My father has been referred to CHEC for 4 monthly checks due to his Glaucoma. Today we were scheduled at the Stratford Clinic which appeared to be a rented office space on the third floor within a Chiropractic clinic. My father is 85 years, blind in one eye and when entering the examination room, it was dark and he couldn’t see where he was supposed to sit. When seated for his first eye test, the equipment was not set-up to move towards the patient like it normally is, but required my father to shuffle a heavy seat without wheels forward. The clinician then asked my father to do the click test on his blind eye. When I pointed out he has been blind for some time and it is on his records, we were told they didn’t even look at the records beforehand. After running two test, the click and eye scan we were told that was it. I then had to ask for the pressure test as this is one the first indicators how the Glaucoma is presenting itself. Overall, this was a terrible experience and i hate to think how he and others would have manage without a carers help. We will not be accepting any appointments at this clinic anymore. I would like to add however that the Coventry CHEC is a more professional facility.

CHEC Blackpool was staffed by extremely friendly, professional and caring staff. Appointment time was good with minimal waiting time to be seen. Thank you.

I received a letter and email regarding a pre-endoscopy appointment scheduled to take place by telephone at 09:30 on 14th June. As I could not make this appointment I rescheduled for 13:00 on the same day. Despite this someone tried calling at the original appointment time and I received a text stating I had missed the appointment. I contacted the company straight away, they stated I would need to reschedule. An appointment was made then and there for 17th June at 12 midday. I received a call that morning to state that I had been given a wrong slot, and re-arranged for 15:10 the same day. At 15:29 I received a call which hung up when I answered. I then attempted to contact the caller but went through to the 'wrong office' and was told that someone would call back. I then received a call at 15:39 however the caller stated the line was bad and then the call dropped. You can imagine the anxiety I am experiencing with an undiagnosed condition which I wish to resolve asap. This system appear flawed and the 'pre-assessment' could be done by my GP.

Great service seen on time, very professional and made to feel at ease. the service I've received has been excellent. The only problem I have is booking the appointment on line, they send a message to book which I do with no problems and then you get another the following day to book again this is very confusing. It has happened on several occasions as I have been attending Chec for a couple of years now, I ring to report the confusion and you get a pre recorded answer machine telling you to ignore the second booking as there's a glitch in the system.

The staff were very welcoming and supportive and also explained everything very well and slowly so i understood the process. They were kind and caring. I would recommend them to other family and friends if they needed similar treatment.

From 1st appointment the staff were very helpful and put me at ease, they explained what would happen with the eye surgery which all went to plan and said to call them if I had any worries after surgery

Not possible to rearrange my appointment (cancel & rebook) online - can only do by telephone. When I asked the operator why they didn't provide an online option (given that their initial appointment scheduling is done electronically by text offering choice of appointments, so I expected the same for rearranging), they said something to the effect that they didn't do that as otherwise people could be cancelling & rebooking their own appointments all the time. As the 'customer' that's kind of the point - it needs to be easy to cancel & rearrange appointments because other things come up and it's not always easy to make telephone calls (I was abroad and tend not to make/take voice calls). I had to email to cancel (actually I've no idea if the appointment has actually been cancelled, not had any written/text confirmation), lots of missed calls from them with no message left when I was abroad & at home (I don't pick up calls from numbers I don't recognise & repeated calls get blocked on my phone). Still got to find time to call them - Chec's service would be much improved by offering an online booking, cancellation & rearrangement option.
