I have no problem with the service at the clinic but you just can’t get through on the phone or leave a message . I need to cancel an appointment & can’t.

  2. Review titled Woeful

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 July 2023

Letter sent from CHEC contained no information so no idea which condition this was for (son has already had two separate appointments at the local NHS hospital and been signed off by one consultant so this one may be unnecessary). The telephone number on the letter didn’t work but had spent 3 days trying to get through. Eventually tracked down a chat service online and was told the number was wrong and changed in May - but our letter was dated June! If I hadn’t persevered would have had to decide to attend appointment and lose day’s pay or be a no show. Really worried for our NHS if this is the solution…

  3. Review titled Keep patients informed please

Rated 4 stars out of 5

    by George S. - Posted on 17 July 2023

Normally this service is very efficient but today arrived at 08:50 for 09:10 Glaucoma appointment. Still waiting 45 mins after appointment due to start. Enquired at desk and was told someone was off sick and that two more patients were still to be seen before me. This would take at least another hour. Having other commitments, I was therefore unable to wait longer, and had to leave. Receptionists said that they had been cancelling patients. I was told that I would receive another appointment so I wait in hope. My point is - why couldn't a member of staff have the courtesy to come and tell me that I would be in for a long wait, and give me the choice of re-booking if they didn't have the staff to cope? This would have saved me some time and stress. Please don't leave patients in the dark. We do have lives!

They hound you to make appointment with multiple media formats. Phone call, text, email and post. The 1st call i got, i advised i was working away and would make appointment when i was home. They continued to chase me to make the appointment. I have now had my appointment, booked via their system, yet they continue to chase me to make an appointment. 3 letters sent after my appointment. One of which was instructions for the appointment, would have been more useful to have receieved prior to appointment.

  5. Review titled Appalling Admin

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Although I was transferred to Northgate clinic, and had my apppointment there, which was a very efficient and friendly process. I have been issued with 4 telephone messages and 2 letters instructing me to make my initial appointment, which was offered 50 miles away. The letter also states if you dont book an appointment your referral will be closed. This appears to be a technical error, but is causing a great deal of confusion and upset to elderly people.

Appt time was for 8 . Got seen at 10 15 Not enough numbing and it was pain full . I have a heart condition and anxiety. No one read my notes and they proceeded to put a cover over my face . When I ask if someone could hold my hand they said no . That’s what I call a horrible experience

I have today, 19th July, received a letter dated 22nd June confirming my appointment on 4th July The letter highlights in bold that I may have drops, which I did, and that I should not drive. Why could this important info not have been given to me before. Fortunately I did not drive You must get your act together better than this!

  8. Review titled Very poor

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 July 2023

How poor that CHEC have changed the patient contact phone number but still give out the old number on current appointment letters. When you phone the old number is doesn't even advise it is no longer in use, instead it just says person busy, leaving the caller none the wiser. Terrible patient communication.

  9. Review titled Can't book appointment

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 21 July 2023

Received a text link to make appointment. But the link doesn't work. So, tried phoning their 'patient enquiry' number. But all I get are pre-recorded messages. Messages aren't remotely helpful and there is no option to talk to an actual human. I now have absolutely no idea what to do? Never mind, I'll probably go blind soon, so won't need the appointment!

  10. Review titled Awful appointment system

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 July 2023

My husband was referred to this service some years ago. The clinics themselves are good, albeit held in locations that are inconvenient to attend. However the administration is diabolical. Very difficult to make appointments. Using the CHEC website he was offered one date at nearest location only to find no appointments actually available on that date! Online chat absolutely no help whatsoever. Could not offer alternative dates or even explain why a date was available when it wasn't. Technicians and consultants don't operate from the same clinics so often have to visit two different towns. Got to the point now where he isn't going to bother going any more, its just too much aggravation.
