Visited audiology today and experienced a very thorough, helpful & informative consultation. Everything was explained really well and I know I can make contact if I have any further issues. A long wait for the appointment but very happy with the service offered.

  2. Review titled A&E - good service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 22 September 2023

Cannot thank the A&E staff enough... polite, caring and helpful. I attended earlier in the week during the middle of the night with my son who had an abdominal problem... in and out within 4hrs... a huge improvement on my last visit which entailed a 12hr wait! The worst aspect was witnessing the car park jobsworth eagerly slapping tickets on cars at 0800 - if only the hapless management could cut the non jobs, cut the wokery, cut the waste and then the parking could, as it should, be free.

Super service after my husband suffered from a suspected stroke. Care and consideration from the specialist staff, as well as those in a and e, the CT scan and MRI departments, along with the vascular technician. Doctors and nurses very caring.

  4. Review titled Unbelievably fast service - Thank-you

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 31 August 2023

I experienced chest pain so my GP said I would have to go to Urgent Care. I called 111 and after going through the assessment (by a kind operator) an appointment was made at Urgent Care. Once at the hospital I was called to triage (less than 5 mins) who determined it was unlikely to be heart related. WIthin 10 minutes I was seen by a Dr who asked an assistant to perform an ECG. The Dr then reviewed the results with me. Total time including my travel and parking was 2 hours from 111 call. The service could not have been better and my thanks to all the staff for such a good experience.

  6. Review titled Outstandingly care before, during and after hip surgery

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Claire Bloomfield - Posted on 09 August 2023

On the morning of 3rd August 2023 I attended Watford General Hospital and was admitted to A & E, after having suffered a high impact injury on my left thigh, caused by my horse earlier that day. From the moment I arrived until the moment I left (pm 7/9/23,) I was attended to professionally, respectfully, and sympathetically by every single member of staff. I was initially held in A& E whilst being assessed, (X-rays taken, bloods taken, injections and meds given, help with use of bed pans, etc.) by several different nurses, doctors, and orthopaedic surgeons. My fracture was quite complicated, but it was carefully explained to my husband and I (by the orthopaedic consultants,) what damage had been caused and what could be done about it. We were therefore able to make an informed decision. After agreeing that surgery was required, I was taken to Ridge Ward later that day where the same high standard of care continued. My surgery took place the next day. I was kept fully informed and updated throughout the waiting time. The whole experience was expertly handled pre op, during the op, and post op. The orthopaedic surgeon and his team did a fantastic job, so I now have a wound that is healing well and I’m recovering fast (still being careful not to overdo things!) All the nurses, doctors, anaesthetists, and every other member of support staff, did themselves proud. The nurses, doctors and physios, and support staff who attended to me in Ridge Ward were hard working, patient, and caring, carrying out their work with a wonderful sense of humour. The food was satisfying, with many vegetarian options, and was served at the right temperature. Very high standards of hygiene were maintained throughout my stay. The same professionalism continued into my day of discharge, (1pm 7/8/23) until the moment I left. Although everyone had a specific job to do, they worked together brilliantly, as an efficient, professional and caring team. Well done!

  7. Review titled Broken system

Rated 1 star out of 5

Since covid, been trying to work out how the new NHS works. Been trying to go through NHS 111, but for non-critical that doesn't seem to work. Called NHS 111 to get some urgent treatment for sciatica. Got an urgent medical appointment for 1pm on a sunday. Figured we would see a doctor about then. Instead we joined a queue. 5 hours later still waiting. I appreciate that walkins are urgent too, but if appointments are enforced, then people instead of clogging up the waiting area could be encouraged to wait that 5 or six hours somewhere more comfortable and turn up when the doctor can see them. Next time I plan to arive at 7:30 am and be first in queue, not going to bother with NHS 111.

  9. Review titled Wonderful care and attention

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Richard Allan Clark - Posted on 06 July 2023

I was treated with such kindness and care at all times. I was thoroughly checked over and kept fully informed at every stage: ambulance, reception and numerous specialists, CT scanner and doctors and consultant. All the nursing staff were so efficient and effective in everything they did for me throughout the 10 hours I was under their care. I was also able to witnesses numerous acts of empathetic kindness towards those who were elderly, distressed or confused. Never a harsh word just gentle guidance, delivered quietly and then checked to ensure the patients understanding . Thank you everyone.

I am trying to change an appointment given for July 9th. I have emailed a week ago with no response. Today, July 3rd I phone and was held as "number 1 in the queue" for 25 minutes before I gave up. I wish to make sure I cannot attend my 9th July appointment. I do not wish to lose my right to a further appointment. I have several health problem that cause this request.
