    I was contacted by my local surgery to say that they can add the suggested drops to my prescription. I have never personally received the report. I was called by the ophthalmologist today prompted by the local surgery to explain the additional drops but said the communication was your problem not his! I have called tried to enter your email system and completely failed to make contact with anything. Please establish contact by email or 01691 662 976. David Brannock

    Returned on the 29th April for my second operation,and now absolutely fine.Again all the staff,including reception were excellent and very caring.All medication completed,visit to Specsavers confirmed everything was good to go,and only need glasses for certain reading matter.If anyone reads this prior to treatment at this hospital,have no fear this is an excellent hospital. Just look ahead and the future will be a lot brighter.Many thanks to all for the care and compassion shown.

    All patients today were double booked. So inevitably had to wait quite a while for my appointment. Staff were very apologetic. The waiting room was constantly busy.

    I was very concerned that I had developed Glaucoma and CHEC reception arranged for me to see the doctor straight after my glaucoma check. This is not normal practice. The technician doing the test explained what she was doing throughout and made sure that I knew what was going on. She was very patient with me. After the tests I waited in the waiting room for a few minutes and then I saw the doctor. He examined my eyes and looked at the test results. He told me that it was not Glaucoma but I had dry eyes which was causing my symptoms. He gave me some drops to use and explained how to use them. He ensured that I understood what he was saying and reassured me that it was nothing to worry about. I am very thankful for CHEC. I have been going for several years.

    Really great service. Used them before. I was surprised that my optician tried to send me to another place. I have no idea why. My referral then went to the referral centre who I had to push to send me here. It was worth me pushing. Great result. so pleased. Thanks CHEC

  8. Review titled No Smartphone, No Appointment

    Everything seems to be based around smartphones. If you don't have an up to date smartphone with a mobile data plan things become very difficult. Weblinks to make appointment are only sent by text, meaning you have to try and transcribe complicated URLs into a web browser. If you don't do this within a certain number of days you are essentially thrown out of the system and can no longer make an appointment. Given this is a service most likely used by the elderly and those with poor eyesight it is really not good enough. Before this CHEC system was introduced, one could visit the Eye Unit at the Hospital where there were much better facilities and large enough waiting areas instead on tiny cramped areas in a former shop where one sometimes has to wait outside on the street - not great in poor weather!

We can confirm that when patients who have received a booking SMS are unable to do so for various reasons, they will receive a letter in the post providing details of how to book their appointment and our contact details. If a patient is still unable to make contact, a member of our team will call the patient. Our booking app was recently launched with the aim of providing patients more control over their appointments and to reduce waiting times. Our IT department are in the process of reviewing and updating our bookings app to further improve its functionality and accessibility, we have passed your comments through to them for consideration along with their updates.     Checking in exactly two days after my cataract op. Vision from "new" eye about 90% as good as the other eye and getting better each day. No discomfort except a tiny bit of gritty feeling first thing in the morning. Almost enjoyed the whole experience. To my surprise, no pain at all during the op. Many thanks, surgeon and all the very pleasant (and attractive) staff.
