  1. Review titled Superb Treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Jim S - Posted on 02 February 2024

I was admitted to A&E with chest pains and even though the department was very busy I reasonably quickly went through a series of tests including e.s.g. and blood pressure tests. Within a few hours they confirmed I'd had a heart attack and was to be moved to a cardiac ward. The doctors and nursing staff who were extremely busy were excellent. They were very caring and took the time to explain what was happening to me. The way I was looked after was excellent, I couldn't have been better treated anywhere else.

  3. Review titled Wonderful Allergy Centre

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I came for a review to the clinic following an anaphylactic reaction a while ago. The treatment and reassurance from the team was second to none. The whole department is friendly and proficient. You are treated with respect and a genuine care from all the team. I cannot thank the Allergy Centre enough, I am grateful that this clinic is near to where I live but I would be happy to travel a distance just to be treated by these professionals.

  4. Review titled Terrible service and management

Rated 1 star out of 5

    by D A Mac Dougall - Posted on 08 December 2023

I have gone here for years. No issue. My brace broke 3 emergency appointment later I gave up. No calls to tell me times no discussion and they no longer respond to email or phone and when they do 40 minutes five numbers no appointments. To make it worse I then missed my last appointment due to having emergency surgery . Can I cancel in the app it's all done by. No I can't I can call a number they don't answer. Did I get rebooked into the system for following up no I did not. That's happens before and I had a six month gap. The process I'm going trough says two to three years to complete we are now on five years and no appointments with a broken brace. And no follow up care in place. Nuses are rude on the phone. Reception no help either ignore my emails. Off to find the pliers and DIY.

  5. Review titled Appalling - no kindness, no communication

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 December 2023

Attended (still here) six hours later with my dad. My dad collapsed in the street lost consciousness and was attended to by an Off duty gp who suspected a heart attack ambulance was an hour and half wait, after an hour we decided to get him In the car. Got here, the gp impressed on the staff her concerns. Parked us in waiting room, still here, no sign of a dr, no medical history of note taken by triage, ecg done and had to beg for the results, blood test done came back but nobody bothered to tell us that there was a concern and it needed repeating, at my complaint it was repeated, still waiting for the result. If my dad is having a cardiac event, no intervention has been carried out, no prophylactic aspirin nothing. Also my dads regular meds at home they have not issued us any. When challenged they say they are busy, I ask why they cannot communicate results, they say they are busy…. As an ex nurse I am truly appalled - my dad was lay in a road for god knows how long and he he still dumped here in a wheelchair. Would that be ok for your parents? I think not. Staff should treat patients how they would like their own to be treated, kindness and compassion is free

Thankyou for raising your concerns following your attendance at the Wythenshawe Emergency Department. Our Emergency Department (ED) management would like to apologise for your long wait to be seen and your unsatisfactory experience. They would also like to apologise for the lack of communication, and for the upset and distress this caused you and your dad at what must have already been a very distressing time for you both. The ED is under significant pressure at this time and unfortunately there can often be a long delay to be seen by a clinician; however, we always expect staff to be empathetic and treat patients, relatives, carers and other members of the public and staff with kindness and compassion at all times. We are reviewing our processes in ED to ensure we are as effective as we can be, as we are very aware of the long delays which patients are experiencing. If you would like to discuss your concerns further, please do contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0161 276 8686 or by e-mailing pals@mft.nhs.uk quoting reference number PO23/0144, and we will be able to investigate your individual issues and respond directly to you. Yours sincerely, Patient Experience Team.

  6. Review titled Efficient and friendly

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 07 November 2023

I visited Wythenshawe hospital today for an appointment and although busy, staff made an effort to be welcoming and kind. Although thankfully nothing serious, staff were thorough and gave advice on how to monitor things myself. The surgery was run efficiently and despite a long estimated wait time, it wasn’t nearly as long. Thank you!

  7. Review titled Excellent Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Peter John Stokes - Posted on 13 November 2023

I had a minor operation at the Hospital on 10th Nov. All the staff were so supportive and friendly. They could not do enough for me. The Surgeons did a brilliant job and kept me well informed at every stage of the operation, in fact I had a local anaesthetic and could hear them talking all the the way through which I found very interesting. A big thanks to all of them.

My diabetes has taken a turn for the worse and I have been referred to the clinic by my GP because I have already been waiting for almost a year to get an appointment... Anyway I received a letter saying that I should have an appointment by a certain date phone this number, the date came and went so I phoned to get any information about my appointment, but was told that I have to just wait it out... I mean the pain I'm in I'll just ignore then, thanks!

  10. Review titled Fantastic Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 October 2023

I visited A&E recently with a serious chest infection that had been ongoing for 3 weeks, and for which I hadn't received the correct support within primary care. Every staff member I encountered was friendly, reassuring, and helpful. I was triaged in 5 minutes, and after being assessed by a junior doctor, was seen by a respiratory consultant, who had liaised with my outpatient consultant about the best course of treatment. I left with the correct medication and a 4 month treatment plan, with referrals to outpatients in the coming weeks. The consultant went out of his way to secure medication in liquid form for me, and I experienced staff as trauma-informed, which made a huge, positive difference to my experience as someone living with C-PTSD. I felt seen, heard, and acknowledged, and was taken seriously in my concerns, which were validated. Sending thanks and gratitude to all the staff who supported me.
