  1. Review titled Superb

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sarah Sharp - Posted on 21 May 2023

Having recently spent a few weeks on Ward 20 I cannot praise the hospital and staff enough. The care and attention I received was second to none from every member of staff. Not just the nursing and clinical support staff, who were kindness personified, but the physios and OTs and doctors were so good as were the cleaning and catering staff who were all friendly and chatty. I had been a patient on the same ward a year ago and so many people remembered me which really goes to show how good the care and attention is. The A&E staff, and ambulance staff, were equally brilliant and made me feel safe and cared for from the outset. While I would not recommend needing hospital admission if you do need it then I cannot think you could find a better place to be than at Pembury.

Dear Ms Sharp Thank you for taking the time to submit your feedback regarding your recent experience when attending Tunbridge Wells Hospital. Though I was very sorry to learn that you were unwell and had to stay in hospital I am very pleased that you felt the care and attention you received from all involved was 'second to none'. It is lovely to read that you felt everybody involved was good and that catering and domestic staff were friendly and chatty. All staff appreciate receiving such kind words and praise, so please be assured that I have passed your feedback to the Ward, OT/Physio, Catering and Domestic management teams, so that they can share amongst their staff. 3. Review titled Amazing Kindness and Professionalism

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by John Fogarty - Posted on 12 May 2023

I was transferred from A&E to the CCU on Monday 8th May 23, and from the moment I entered the unit, the staff were amazing. They were very professional but also very kind and human, while at the same time ensured my condition was managed. The surgeons were brilliant and fully explained the options, and executed my angiogram and angioplasty with such care and understanding. I will be forever grateful to everybody involved for their amazing care.

  4. Review titled Really good experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 April 2023

Received great support from nhs 111 advising me to go to hospital, when I arrived my referral was already at accident and emergency , my subsequent examination and treatment was thorough and although I had to return to the surgical assessment unit the following morning the experience was really supportive and thorough. Throughout the experience all levels of staff were kind and professional, maintaining my dignity in what was a very undignified situation. I am incredibly grateful that the hospital and its staff were there for me.

  5. Review titled The Saints still live

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by John White - Posted on 30 April 2023

My wife, a heavy smoker was admitted with excaerbated copd which turned out to be compicated by covid. After triage and assessment the prognosis was not promising. My treatment as an attending relative was impecable. I was allowed to remain with the patient throughout the admission, even after the covid positive diagnosis. I had to leave her before further assessment and treatment to organise transport, etc, of other fanily members. We were visiting an elderly relative in Tunbridge Wells, and staying the night in a hotel. Throughot the next hours I had no knowledge of ny wife;s condition, which was vety worrying, although I was aware that all efforts were being made to save her life. I was very encouraged when I eventually made contact with the direct numbr for Ward 21 later that afternoon to hear that she was misbehaving and trying to get out of bed, and taking off her oxygen mask. During the next few days I was joined by our two daughters for a reunion of just us four, a juxtaposition unprcedented for 30 years. We were allowed access, initially permanent, but later curtailed to 12pm - 7pm. The ward staff were amazingly attentive. We feel so privileged to have been there and for our succesful discharge, but saddened that not all patients make it to the front door.. I don't really understand the new covid rules, but your handling of our case was sensitve and care-full. All our love to the beautiful people at Pembury John Carol, Alex amd Becci xxxx

  7. Review titled Outstanding

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Aysa Hazarbuz - Posted on 26 April 2023

I have struggled with mental health for many years. Stress and anxiety is one. Every single midwife, doctor, nurse etc who took care of me during my visit where absolutely amazing. I had to go through my worst ever fear of having to have emergency surgery. My labour ended in an emergency c-section and despite my horrible words and actions due to my fears and pain I was in everyone involved actually made me feel safe. Everyone just got on with what needed to be done. everything around me stayed calm. There was a lot going on at once and it was a lot too process in such a small amount of time. Me and my baby are now home healthy happy and safe thanks to everyone who took care of us. All the midwifes where happy, friendly, understanding, helpful and much more. The place itself is kept clean and organised. There was plenty of choice for meal times. Thank you to everyone involved in mine and my babies care your hard work did not go unoticed

  8. Review titled Good job

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Julie Akers - Posted on 23 April 2023

My son Thomas had his Gallbladder removed last Wednesday (19/4/23) in the short stay unit. Tom is profoundly deaf and losing his sight, he suffers this disability very bravely and has never grumbled about his lot in life but the constant pain and sickness with this additional disease had used up all his reserves. I cannot speak highly enough of all the staff in the short stay unit, reception, nursing and the surgical team. The day went smoothly. It can be challenging communicating with Tom, nobody was fazed by his disability, Tom was treated like any other patient.the whole team showed knowledge, skills, kindness and empathy. Tom is now much better, getting stronger each day, he has his vibrancy back, his sense of humour. Thankyou so much to the whole team, you are magnificent. We send all our thanks and appreciation to you all. Yours most sincerely. Thomas Akers, Parichat Akers (Wife) Julie Akers (Mum) and Jeremy Akers (Dad)

  9. Review titled Great service during the junior doctors' strike

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Alan - Posted on 15 April 2023

Late evening around 9pm I had to attend A&E, fully aware this was during the junior doctors' strike. Despite the strain this must have placed on the department I have nothing but praise for the people I met and the treatment I received. The lady on the A&E check-in desk, the triage nurse and the doctor were all most helpful, friendly and professional. I also did not experience any long periods waiting to be seen. I was sent home after tests were carried out and receiving painkillers, knowing that I would come back the following day for a scan. The efficiency continued - I had a call early the following morning at 9 am asking me to have a scan. A huge thank you!!!

Every member of staff I encountered from the surgeons, the anaesthetists and the nurses were all fantastic, so kind and compassionate with everything. And reassured me with everything. I am an extremely anxious patient and they really kept me calm, I really couldn’t thank them enough for saving my life and for how kind everyone was on the ward.
