I had 2 appointments for suspected cancer everything was explained really clearly the Drs HCA and nurses all made me feel at ease . I didn’t have such a great time a few years ago at another hospital so was extra nervous but the care I had was first class .

  2. Review titled Outstanding and fast response to stroke

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by VicS Storrington - Posted on 26 August 2023

Fortunately the (review restrictions means fast must be written in lower case) campaign resulted in my wife knowing that she needed to contact emergency services. I had noticed nothing was wrong when mowing the lawn on a hot day. On a tea break my wife saw that I was drooling from the side of my mouth and my left lip had dropped. An Ambulance arrived in about ten minutes . The paramedics were carried out thorough checks. They were kind and supporting and assured me that it was essential they take me to A&E and I would not have a long wait for attention. On arrival at Worthing Hospital I was wheeled immediately into the A&E stroke unit an I felt reasonably OK. I thought my speech was almost normal but joked with one of the team when I got stuck on finishing a difficult sentence. Was so grateful to be able to use my mobile phone and let my daughter and wife know about my progress. Once all the initial consultations, ECG and other monitors plus blood tests had been completed I was advised about the future plans. These would be a brain scan and checks of the main arteries in the neck. All this took place within a relatively short period of time and I was discharged in the early afternoon. Fortunately brain scan, ECGs and neck arteries were fine. The diagnosis was a TIA (or mini-stroke) and that I should not drive for a period of one month. Fortunate to have completed this review without typos! I am a fast touch typist and yesterday one hand was faster than the other! Special thanks to all the NHS team from call centre, stroke team and those providing the cleaning and other domestic services. Sincere hope that those providing care in the NHS are able to do so with assurances that inflation and other factors do not mean their own families do not suffer because of their dedication to others.

  5. Review titled The kindest, calmest and most effective help in ages

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 July 2023

I was unfortunate enough to need A&E at the weekend when my GP was unable to see me in the week. I was transferred from A&E to UTC and was apprehensive at first. So much seems to have changed since I last needed to visit. 111 calls can now book you in to A&E, iPads to book in on the day and I’d never heard of UTC. The person I saw there was amazing, I’d seen her coming in and out of the waiting room, providing booking letters and reassurance in between seeing patients. Couldn’t have been more pleased with my care. How these superstars manage with overstretched budgets, rising visitor numbers and limited equipment I’ll never know. Big thanks from me.

  7. Review titled Great experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Barbara D. Graysmark - Posted on 14 July 2023

I have had several endoscopes but yesterday was the best. All the staff were friendly, welcoming and explained things every step of the way, making me feel more at ease. Although the procedure is never pleasant but this team of ladies and one male nurse made it a much better experience.

  8. Review titled Really positive experience

    by corridorhe93 - Posted on 20 July 2023

I was absolutely terrified to have my relatively minor procedure under general anaesthetic but also due to ongoing news reports about the NHS. My experience was incredibly positive- absolutely everyone I encountered at my pre-op assessment, Chanctonbury Ward and the surgical team were just lovely. Calm, friendly, patient, knowledgeable and reassuring. I really hope I don't ever have to go back but, if I do, I know I'm in safe hands. Thank you very much. I wish you were all funded better.

  9. Review titled A n e

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 July 2023

Very condescending, was in excruciating pain rolling round, asked for help but was ignoring and little bit of medical gas lighting. Was very unhappy with care provided as I am chronically disabled aswell. And not taken into account any of my wishes

  10. Review titled Endoscopy procedure

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Mary P - Posted on 31 July 2023

Thank you to all the staff in the endoscopy unit for the excellent care and consideration with exemplary professionalism and efficiency. Every step of the procedure was explained to me in a very coherent way. I am eternally grateful for our National Health Service; it is a shame it has become such a political football. Again, thank you.
