    On 26th September I had a cataract operation and given a small 5ml bottle of eye drops to be administered 4 times a day for 28 days and told if I required any more medication to get it from my surgery. Today, I went to my Medical Practice to obtain this but was informed that I was to make contact with the Eye Clinic at Basingstoke. I tried to do this on the Helpline number on the paperwork supplied to me after my operation, only to receive a voicemail message saying that they were away for the weekend but please leave a message. I am an 84 year old lady who lives in Thatcham 17 miles away. It is absolutely shocking for a Clinic who does hundreds of operations to have a voicemail of such description and not be manned during opening hours of the Clinic. What if I had something go very wrong with my operation. This certainly needs to be addressed.

    The technician and then the consultant kept me fully informed of what was happening and what would happen. Everything tht I was told was delivered

    I was immediately greeted by helpful, friendly staff and seen practically immediately. Really nice, bright and clean waiting area which felt very comfortable. I first had my assessment and luckily was able to see a doctor immediately afterwards - which isn't the normal procedure. The staff organised this for me as on that day and time as the clinic wasn't too busy. Very relaxed and friendly consultation with the doctor who took time to explain what the problem was and what kind of treatment I could expect. The staff then booked me a taxi home which was charged to their account! All in all an extremely professional and friendly service after my referral had initially been sent to the Hallamshire in July as an 'urgent' case. This first referral was lost and I was then told I'd be seen in December! Thankfully Boots Opticians picked up on this and referred me to CHEC. I was seen within 3 days. Fantastic!

    I have now been referred to CHEC twice. The first time to arrange a cataract follow up and the second for a detached retina issue. Both times they said it was not their job and turned me away. I went direct to SpecSavers who have been very helpful, although charged me. I do not understand what the point of CHEC is. They clearly have such a narrow mandate that they are pointless.

    Staff were all friendly and helpful. The procedure was painless and quicker than I thought it would be. Waiting now for second appointment. Results for first very successful.

    I was due a review for my glaucoma December 2022 I did not receive a letter for an appointment.I did not receive a phone call. I log all my calls and even if they called me why not leave a message? This practice is obviously being run by different people as the phone number has changed. I was never told about this. They said they they contacted my GP when I didn’t respond to the letter and phone calls I did not get. My GP confirmed they never received a letter either.

    Two visits in two days, having to suffer deafening radio in the waiting room. Would have thought an eyecare provider would be aware of additional sensitivity of service users to sound.
