    Requiring a 92 year old patient , living far away with poor mobility to return to the clinic to obtain repeat eyes-drop prescription is utterly unacceptable when her doctor could prescribe to the local pharmacy

    I had surgery carried out yesterday[19.10.2023] at Nottingham Clinic after only 2 weeks being referred by my optician I was given an aportment for a examination by a very pleasant and professional optician who confirmed surgery was required. I was given a choice of dates and times the following week upon arrival for the surgery I felt very much at ease and was delt with on time by a wonderful team of staff who explained the procedure to be carried out by the surgeon who introduced himself to me. The operation took aprox 15 minutes after which i was given after care details to be done during the next weeks at home The whole experance and service given was first class in every way and may I sincerely thank everyone involved.

    I attended the Community Health Eye Centre yesterday for cataract removal. The staff were so friendly and reassuring, lessening my anxiety levels and making the experience relaxing and quick. I was kept well informed of every step and questions were answered. I cannot believe how quickly the procedure was from initial appointment to surgery - less than 2 weeks. I would recommend this service to anyone else seeking eye appointments. A huge Thank you to all the staff at CHEC.

    From receptionist to practitioner excellent service. Treated as a person not someone on a list. Treatment explained, questions answered and given plenty of time. I was amazed at the short time I had to wait for an appointment. 10 out of 10

    This has been a fast service for which I am grateful and the team have been kind. I am also currently pleased with the outcome, my operation was 5 days ago. I write the rest of this review in the hope it will be useful. I will use chec (I can’t use acronyms made of capital letters in this review) again if I need to. However, I have received conflicting advice and been confused by the many text and letter requests for appointments which have often already been made or would have been unnecessary. This is a shame and must be resulting from an inadequate it system. There is the Cataract Treatment Timeline within the Cataract Journey icon on the website but it wasn’t reflected in my experience. Having been through the whole process now I believe that it is as follows: 1. Optician/gp referral (apparently you can choose between going to a hospital or using chec. I wasn’t given that option.) 2. Initial face to face appointment with a chec ophthalmologist for an assessment of need. 2. Telephone call with a second chec opthalmologist (no idea of the purpose of this but it gave me the opportunity to ask some questions). 3. Face to face meeting to have my eyes measured by a chec technician for the operation, followed by a meeting with a chec ophthalmologist to complete consent paperwork. Also the best time to ask for the sort of lens you would like. 4. The operation carried out by a chec eye surgeon. For me the timescale could have been literally 3 weeks from the referral by my optician to the operation but I delayed as I had a booked two week holiday. So the time from start to finish was just over 5 weeks! Amazing. In order to clarify the appointment process I eventually had to phone chec and spoke to a helpful representative who sorted out the next appointment and told me what the procedure was. My only other comment is regarding the advice from the three ophthalmologists I spoke to. The first, after dilating my pupils, said I needed both eyes treated now. The second said I would have my astigmatism corrected as well (this only happens if you go privately). The third said I only needed one eye done and that astigmatism was not corrected on the nhs. This last opthalmologist spoke the most sense - she was the one with the responsibility. It seems to me that the process would be much less expensive for the nhs if I had only had one meeting with the final ophthalmologist (assuming the other two were ophthalmologists - they said they were). It would also have saved me and the person giving me a lift a lot of time, effort and expense. Thank goodness I am retired, have enough money and someone who can give me a lift. Further, I don’t have any caring responsibilities to cover.

    The clinical staff at this practice have been great on the most part. They are never on time though every time I have taken my grandparents to their appts they have been waiting around at least an hour. I asked the receptionist if they can at least update people to prevent the waiting around and she refused this request not understanding it would solve a problem.

    I have been waiting for Laser treatment but have experienced delays and incorrect mails. I have received only a small number of mails. In the most recent ones, the post arrived only a day before the 'reminder'. In the last case in the same posting. In addition the last letter was for a new appointment. In the last month I had seen one of your consultants twice (for a total of less than 10 minutes). At the last I was told that I would get an appointment for the surgery. However the letter was for yet another appointment, not the surgery itself. I couldn't use the online system didn't provide th approriate options. I telephoned and went to the 'other' option and was able to book the surgery. This whole thing is far worse than what is offered on the web as the timeline for this procedure. It suggests that your systems are not fit for purpose. Another point is that the web offers a 'Web Chat', I can see no sign of this on the website, it would have saved me from waiting for the telephone queue and the time and cost of this.
