Review titled First Rate Service

I was unwell and resolved to contact my GP first thing in the morning. However my condition deteriorated during the evening. My wife contacted 111. I was spoken to by a doctor within 2 hours, and given an appointment for the out of hours service within the next 90 minutes. The doctor who saw me was excellent, he gave me a thorough examination, diagnosed my problem and even dispensed the required medicine whilst I waited ( only about 5 minutes) I cannot praise the out of hours service and the doctor highly enough. We are fortunate to have such a service in Bradford.

Phoned at 5.30pm tooth pain told to go to Croydon dentist. Tooth removed by dentist and assistant it was quick and painless. They were professional and very kind and understanding back home to Bromley by 9.39 pm. Top draw. Many thanks. Mark

I was scheduled to meet with a consultant at Saint Mary’s. When I arrived the doctor was not in so was turned away and told I would receive a call to rebook. I’ve tried to reach the person who I need to speak to, but I’ve not been able to connect with anyone. I still have not had a call to rebook and would like to be contacted to get this rescheduled.

Called 111 the other night as was in a lot of pain. Expected a phone back for advise or a appointment to get the pain sorted. But received no call until 10hrs later. What is the point of having a out of hours service when the service can't even be provided when it's needed.

Attended Southampton hospital for a double hernia operation. Being retired I was able to take great care during recovery unfortunately I am still left with the hernias one side being extremely painful very disappointing. However they will need to be repaired again as there is very likely to be a very long waiting time I have decided to go private and pay myself, don’t think I will ask practise plus though

Used the online service at 5pm to present with a severe, continual headache which I had been experiencing for 48 hours. The outcome was that I would receive a phone call from a clinician. At 2.40 in the morning I was called by a local admin staff member who advised that the service was busy, he apologised and told me to carry on waiting. 5 minutes later I received another call from another member of staff to advise me of the same thing! No further contact took place, no doubt the calls were logged so the obligatory stat could be recorded indicating contact had been made. Honestly, what is the point of this so called emergency service?

Child had ear infection screaming with pain just landed back in Gatwick from a trip and need help asap. 111 said put a flannel on it because there wasn’t a fever. Despite child screaming! By some miracle I got a doctors appointment that same morning - our practice is amazing! The doctor was shocked at the narrowing of the ear canal and referred us immediately to hospital for emergency treatment! Not sure a flannel would have been the best option 111! Dangerous in my opinion, don’t take risks with a childs health. Despite my pushing and explaining pain management wasn’t working the flannel was the best they offered, this was also an escalation to a nurse! So I even reached a clinician - again it was so tightly scripted it’s not safe! Review your call scripts and decision making 111! This was bad advice and I’m glad I ignored it!

Rang 111 at 10 am due to recently being discharged from hospital with a pulmonary embolism. Wanted an out of hours Dr appointment. Nearly 24 hours later no call back! Public are told not to clog up A and E yet 111 not fit for purpose. NHS in dire straits as my hospital stay was most horrendous experience due to lazy rude staff and no decent care.

Called 111 because impossible to get appointment with gp. Call handler did assessment and said i would get a call within an hour, 5 hours later no call back. Received two messages saying I was in a list and would be called back it’s now 2am and still no call. I called again and this call handler couldn’t access previous assessment as it was a different area I had been sent through to, surely this is held on a central database? Advised that they would get a clinician to call within a day. So from initial assessment saying within an hour and second stating a day looks like I won’t be getting a call back after sitting up until 2am waiting on it. This service needs seriously overhauling

Had a meniscus tear repair done and the whole team from surgeon to anaesthetist and care staff post op are a credit to the NHS absolutely superb service customer care at its best exceptional this took place on the 17/8/23 as a day case i hope the staff get recognition for there outstanding dedication to the care of all patients i cant remember all there names but it was a day shift on the lower ward many thanks to all of you for making it so smooth thank you, you are a credit to the NHS
