Review titled Maternity services - repeatedly cancelled appointments
by Jolex93 - Posted on 16 January 2023
Absolutely appalling maternity services. Must be a shortage of midwifes in North tees, Shocking lack of care and needs improving. Almost impossible to get a appointment with a midwife, they seem to think it's appropriate just to cancel appointments. Disrespectful attitude and no concern for pregnant women. Requested that I didn't want to see the midwife that repeatedly cancelled my appointments as she was clearly uninterested. I was told I could not change to a different midwife. I have now found out I can request another midwife. I feel it very unprofessional to misinform me. I have had to pay for a private scan as I have waited far too long. What is going on with maternity services in North tees. Why am I having to wait for antenatal care, this is very worrying. It has frightened me so much , and I am not looking forward to the rest of my pregnancy if this is the treatment that pregnant women have to endure.

Review titled All staff members amazing!
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Jade Bowers - Posted on 12 January 2023
Throughout my pregnancy, the community midwives at both north tees and rowan maternity hub were incredible and put us at ease throughout. My birth didn't exactly go to plan, but North Tees maternity services did absolutely everything they possibly could to reassure us and make our experience the best it could be. From the moment we stepped foot into the delivery room, we were made to feel comfortable and that we were in charge. Everything was explained and options were clearly discussed and explained to us, with no pushing to make particular decisions. The environment was warm, welcoming and peaceful with dimmed lights, a bath, ball, sofa, chair and even star lights on the ceiling. This setting made the first half of my labour extremely enjoyable. I ended up having an emergency c section, which I was terrified about. But every member of staff we came across, from midwives to doctors to surgeons to anaesthetists to students were beyond exceptional. Every single one made an effort to ensure I was comfortable, calm and supported - even down to wiping the tears from my eyes during surgery. The ladies on ward 22 were also incredible, they are so supportive and there whenever you needed them. I felt pretty useless after my section because I couldn't even lift my baby to feed him, but they were there as soon as you pressed the buzzer to help with whatever you needed - even if it was an hour's rest where they watched over baby! I wish I could thank every single member of staff again because honestly they were incredible! Thankyou everyone!

Review titled Lovely & friendly

I visited this hospital for the first time January 2023, must admit I had trouble finding the visitors car park. When I finally found a Blue Badge place I was struggling to understand the parking notice. ' Take your Blue badge to the security office to book in. I was pondering on this, is I take my blue badge away, I will get fined. Just then, a person, about to start work in the hospital asked me if I was ok, I explained my predicament, she soon explained what I had to do, I was so grateful. On entering the hospital i was reading the board to locate my cardio dept and once again some member of staff asked if they could help and showed me the direction I had to go. Even when I found my correct destination, the staff of the ct3 dept were wonderful. Full of praise for the staff at this hospital. Many thanks, Denis.

Review titled Can not stick by appointment time!

I called this practice at around 4am after which I was given an appointment slot fo4 5:30 which I was told meant I wouldn't have to have a long wait. I am yet to be called in and it is now 6:33am what is the use of being given an appointment I probably would have been seen quicker if I turned up at 4am when I called.

Review titled Fantastic Team

The staff were all amazing. From the admin team to the nurses and doctors. The compassion and empathy provided to our family during this time will never be forgotten. We were made to feel welcome and never in the way, despite the department being busy. The doctors and nurses were fantastic at explaining everything to each family member and managing our emotional responses. The admin staff were caring and supportive towards our family who were understandably very upset. This was, and continues to be, a very difficult time for us but it was made a little easier by the professionalism and service of your great team. Thank you so much, from the bottom of our hearts. You really have a team of angels.

Review titled Caring and compassionate
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I attended for a hysteroscopy/biopsy today. Although this isn’t a pleasant experience, the consultants and their team showed genuine kindness and compassion at each and every stage of the process. They explained what they were doing and checked on my well-being frequently throughout the procedure. The team made me feel cared for, they were sensitive and respectful of my dignity throughout. The team made a potentially embarrassing, uncomfortable and unpleasant experience a hundred times better because of their kindness and compassion! Thank you!
