  1. Review titled Very Impressed

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lois - Posted on 19 January 2023

All the staff I encountered at Worthing Hospital A&E, Resus & Majors are fantastic - they were kind to patients and kind to each other - very impressed with how they managed demanding patients in the wards with kindness and dignity. Although I came into hospital during NHS strike I never felt my care was compromised in any way. Staff appeared highly motivated and care about what they do and dont complain about each other. The consultant and doctors were first class - knowledgeable and took time to listen and explain. I felt safe and left with a clear idea about post-hospital follow-up for my condition. Highlights - the cheerful Resus team in A&E - all staff taking bloods were gentle and professional - impressive quality of medical staff, nurses, doctors, junior doctors and consultants - clean & airy environment - very impressed generally.

  2. Review titled First class treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Bill - Posted on 13 January 2023

I attended A&E with bowel issues and I was quickly moved through triage into treatment. During my time in A&E and subsequently in the emergency ward I received brilliant care and the staff in all areas couldn’t have been more compassionate or caring. Despite at times being under considerable pressure due to the sheer weight of numbers of patients they carried on in a cheerful manner and frankly nothing was too much trouble. I was constantly put at ease and I was kept updated as to my medical situation and the course of treatment I was undergoing. I cannot imagine having been dealt with any better. Staff anyone would be proud of.

  3. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Corinne - Posted on 20 January 2023

Treated with kindness and efficiency during endoscopy, during difficult times. All my anxieties were understood and the whole procedure was carried out with care and attention to me as a first time patient. For my follow up endoscopy I will not feel like ‘a rabbit caught in the headlights’, thanks to your lovely team. Thank you so much.

  4. Review titled 3rd class

Rated 1 star out of 5

What is happening with this hospital? Consultant letters taking weeks to get to GPs & patients. Example : Urologist at St Richards, Chichester, dictated letter to GP(copy to me) on 13/12/22 (despite being under care of Worthing hospital); typed 22/12/22; posted 2nd class 2/1/23; received 5/1/23 i.e.23 days & before the excuse of postal disruptions this has happened several times over the last year(well before postal strikes) & on 1 occasion it took 8 weeks. Where exactly in the world are letters processed & why?Is it just a money saving gimmick because there is no overall saving if patient care suffers as a result.

  5. Review titled Incredible service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mr Silburn - Posted on 13 December 2022

Referred Monday under the Two week rule for lump in throat. Rung by ENT Wednesday, given an appointment for 9am Friday, seen by ENT consultant who performed nasal endoscopy there and then. Nothing sinister seen and sent on our way with support and advice. Absolutely faultless. Thank you so very much

  6. Review titled Polite

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Miss Whittaker - Posted on 30 December 2022

I was sent by GP as my heart rate was 140. I arrived at 12.30pm I was seen for bloods and an ECG around 1pm which was super quick. I was taken through to majors where there were beds and people lined through the ward waiting for bags (very sad to see for the staff and patients although not their fault) I was then told they wanted to do a CT scan and that someone would grab me from the waiting room 'shortly'. Around 9.30pm a GP grabbed me and said 'oh you haven't had your scan yet I thought you had?!' he apologized but I couldn't help feeling a little disheartening as it felt id been forgotten about but I understand the pressure so I can look past that. He then was very efficient and led me for my scan. I'm very nervous with new things and had a small panic attack during the scan but the person doing my scan reassured me and I was fine. Only had to wait about 1hour for results to come back. Had a chat with GP who then apologized again and sent me home. Although I was upset that I seemed forgotten about im sure it was just miscommunication during shift changes and they were very polite when it came to it. We are lucky to have them and need to remember we do not pay for their care directly so should count ourselves lucky to be seen and helped.

  7. Review titled Chemotherapy

    by travellermp85 - Posted on 05 January 2023

I was usually treated by different agency nurses each time. The care is outstanding but staff tell me are seriously understaffed, underpaid and unsupported by their senior management. Several nurses are on long term sick with stress. I believe the outlook is better with a new manager in post last year, but heartbreaking to hear their stories within a struggling NHS.

  9. Review titled ENT at Worthing today

Rated 1 star out of 5

Unsociable consultant, didn’t acknowledge me really, didn’t say why I was having a follow up, I said it. Looked in my mouth briefly and continued to type on his computer awkward silence followed. Never asked how I was. Ring my secretary pls. 5 minutes later done & dusted. Came out completely defeated l. I have never had such awful interpersonal care and left thinking I don’t want to see him again! If it was being filmed I bet it would have been hearts& roses. Shame on him

  10. Review titled Terrible place

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 November 2022

Had to visit Worthing A & E yesterday with my 84 year old wife. It was a terrible experience. It took over 13 hours to see a doctor. The waiting room was overcrowded and dirty, and staff would not allow patients to be accompanied. It was overnight so there was not food or hot drinks available. Worthing Hospital should be ashamed.
