  1. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Clare - Posted on 23 November 2023

My Dad attended the out patient department for a recheck appointment. He was in an enormous amount of pain due to his cancer which makes it very difficult for him to sit on a chair. There was a lovely porter who immediately alerted the nursing team to his distress and a bed and room was organised for him within minutes. The consultant visited him in this room and the phlebotomist also came to him to minimise his discomfort. After his appointment, the porter took him all the way back to my car in a wheelchair. All of this was done without having to ask. Everyone was so compassionate with him, and it was done in a light caring manner to minimise embarrassment. I can’t tell you how much it was appreciated. Thank you

  3. Review titled Amazing Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Isla - Posted on 25 November 2023

My daughter refused to take the sleeping gas at the last second and although her behaviour still haunts me, I can’t thank the staff enough for being so patient and coming up with all the different ways to talk to her. My head was in pieces trying to work out where the sudden fear and from but staff stayed calm, professional and supportive throughout. I wanted to apologise to them for what we put them through and thank them for trying so hard for Isla - she now fully regrets her decision and wishes she’d have listened to you now.

  4. Review titled Superb Teamwork...

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by James Page - Posted on 15 November 2023

From my initial procedure at St.Helens Hospital in early September, right through to my ongoing weekly treatments at the 'Dressings Clinic' the clerical & medical staff have been excellent. Despite the huge numbers of patients and demand for services, they have been cheerful, friendly and supportive. So often, NHS staff only get to hear complaints, which can be very demoralising. The nursing staff and doctors took time to explain everything that took place with my treatment. Many thanks indeed and 'keep up the good work'.

  6. Review titled shocking practice

i've had to go into hospital 3 times this week once by ambulance due to excruciating pain in my lower abdomen and back. it's been a nightmare to get scans and been waiting more than 8 hours at a time in a&e. they have sent me home each time for me to have to be rushed straight back in due to unbearable pain, they told me to go home and put a hot water bottle on it because the pains didn't fit into 1 category so they didn't have a clue what was wrong basically. finally i seen a doctor who actually helped he figured it was kidney problems and booked me a scan for the next day. i rang up my gp as i was told to see where the scan would be they informed me they are unable to do the scan and i would have to go and wait in a&e again or wait till monday (it was thursday) none of the nurses or doctors have any sympathy or time of day for anyone. if you are thinking of going to this hospital i would highly recommend that you don't it's an absolute joke.

  7. Review titled Rude personnel

by Liena - Posted on 25 February 2025

When you go to A&E everywhere you see posters No Abuse to a Personnel! But what about personnel abusing patients? After my stay in hospital I’m scared now to go to see any doctors as how I was treated. It all started with chest pain and hands twisted and locked in weird painful positions, feeling like loosing a balance. Went few times and had done blood tests, ECG and got told there is nothing wrong, you probably got a virus go home. Nurse told me only come back if it gets worse and made me feel like I’m faking my symptoms. After few visits was kept in hospital corridor to be sent for a bed in cardiology as apparently in resting position heart can’t be 120. I had been given blood thinners but nothing what would slow my heart, stayed few days in corridor. One day in corridor my blood pressure jumped 180/130 I felt like my heart will explode, there was a doctor sitting to next bed patient, I said that I feel very bad and I was ignored. Patient said to doctor to come and help me to what he said it’s nothing serious and pulled an angry face on me and didn’t helped, after few minutes there was a nurse who did a routine checks and did mine, packed me on a chair and rushed me to intensive care where I stayed over night, where my heart raced like crazy and I was in pain. Didn’t had any medications given again and got said they don’t know why my heart is racing and I will be sent to cardiology ward. Then I met first cardiologist who did check up and said everything is fine, but got given propranolol to slow heart and lower pressure. What have a relief. But the check up didn’t went smooth, I was looked on angry, said to me why I’m so stiff, relax, like I’m faking a symptoms in a very rude manner, even nurses agreed to that after he left as I bursted in tears. My hands was still locked and my feet could move properly. I was done different tests and they said heart is fine, I was done a lots of blood tests, but nobody didn’t explained me what are they doing. After week in hospital I did self discharge as they said it could be neurological and that if I will stay in hospital an other 2 weeks I might be seen by neurologist. But my son was waiting for me st home. After discharge tried to contact cardiology of tests what was done, never got reply and my gp didn’t got test results in system as they were not shared with him. After 1 year of waiting got a neurology appointment where I’m diagnosed with Dystonia/dyskinesia. Went privately to Cardiologist where I got diagnosed with Tachycardia. My question is why neurological patient is treated like I’m faking symptoms. I genuinely didn’t knew what’s going on with me. My answer to you is Don’t abuse patients as well! It took me 1,5 of years to get over trauma but a fear to see doctors I still have!

  8. Review titled Awful treatment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 September 2024

Waters broke on the Monday went in after being unable to get comfortable and was sat on the toilet with the urge to push all night. Sent home 5 times being told ‘come back when you can’t talk then you’ll be in labour the pain will be so severe’ sent home then told if came back I’d get induced so I said just induce me was booked for 11am the next day (3 days after my waters had broke) and was found to have a temp over 40 and rushed to the delivery suite where the babies head could be seen and I was fully dilated (like I’d been saying for days) never got to the stage where couldn’t talk and the contractions never reached painful but had a traumatic experience which ended in a third degree tear and an episiotomy and forceps all because to be in labour “you can’t talk you’re in so much pain”. Was even asked if I’m sure hadn’t urinated and it wasn’t my waters? have no confidence in the midwife service here but the surgery team were great. After giving birth at 7pm ( arrived at 11) had had no food and asked for some toast was starving after labour, being awake for hours and then surgery and was told no but could have a sandwich which was ham. Explained I’m vegetarian and told there’s nothing they have. So the day went over 48 hours without food. begrudge coming back again for any subsequent pregnancies.

  10. Review titled Consistently good treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by KAB - Posted on 04 October 2023

I received excellent treatment in the emergency dept. I was triaged very quickly and didn't have to wait long to see a doctor. The doctor was extremely thorough, kind and professional and I felt that I was getting the best possible help. Every member of staff I encountered was very caring and I don't think anything could have been improved.
