledgeable. It was the first time my son has had any type of treatment so we were all nervous. I could not have asked for better care. He was quite poorly after and the first thing he said when he came round was that the staff had been so kind to him. The kindness and comfort we were given made a very difficult day as easy as it could.

The Neurologist cannot be faulted, amazing service. They quickly saw me and got everything sorted. The lovely Dr/Consultant in G1 was amazing. After having a stressful few days previously they got; MRI, bloods, lumbar puncture and medicines organised. Thank you for all your help and making me feel at ease. I might get to walk the Reindeer Rush after all but I will be handing my santa suit over to someone else this year but because of you guys I get to see my class before Christmas.

My son attended York A&E department with a laceration to his hand. From arriving to A&E all the staff treated him with lots of care and professionalism. The care he was provided with was fantastic, and I am very grateful for that.

Had to go to the A&E dept of York hospital November 2023. Had a hip problem that I need some medical assistance with. We were there for about 6 hours. The dept was very busy. Although it was a long time, we were met with nothing but helpful, informative staff. All were friendly and helpful, always had smiles on their faces. Credit to all the different medical personnel we came in contact with. Even the senior doctor took time to explain the medical treatment his department was delivering. Well done NHS York.

The Ophthalmology department at York Hospital enabled me to see the world again through my left eye. I have keratoconus and without the care and support I recieved from this department, I wouldn't be able to see like I can now. I am eternally greatful for everything you have done. Thank you so much. You are truly wondeful people!
