Review titled Competence, care and comfort
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Carole Davies - Posted on 24 June 2024
I wish to report my experience since I began chemotherapy treatment six months ago at Worcester Royal Acute Hospital's Haematology Department. My specialist is so kind. His commitment, skill and compassion are remarkable. His team really do work as a team, showing courtesy, co-operation and professional respect with one another. They seldom stand still and move confidently, calmly and with unfailing good humour. Each patient is admitted with a cheerful "Hello - come on in." I never feel a "faceless number" - if there is a hiatus, someone will tell us what is happening - we are not left isolated or forgotten. I am thankful for all their diligence.

Review titled Not answering patient calls or calling back
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Angela Davies - Posted on 17 August 2023
My wound opened and I have stitch fragments left in after having stitches removed. Tried calling Dermatology Nursing Team but only got a recording telling me to leave details. I've dine this for 2 days, I'm still waiting for the call back. Tried calling Dermatology dept but can't get through. I'm worried about the wound that's opened and stitch fragments left in there. My own medical practice said I need to go back to the doctor that done the procedure. Minor injuries unit told me the same. How do I get through to them?

I would just like to say a massive thank you for everything you did for me on the 22nd June, you really did save my life. Thank you for the care , reassurance and help you provided. Everyone involved in treating me and helping me were amazing. I know you don't get the credit and thanks you deserve. Once again thank you. Everyone from the reception team, nurses, and ENT department were first class with the treatment and service provided.

Review titled So frustrating
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Lucille Lilley - Posted on 05 July 2023
I had a sleep apnea test in May. The lady at the pod was lovely and the test fairly simple. I'm on the waiting list for other surgery which relies on the results of this test. I've heard nothing. So I thought I would call the department to see if there was any progess. There isn't even an option for leaving a message. I simply cannot speak to anyone about this issue and have to hope that at some point they send my results. 01905 760690 gives you nothing! 0190576333 put you through to an employee line which asks you for your name and extension. I have been trying for hours. I cant do any more. Please send me my results.

Review titled Disappointed
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I waited nine months for an appointment had to pay for someone to take me to the hospital and was told to spit in four pots and return them to the gp surgery. Surely this could have been done during the nine month wait. The results take two months. This means by the time I get another appointment it will be a year from referral to any treatment. I will have to struggle on trying to do everyday tasks until they send another appointment ( If they do) to see if they finally decide what is wrong with me and start treatment.

Having waited several hours to see a doctor we eventually asked reception if they knew how much longer we would have to wait. We were told we had to speak to the nurse in charge but were not told where the nurse in charge was. After waiting another half an hour looking for someone who looked like a nurse in charge I asked reception again how long it would be to be seen. I was again told to speak to the nurse in charge who it turns out was based down a corridor behind a door with a bell you had to press. After finally getting someone to answer the bell I was told my name had been called earlier. We had been in the waiting room the whole time and at no point did we hear my name called. I said I wanted to discharge myself and was told the doctor will see you shortly. We sat another hour and still I wasn’t called so I yet again had to go back down the corridor and wait for someone to open the door so that I could discharge myself. Then I was told the doctor had clicked on my name so would I go back to the waiting room. Again I sat for another half an hour and the person I was with stopped a passing nurse who spoke to the doctor on our behalf. When I was eventually seen the doctor said three different people had called my name but as either myself or the person I was with were in the waiting room at all times this was not the case. Unless these three people whispered my name. There should be a screen in the waiting room showing wait times and more organisation is needed among staff. The nurse in charge should be based where people can see them or a sign put up so people know where to go.I found it a very unsatisfactory experience.

I was admitted unconscious blue light ambulance also efficient, but my family described the care as excellent and the staff kind and competent. It was a challenging time for my family but they were kept informed of my care.

Review titled Physiotherapy 2 flights of stairs no lift
Rated 2 stars out of 5

Went for physio on crutches , signage all incorrect no lift been broken for 3 months had to climb 3 flights of stairs on double crutches , felt I was in a third world hospital , receptionist area empty went further on and spoke to 4 members of staff saying they were having lunch someone would be back soon , left feeling I was interfering with their conversation on what was on tv last evening , the only saving grace was the physiotherapist seemed to know what she was doing , a very sad picture for Worcester hospital where it seems patient s don’t matter

Review titled Treatment denied once again
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by William Hall - Posted on 22 March 2023
Why hold onto a patient? if you cannot treat that patient then refer that patient on to someone that can - if you cannot do the treatment required that just say 'I cannot do this persons treatment' how hard is that? In my case you keep cancelling appointments with no end date in sight, I was referred to you in January 2023 and you have cancelled 2 appointments. I am told that I then go to the back of the queue for the following month and so on. What about duty of Candor and duty of care? Don't hold onto me just because you don't want to treat me, if not this why the cancellations? why are no reasons given in writing? You may or may not share frustrations over short staff issues but you do not share my suffering so in effect there is no effect to your hospitals doctors only to the patient on the receiving end of such poor inadequate treatment in this case me. You could easily access my list of injuries as defined by uk doctors many years ago. Does a patient really have to be subjected to such terrible treatment as in my case? 35 years on a waiting list to get on the real waiting list!!!! I have recently discovered that a patient is not on a waiting list until a consultant says that patient should go on a waiting list. And then in my case I just wait for 35 years - if you cannot do the surgery required just say so and by the way I do not want surgery to create major new deformities sorry - abroad the doctors really care here in the uk they do not at least that is my bitter and painful 35 + plus experience in the uk every single day
