    At the preliminary appointment I found out i had high blood pressure and referred to my Doctors. This is now under control and I had my cataract operation on 22nd August 2023. Everyone was so welcoming and I felt in safe hands- It only took one hour from my appointment time before I was phoning my partner to come and pick me up! after a bit of discomfort in the evening I have been absolutely fine and 2 days on am delighted with the improvement in my eyesight - it's wonderful to be able to see everything so much clearer and brighter beyond any expectations I had and I am so grateful to everyone especially the surgeon who has done such a wonderful job and this was only the first eye - am looking forward to getting my other one done . I didn't realise that I had high blood pressure so really having cataracts has been a blessing in disguise as now I have that under control and better eyesight I can look forward to healthier and can I say bright future - thank you

    I have been called in by CHEC to have scans and test, 5 times now. Each time I attend I'm told that I should not drive in because of eye drops they use. However, each time I have attended, the same scans and tests have been done not using eye drops, but nothing ever comes of this. The last time I went in, which was on Aug 31st at 12:10, the result was that the clinician said that she would send a note to the NHS for eye drops to halt a possible glaucoma. I was told to keep going into the pharmacy because the drops would be sent there within 3 weeks. This has still not happened, but, as usual I received letters from CHEC to tell me to come in for tests and scans ... yet again ! Something is not right here. It feels more like a factory that a place of genuine care. I am unable to contact by phone because I don't have an hour to waist sitting on hold in case someone actually answers. Attend with caution.

    My first cataract operation went very well and I am delighted with how well I can see with that eye. Everyone was very helpful and I am looking forward to the second eye being done.

    My initial appointment was very quick and professional..as was the follow up phone conversation to tell me I had Glaucoma. I was told that a prescription for eye drops would be sent to my g.p...its nearly 2 weeks on now and 1 phone call to chec 1 phone call to my g.p. and 1 online chat..and finally they tell me its sent..I won't know until Monday now as my surgery is closed.

    I was referred to CHEC Stevenage by a local optician for higher than normal intra-ocular pressures. At the first appointment, the technician seemed under pressure to rush the tests. Field of vision tests and photographs of the retina were taken, but I had to go back and ask for the intra-ocular pressures to be measured. I left the clinic on the instruction of the technician but was called back 3 minutes later by mobile phone to see a doctor. The doctor was excellent and diagnosed glaucoma in one eye. Eye drops were supplied. At the follow up appointment 6 days later, the doctor was pleased with the drop in pressure. I asked the reception staff for a printout of the letter for my GP but neither of the two printers were working. Apart from the doctor, everything else seemed a bit sloppy and I was rather disappointed. The text messages from CHEC asked me to make two further appointments but there was no indication as to how far in advance. Thankfully, the doctor specified the month for the next appointments. When I came to book the appointments, at first the reception staff said I would have to come back on two separate dates. When I said that this was difficult because of work, they managed to find a date/time when the technician and the doctor could see me. Surely this should be the norm to save everyone from making more visits than necessary. Please CHEC, improve your service and make it one to be proud of.

    I feel I am being looked after and happy with the staff and appointments. The bookings lady successfully managed to make an additional telephone call appointment for me prior to my tests/dr appointments, which has set my mind at rest. CHEC have been very good.

    I was referred by my Optician for Glaucoma by CHEC. I cannot fault them, I had super treatment there. All was good in the clinic and all was explained. Only a few issues was when booking appointments. But in general I am very satisfied, definitely would recommend.
